Language evolves.
Also, context matters.
Try this flinch test from the ground and notice the difference between letting the tail wag the dog and “getting organized” first.
Does it apply to all phenomena? Does it scale?
Big questions on the Sunday of a long weekend.
(Also, yeah. SFCF as the backdrop. Pour one out.)

Stuart McGill advocates for turning on all the muscles, not just the TA. He also says that if you can get the client to find a brace or positions that feels more successful the TA is likely active anyway. I’ve seen him in a few videos basically coaching just this: finding a position that is less painful and maintaining that abdominal brace

that was really good. ive been focusing alot on engaging my ass and hams to help with a knee issue. it took 4 months of daily practice but my knee is now pain free and i feel much stronger. his video on box squats is what got me to where i am.

Is that the one called "Squat selection for people with knee issues?" What have you been practising daily?

Completely agree with changing the terminology up for better cues. Wonder if a better one than “organizing” might be, “order of operations”. Cue from the simplest to most complex or vice versa, or furthest to closest or vice versa, depending on the way that client learns and/or moves/needs to move. Thoughts?

This was an especially great upload. I definitely defaulted to the excessive trunk stiffness and then had to consciously correct (or attempt to) get my spine back on the floor. Just as you described; I learned that default act was some unnecessary habit that I developed somewhere. I’ll keep this in mind the next time I’m doing a core exercise with leg lifts. No need to paste your spine to the floor if you don’t hyperextend abs inhibit breath in the first place.
