I know some of you are meme'ing, but everyone commenting "didn't you make a video about not optimizing" clearly didn't watch it or didn't understand it. That video: Don't waste resources if the follow-up will not kill and it doesn't give you a unique advantage after This video: How to figure out if you can get more damage/stun in a situation and to determine how to maximize advantage and to determine if it's worth using resources or not.
@@evalangley3985 why would you do a reset if you have a guaranteed combo to win. That's not what this video is about again. It's about determining if you can potentially secure a kill on a given scenario
@@Brian_F I think he is saying that he and the opponent both know the combo won't kill, so you intentionally reset at the beginning of the combo to catch then off guard, thinking they're gonna live
Hey Brian. Been a fan of the channel for a while now. I always found SFV to be boring to watch so I didn't have much interest in it and continued playing SF4 for years. But your videos have always been entertaining and recently I've been watching so much of your content that I figured I might as well get the game, seeing as now I have a PC. And I'm really enjoying it. I've been playing for 3 days and I got out of bronze last night. So basically, thanks bro. I definitely wouldn't have given SFV a chance without you. But on the flip side, you have also created one more filthy Bison player.
I got it in 2016 and I been playing and enjoying it more in the last month than ever before. It’s a cool game I still like SF4 more but I still prefer 3rd strike over both. I win more in Alpha 3 play ST in my sleep lol Sf games are so weird each one is similar but so different. I just hope they stay around
I needed this a lot since I suck at optimizing in hard situations, like I know my stun combos, but that moment I see the magic pixel, I get salty. Thank you for this.
yo, this video is absolutely wonderful. a lot of new players don't know how to use training mode effectively to solve *real* problems, so their lab work becomes 'just practicing combos'. i'm new to sfv and i wasn't aware of the save state system, so it was helpful to me too! thanks for making this.
I've been climbing ranks really fast every since I started watching these videos. Brain is well spoken and just gets right to the good stuff. Love it man.
Not gonna lie, this is actually one of the most informative videos I've watched regarding combos, and I've watched a lot of guides. Granted, now I gotta transfer this to Ryu, but still, nice
Love the game and your videos. Got to silver with your help only to really suck and go right back to low level bronze when I started to open up my play style. I still have so much to learn.
I woke up late so this comment might get buried but I've added tracklists to last week's videos. Lots of you were asking about those, so be sure to take a look.
i just hit gold league last night without having a bnb and a cc combo. i just play for fun and now i wanna practice and see how far i can go. cool timing for this vid man.
Nice to have but you don’t need em. Solid play footsies and fundamentals will get you the wins just about every time. Sometimes I get hype connecting a really tough combo in match but then lose to a hard kick or a jab lol. It’s all good but if you get out played you get outplayed
@@mattgoo aww man that will change. Take up boxing 🥊 Sometimes I cry. After I leave a bloody mess on the floor I don’t like losing control. Normally I’m a nice guy 😄
I had no idea about the gut scaling in SFV and always wondered why the exact same combo would do more or less damage, depending on how many times in a row it was performed.
I've learned so much from binging your videos, man. I also learned that I fucking SUCK at fighting games after countless hours of playing online, and there is so much to learn and so many nuances that I just quit. Just got my stick too. Now I live vicariously through you!
Oh my lord. I didn't even know about the save state feature. I've just been doing everything over and over again when I want to practice a variation/optimize damage. *Guts theme plays*
I've never been Gold league in SFV but thanks to kings like Brian F, NightmareEffect and MC Mura, my ass hit Platinum last week. Thanks for doing all you guys do and I'll be dropping by the stream to say hi and drop a $20 next time I catch ya'll!
Real smart use of the training mode. I gotta stop being so basic I found myself doing this in dbfz just running combos and variations until I was satisfied like ok this is the most damage I can get with this combo
Disregarding that this is before the grab combo scaling nerf, level 3 is the best option for combos into super followed by 1 then 2 for this corner scenario. Lv1's best corner combo is j hp, b+hp xx delay lp smash over, back hp xx vs1, super Lv2's best corner combo is j hp, b+hp xx lk spinkick, fwrd+hp, super (this actually does the most out of the 3 options raw but in post stun combos it will do less so the real best option post stun is j hp, cr hp xx hp fireball, cr lp xx smash under xx super) Lv3's best corner combo is j hp, cr hp xx smash over, back hp xx vs1, super (the one you've shown here). So basically, If you got the execution and can't get to lv3 then do the lv1 combo(which can also be good if you need to do speech for meter instead of trying to level up).
I start playing G in season 5 as a newborn hatchling, Smug is my favorite player, but I also love Brian F, but brian plays Balrog. Smug suddenly barely plays G outside of tournament or for videos, so I barely have any content to watch to learn G. All the sudden as if answered by the heavens my other Fave Brian F is doing WORK. Thank you Brian
Hey Brian, love the video! I didn't know if you had any thoughts on how to enjoy labbing if you aren't someone who inherently enjoys it, if that makes sense. Not sure how to ask the question better. I love watching people lab and play, and I love to play myself, but I don't enjoy labbing as much as some. I thought this could be used as an idea for a video, if you'd like to use it for that. Keep it up!
I don't play g and can't check rn but can you dash under to cross sides when the vskill stuns them while they're high in the air? Would allow you to be on the other side to neutral jump
Will save status save the charge for final TAP? I've always found those combos difficult to optimize because it takes so long to charge. I've actually landed a few final TAPs in matches lately.
If you want the most damaging combos you just got to go play the game and work your way to them. It's why I love fighting games you literally can feel and see your progress
2 minutes into the video, I legit thought this was going to be about the Kolin could have killed you if she did ice drop into jump HK then 5HK instead ice drop straight into 5HK. Lol
Different topic, that video dealt with not wasting meter because scaling would still only bring the opponent to one interaction to kill. In this situation, he’s practicing optimization sequences in regard to guts scaling for multiple characters.
