The gentleman is apparently a scholar of geopolitics, yet dishes out sweeping shallow statements in every second statement he says. Here's a rebuttal of the theories and opinions he floated in this interview: 1. China: a) Authoritarianism: For him, China is an authoritarian state, but quote "it's working" and instead it's Indian state is cruel to minorities for him. Agreed India's track record is sketchy here, but surprisingly (or rather not), not a single word of how China has been treating its cultural and religious minorities for decades, starting from Mao's Cultural Revolution to Tibetans to Uighurs and Hui Muslims, to Hong Kong. If the US has been ignoring those things in China for decades, what makes him think the US would go hard on India for transgressions much minor in comparison? Except Senators and Representatives in the US giving out one-off statements against India in this regard (thanks to lobbyists), the US establishment doesn't really care. He himself mentioned how the US behaves internationally and how much importance it actually gives to these issues, until there are other issues of its interest. b) Economy: As most things about China, he doesn't have much knowledge about its internal dynamics more than any average person. On one hand, he dishes out 15-year old rhetoric such as "Everything is designed in US, but only copied/made in China", and on the other hand, he says stuff like China is a technological powerhouse as other Asian countries don't come close to it. Sir, China is ahead of the West in newer technologies cause there isn't much first-mover advantage in those areas, for example electric vehicles and solar panel technology. On the other hand, the real struggle for China is that it's nearly entirely dependent on consumption from the West to sustain and grow its economy. The day things actually go south between China and US, both economies will suffer majorly, meaning that the CCP that has been ruling the Chinese people on a social contract of "give up your freedom in exchange of economic prosperity" will also see major cracks in its hold over power. CCP fudges its growth figures cause the institutions are directly under govt's control. In 2023, China was the only major economy that saw a net outflow of foreign investments in its stock market of more than 10%. The CCP is hounding Western companies cause it's seeing how they've begun moving to South-east Asian economies like Vietnam, Thailand and India. 2. China vs India: a) Answering some of his rhetoric, he goes "Jung taa hundi aa, jado muqaabla dushman karan joga hove". He's got zero clue about modern warfare, that he cannot see right in front of us, a non-nuclear tiny army (Ukraine) has been able to stall and push back the world's 2nd strongest army (Russia), only using tens of billions worth weaponry and literally no external soldiers intervening from another country. Because in modern warfare, unless the enemy sweeps the territory in a couple of days, it is 10x more difficult to capture and hold enemy territory, than to defend one's own territory, especially when you don't have the support of civilians in that territory. b) Then he mentions often "China didn't need to use guns in Galwan instead they beat Indians with bare hands". I don't think he doesn't know about India-China's decades-long agreement of non-armament use on the LAC. Unless he's really really ignorant. Obviously, he won't mention Chinese casualties (not even CCP's claimed casualties). Bipartisanship, what's that? c) Dude thinks China can easily take care of India (despite the mighty Himalayas and terrible war-terrain), as if China's eastern waters are all smooth. China has at least 10 adversaries in the Indo-Pacific such as Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia. Xi worries much more about the Indo-Pacific than Ladakh in the medium term. 3. India's foreign policy: a) Nearly every mention of India's foreign policy has been outright naive and shallow from this gentleman. It's laughable how he equated USA's relationship with Pakistan to that of India, and how the two countries benefited from the US economically. He's got zero clue about economics, cause Pakistan never used US grants to reform its economic system, whereas India has mostly relied on US private investments to reform its organized sector. b) This guy actually thinks India is serious about a BRICS currency, knowing fully well that Chinese economy is currently 70% of the BRICS GDP. c) Then after a few statements, he goes "Je India ne USA di hallasheri naal China te hamla karta.....", while he relished making comments such as "India ton kush ni kar hona battlefield ch. " Another evidence of incoherence of thoughts. I could go on, but I think the point has been made. This guy has no actual specialty in modern geopolitics. Simply playing on the confirmation bias of an audience that wants to hear certain kinds of opinions.
