First Time in Hong Kong - Hong Kong functions as a special administrative region under China. This was our first time in Hong Kong and we were shocked by the vibrant energy pulsating through the crowded streets. Hong Kong is more than just a concrete jungle, it's a metropolis with diverse cultures, incredible food and lots of green space.

Now you guys are in my city Hong Kong. I highly recommend you go to the Peak after 6:00 PM the night lights over Hong Kong are amazing. If you have time, go to the Stanley Market on the south side of Hong Kong Island. Take a bus from Exchange Square in Central take number 6 and also take a ferry at pier 5 to Discovery Bay. Hong Kong has over 200 islands

Welcome to HK! My office is just round the corner from where you had the dim sum lunch and I often get take away from there. Wish I knew you were coming and would have loved to meet you guys. Great to see to see you're enjoying it here! Just a few things, the taxi's are all pretty new, not as new as the ones in China, the vast majority are Toyota Crowns, they just look old..... It appears you arrived just after Chinese New Year here and many are still on holiday and the main business districts are still quiet, starting tomorrow, it will be much busier. Getting across the road from the shopping mall to the harbour, actually there's a tunnel at the basement carpark of the World Trade Centre that take you to the harbour, where it exists is a cannon where Jardines will fire the noon-day gun every day! SO you may wish to make a trip there to see them fire it. Travelling through HK, you could get an Octopus Card, similar to an Oyster Card, only capable of being used in just about all public transport, many fast food restaurants, convenience stalls, supermarkets, and many more and you can top them up at any convenience store, supermarket and many other stores. It's available from any MTR station and you can return it when you leave or keep it as a souvenir. You'll need to go back to the peak and victoria harbour at night, the views are absolutely stunning. At 8pm every night there is a light show and if you watch from the kowloon side of the Star Ferry, you will get the accompanying music from the area by that big clock tower. Oh, BTW, it's not a light house at the top, the location used to be the railway terminus, when they demolished it, they kept the clock tower. With a 3 month visa you've plenty of time to visit HK, and you should go to some of the temples in Kowloon and New Territories, namely Wong Tai Sin Temple in Kowloon and Che Kung Temple in Shatin, both have their own MTR Stations. Both of these are commonly visited at this time of the year.

Sorry you guys, I know you love bubble tea, but the bubble teas in Hong Kong is going to be very expensive compare to the mainland. However, there is one Mi Xue in Mong Kok district. Theirs are still cheap compare to the others. When you go to Mong Kok, take the subway to Mong Kok station and get out at Exit E2. You will see Mi Xue on your right as soon as you get out.

In the 60s I went up by a tram to the top. There is a telescope there. I think I saw Greer Garson sitting on a bench. There were quite a few Hollywood stars in Hong Kong at that time. I think I saw Stewart Granger doing a shoot. Gina Lollobrigida was visiting and was photograghed sitting on a rickshaw. Of course, Hong Kong was a British Colony at that time.

@@sunkissedbucketlist I was in Hong Kong for 4 years completed my high school before I left for the States for university. Vietnam War had started and in the harbour were on occasion an aircraft carrier with the soldiers on R and R wandering the streets mostly in Wanchai. "The World of Suzie Wong" starring William Holden and Nancy Kwan describes it best. William Holden did two movies in Hong Kong. "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" with Jennifer Jones. I am compressing all in a statement.

If you are here for a few days, it is probably easier to get an octopus card from any mtr station. You will need to pay a $50 deposit, but you can get the deposit back when u leave. Just return to any mtr station. Or at the airport.

Since you are in HK, you might want to reenter China by Guangchou and travel southwards towards Guiling, great landscape, breathtaking. I am sure you are not done with China. Back north there is the avartar mountains then you have Xian, Kunming, Dali and the Himalayas where you can go some distance by cable cars and hike up the stairs. And in Yunan, there is the famous Tiger leaping gourge and other than that Yunan has one of the most breathtaking landscpe in the country side. Happy Adventure! Just a few suggestions since you are near to China. You might not be sure when you can have a chance for another trip if you left that area now, Just making the best and planning well!

Looks like this is a new Peak Tram and the cable has been replaced. You could feel the cable pulling and stopping before. It was a bit scary if this was your first time. There is a SOGO corner at Causeway Bay. Not sure you actually were there when you were at Causeway Bay. I think you can get there by ding ding or MTR. They have a lot of shops there too. Also this year Hong Kong has a spectacular 1000 drone Chinese New Year show by Crostars. But I think it was just one time for New Year. It is at the same location where you can watch the nightly "A Symphony of Lights" show. I think that one is 8pm. You can check with your Hotel if they are still doing the drone show. Or just go there for light show and night view of Hong Kong. "The best viewing locations of this nightly spectacle are the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Avenue of Stars, the promenade at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wanchai, and from sightseeing ferries in the Victoria Harbour."

must be off season because that's not the hk I remember lol. it's usually packed everywhere. good thing you checked it out in the winter because it's horrible in the summer heat and humidity. hk, aka cantonese food is probably my favorite among the chinese cuisines. on the flip side, all the good restaurants are usually packed and you have to share tables which is kind of weird if you are not use to it :D
