I use plumbing pipe insulation from the big box home improvement stores for the bike instead of the $70 kit. You can get 6 foot 3/4 and 1/2 tubes for two bikes for less than $20. And it's thicker than the stuff shops use to ship bikes. It really protects the bike.
I am not a fan of a bag that I have to remove completely the rear mech....mine I just unscrew it from the dropout then attach it on the inside triangle of the frame. That way I don't normally have to adjust and mess with the rear mech. It looks like you might be able to do that also. Removing the fork and all ....blah too much. Most airlines will allow larger bike bags which you can keep your bike more together and count it like a normal bag now. About 5 plus years ago that was different but finally airlines are being nice about that. I see you did not too bad at Tulsa...more important....did not wreck. This year at Tulsa there was tons more wrecks, was super crazy.
I have that bag...two of them actually. Purchased them after using a Trico Ironcase and having my bike damaged after TSA did not properly repack it post inspection. Orucase B2 is much better IMO.
Claudio, loving your videos. I live in the NYC metro and have raced at Kissena so maybe I will see you at some point. Saw your great Tulsa results online. Congrats! Awesome job. Great review also. One thing I did not catch on the video......did you pay airline fees for the bike on the airplane? That is one of the key features of that bag so I was curious how it worked out. Thanks!
@@ClaudioMarquez Thanks buddy. That is a good outcome for the bag. Do you have a site and posted calendar for the band so I can come and hear you all play some time. I know you guys do weddings but maybe you also play out.
Haven’t bought a travel bag for my road bike, but probably will go with the hard case from Topeak, It looks bulky but I guess it could be a good deal. By the way Claudio, when traveling within the US, do you have to pay extra for the bicycle bag, or they simply accept it as your regular one?
It really depends on the airline. I've flown two international roundtrips never paid a fee with the Orucase Airport Ninja. Usually, will follow standard dimensions for checked luggage
