I haven't been watching videos on this channel for very long, but to answer Daniel's question: I think it's really admirable that you don't show your switches, because that's based on your values. It's your channel, and it's your life, so it's your decision. On the other hand, I've been watching DissociaDID's channel for a while now, and I think it's also admirable that they do show their switches, because it reflects their values. It's their channel, and its their life, so it's their decision. You guys also make those choices for similar reasons: Because you don't want DID/OSDD systems to be seen as weird or 'magical.' I think at the end of the day, both groups of representation are amazing, because they show other DID/OSDD systems that however they feel about their switches is valid. All systems are different, and each alter within each system is different, so it's great to have as many different types of representation as possible.

Yes we also don’t really switch in front of others. It’s kind of a respect as well as a safety thing. Everyone on the outside expects Ben. They don’t know the others. Thought the others deserve their chance to live their lives. We agreed that it’s best that the world sees Ben and he/we live the best life by presenting like him in public. I’m not sure that that makes us “fake” or if that’s unfair to the group. Maybe we are just scared. But for now we express ourselves in the headspace and when the body is alone

I was trying to find a way to say this yesterday I don't understand why people are so fascinated by switching (it's reassuring to know that systems switch differently so it re-enforces that every system is valid even ours) Honestly we kind of felt a little concerned (knowing The Entropy System have always said they would never show their switches on camera as they don't even feel comfortable switching in front of everyone in their immediate lives) Thought maybe they had been pressures into showing, so felt genuine relief to know they hadn't been forced/pressured, i know they get asked alot but they like any other System aren't there to put on a display its about them not what people want Thank you for putting my thoughts into words we couldn't TheDukSystem

I love how you guys did this. It was actually a very good representation of what "switching" looks like. That visual explanation of the person fronting being distressed somehow and someone from the headspace essentially saying "Hey, I'll step in and take over from here for you." and then seeing someone new come into the frame. Sure it's a camera trick, but it seems like such a good visualization for what switching and DID is. Two separate people. One leaves, and another comes in. I don't know if you intended it like that or not, but I think it's really effective for explaining switching/DID in general to someone who may not have a lot of information on the subject.

@fibonaccisequins4637
@fibonaccisequins4637 3 года назад
but DID isn’t two separate people, it’s essentially a fractured personality. It’s still you, just you doing things you don’t remember and exhibiting parts of your personality that only come out in that dissociative state. you don’t get to say “hey Buddy please tag in cause I can’t cope” you dissociate, black out, wake up and have no idea what you’ve done. That is DID. Not the shit you see in movies.
@creepy.cookie3187
@creepy.cookie3187 3 года назад
@@fibonaccisequins4637 yes but also no, with time those parts develop into having different traits and such. The parts interact with eachother and the world differently, its not like dissociating and slipping into a headspace, it really is a different part of the mind with a completely separate identity. I for one definitely can and do communicate with my alters to ask, "hey can you do this thing?" or, "I'm overwhelmed, someone else please front," etc.

I'm honestly thrilled that systems like you AND systems like DissociaDID (who routinely switches on camera) exist. Because I agree with everything you've said, but I also think that it can be really validating for people with DID or OSDD to see someone else switching and have a space where that's normalized. It's just so freakin' frustrating that these two things are pretty much mutually exclusive. This, I believe, is the best compromise - let both representations exist, and exist in the hands of systems who take their representation seriously. Anyway, well done, really creative idea and I loved watching it. You really found a way to make this message pack a punch. Also, I know you've said before that those videos are tough to make, but I love hearing you discuss media representation of DID - they're some of my absolute favourite videos. I'm grateful that you put in all those hours of watching all that crap LOL Edit: I just want to say how awesome it is to scroll through the comments and see so many people saying 'you're not obligated to do something you're not comfortable with'.

@Rita L: Yess there is this “brain in the vat” scenario in Phil classes that I used to think of as sci-fi stuff only. But knowing about DID and how for alters inner and outer worlds are both as vividly perceived now that doesn’t seem all too farfetched. It also shows how much gender and sexuality and identity in general is socially constructed. As entities of varied species, genders, sexual orientation and other aspects of identity can exist in one body.

“What have we done to desensationalize DID?” Is that even a question? Before finding your guys’ channel a few years ago, I thought DID was a form of schizo or just made up and that people with DID were just confused and unstable (thanks Split). AlexMaxHan’s video was the first time I actually saw of someone with DID talking about what they experienced so I started digging a bit further and found your guys’ channel. It was such an amazing resource not only for the science and reason behind the disorder, but also a personal view into someone’s life with the disorder. You guys are doing amazing work in the world, keep it up!

Though I do not believe you intentionally came off this way, given how loving and supportive you are of DID, it still comes off (to a degree) that you believe Schizophrenia may fall into that "other" category. The "scary/ cr*zy/fake" category. Lord knows Split did a number on all of us. So if you or anyone wants some clarification on Schizophrenia, I can offer some insight, as I am Schizophrenic! I could offer some understanding :)

My first interraction with DID and more specificaly this channel is with a suggestion after I watched a review of the series Sense8 (which, according to wyn, has many common points with how she sees how DID works) Like many, I vaguely knew about DID through the media depictions without knowingh what was true and what was pure fantasy. And, to be honest, as I binged many videos of various DID centered channels, I never looked at it with a purely "entertainment seeking" eye, but rather a way to educate myself about unknown and/or stigmatised topics. Too many see youtube as a purely entertainment focused plateform. I see it more like a wonderfull enlightment tool with so many educational and creative contents of all kind from cooking to mental health, from cinema to engineering...

I have to agree with everyone else. While it would be interesting to see a switch, it is not necessary. Your boundaries and privacy mean so much more than youtube. No one would be upset if you decided not to show it. I understand that it is an extremely personal thing and could make you feel vulnerable. There are other channels that show this type of thing so you don't have to if you don't want. We all want you to feel safe and protected. Ya'll have really helped me understand systems and neurodiverse people in general so thank you. Stay safe! Edit: now that I have actually seen the video. The editing was really cool and it was interesting to see a bit of inner communication. Having representation is so important and I hope in the future there will be much more positive and normalizing representation for DID. This was a really cool video!

When I was younger I always loved magic (I still do) and when talking about DID (or multiple personality disorder as I knew it then) or the concept of it I honestly thought it was completely fictional. This came from my pop culture understanding of Jeckll and Hyde. I liked the thought that a person could have multiple personalitys and perspectives on life from one well body. As well as the drama that came with the idea. The plot potential etc etc. Then later in life I studied Jekll and Hyde in school. It was very different and not at all what I thought it was. Its like DID with an inverted colour palette. Instead of multiple people sharing one body, it was one person with multiple different bodys (or forms). And since we were analysing it this was the first time I ever started thinking of that trope. I looked it up and low and behold: something like this was a real thing. Then one day I began working on a fanfiction about someone with DID. But I had seldom written the first word of the story before I realised: I knew Jack sqatt about the actual disorder. So I looked it up and fell into a rabbit hole. Somewhere along the line I discovered your videos. It really gave me a whole new perspective on not just the disorder but the trope of "evil bad guy alter". I still love magic and I still love the concept of an "evil side" but I do understand how... damaging representing DID like that can be. I understand DID alot more in a real and down to earth sense. And I'm very thankful for your videos that explain and show your experience with it. Its helped me better understand how to write a more accurate character that has DID. I am a bit sad tho. One of my favourite tropes in fiction turned out to not only be rooted in reality but also rooted in horrible stereotypes and fear of the abnormal. I want to write stories like that because I like the trope. But I don't want to spread misinformation about DID. I need to start finding a way to seporate the disorder from the trope but I'm not sure that's possible. Because I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "possession of body by another entity" thing was probably directed inspired by DID and some other related disorders like schizophrenia or something. Where's the line? How far can I go? I could try and make it distinctly clear that it is not DID but then what about- Yknow what? I've got extremely off topic. Back to the point. Thank you for helping me to understand DID from a more personal perspective. I am very grateful that I know what I know.

Some people do think that people with DID are possessed and that is an issue, but there is definitely a difference. You could do a possession thing, but it would end up being very different from DID in order to not be harmful. I kinda worked backwords from the way you did. I was working with a kind of parasite possession which in most cases does not resemble DID at all, but I have a child that has had a parasote since birth and I realized that I had the opportunity to do some DID represe tation there despite it not being DID at all, which is something I will be clear on. The parasite will be friendly, so it isn't the bad vs good trope that you like, it's going to represent other struggles of a person with DID, but without the trauma, which I figured was probably a good thing so the audience is less likely to be triggered by the content. So just get creative and be respectful. Have one that is very clearly not DID that follows the trope you enjoy and have one that is closer to actual DID and isn't a villain. That will further highlight the difference between the 2 especially coming from the same creator.

I have found DID videos that show switches to be very educational and have helped me understand my own mental health. I have never considered viewing someone's switches to be sensational entertainment. I am very grateful that I've gotten to see how others switch, and I believe it can be very helpful for people who don't have DID to see it, to show how real-life switching is not like it's portrayed in media. The more normalized switching is made, the less "taboo, strange or scary" people will think it is. The more people see that those who switch are regular people just like them, and not murderers or people to fear, the sooner the stigma can dissipate. Of course you don't have to share switching videos. You have the power to choose what you share, so only share what you're comfortable with.

“Switching” on camera through movie magic. 💛💛💛 I thought this representation of switching was really cool because it gave me an idea of what it might be like from the inside. No idea if that’s accurate or not but it was interesting AF. Also really interesting to hear Daniel verbalize some questions I have (like “how does the inner world work, and why?”) because knowing that even you guys have things you don’t know about it makes it more understandable that there are things I can’t wrap my mind around because I have no context. I saw the movie “The Three Faces of Eve” as a young child and have been fascinated by DID ever since. I don’t know that I particularly sensationalized it (never believed in murderous alters for instance) but there was definitely a lot I didn’t understand before I started watching videos produced by systems, yours included. I really love that even though there was no switch on camera (which is fine... you guys need to be comfortable and that's all that matters) that you still gave us a glimps into what was going on inside with Daniel saying to Wyn, "Hey, you don't seem like you're doing well...do you need me to finish this up?" and Wyn says "Yes, thank you!" I dunno to me giving us that peak into what might be going on in the head space before a switch means more than just letting us see a switch because you're letting us in on a more subconscious level. I really hope that makes sense. As always I love watching your videos. Hope you all have a fantastic rest of your day!

The first DID video I saw was by DissociaDID about her switching on camera, and after that RU-vid recommended your videos. I think DissociaDID is right that laypeople are more likely to click to see a switch, and then they've interacted with DID a little and are more comfy looking more into it. I think you're right too that sensationalizing isn't that great of representation, and I'm glad DissociaDID (seems to) only sensationalizes thumbnails. I've loved getting to know all of you and the members of the DissociaDID system and you really showed me how complete most alters are and how DID is a coping mechanism. I like how you show your system is living a "full life" and I like how DissociaDID casually switches and I'm glad both systems are doing what they're comfortable with. (Also, I don't see this video as @ing DissociaDID. The DID community seems totally loving for each other and it's been great to see.) I think my point is, it's been cool to see the teamwork of individual systems, and also how the community works together to share their own stories and perspectives. Thanks for letting us into your life and encouraging such a positive community. :)

A lot of people are talking about the thumbnail and I'm a weirdly non-visual person, so the reason I clicked on the notification on my phone immediately (rather than watching it later, though I'm pretty dedicated to the DID youtubers I follow, was because the topic was media representation. Psychology is an interest of mine so I research a lot of mental health facets of information in my spare time. I found DID youtubers by accident while I was exploring information on dissociation in general. I'm also a creative person who wants to write or craft something in the future that is useful for mental health advocacy and representation across the board. But I'm a very disorganized and non-linear writer so I let the ideas develop naturally and it relies a lot on the information I take in that's that's why I make a point to be regularly tuned in to the happenings of the community and their struggles as well as consuming alternative media like autobiographies and research papers from clinicians. I came into this unsure as to whether MPD was a categorized disorder, and the RU-vid rabbit hole allowed me to learn that DID/OSDD was/is and that's what opened this all up. Entropy was the second or third RU-vid system that I discovered and I appreciate their approach to informing everyone. Seeing the different ways any system chooses to communicate compared to other systems has been successful and valuable I think in teaching uninformed people that a system is a network of people just like any other people.

Please know that y'all provided me with hope when I had none; when I was terrified about what the future held for my child. Your video on persecutors gave me the tools I needed to help me understand & bond with my child's persecutor parts. When they recognized they were loved and safe, they were able to become protectors. The transformations were amazing. YOU helped me show my child a path forward that led to healing & thriving. I will ALWAYS be grateful. ❤❤

Hello. To answer Daniel's question, yes you've helped de-sensationalize DID. Through your system's educational content, livestreams with your friends and family (I've only seen Andrew at this point) it absolutely has changed my perception. I will be honest. The inital curiosity of the switching, multiple headmates and learning the individual people in a system is what brought me at first. I.e. Seeing the difference between all of you. But I stayed because I see people who dealt with trauma, survived it, have grown and thrived! And I'm here to cheer you on in your fight to break the stigma. Don't change to match other cause everyone here loves you for you. I like to think internet questions as something that comes from preschoolers. They ask the bluntest questions but never have any ill intent. So for those repeat questions, please pay them no mind.

You have drastically changed my view of DID. I had soo many misconceptions before, "personalities can't communicate with each other, personalities are always drastically different, nothing wrong with calling it multiple personality disorder, the host is the real one, people rarely had more that 5, it could happen to anyone, ect." I could go on and on, it was all this sensationalized bs, and watching you made me realize that nothing I knew was correct. I'm still learning and I'm now correcting the misconceptions I see around me. And if I'm honest, the reality of DID is a lot more interesting to me than the sensationalized non-sense I originally thought. Thank you.

I think that’s interesting because we were just feeling pressure to sensationalize our future videos more because our meet the alters vid with a switch on camera got 4k views while our other vids have around 100-300 views. But everyone actually responded very well to the meet the alters video and no one had any comments on our switch. What's going on with your family member is pretty much what I had with my grandma. Because of my depression, I was very uninterested in things, I didn't move much, I could say I was "lazy" but honestly, I could say I just didn't care. And I remember telling my grandma countless of times that I'm not lazy, I'm actually so depressed I don't wanna get out the bed every day. She then told me that just raise your head up and keep going. I told her "It's the same as if you have a broken leg and I told you to run. And there are no excuses for not running". She then realized how it really is (she was a nurse and had one bad experience with a mental health patient). But yeah, she started crying after that

I think this has to do with the spotlight placed on the "novelty" of having alters/dissociation/memory gaps, etc. The truth is it's not this that really holds anyone down, it's what caused this to happen that does...The trauma and subsequent PTSD. It's just harder to deal with PTSD when your memories are so separated by dissociative barriers/parts of self. I would say that for someone that doesn't have DID, it's like having PTSD while being cut into literal pieces of "self" ... Some pieces are children that are emotionally inequipped to deal with the trauma, and others may be adults at varying levels of knowledge of the trauma and ability to handle that knowledge, and then there are pieces that are better than most people out here at dealing with everything because they've had to in order to survive. I personally think the stigma of not meeting up to some perceived level of "normal function" within society is the real issue anyway though. I mean what does that even mean? And why does it matter if someone can't hold down a job for example? Should that really make them "less than" simply because of that? There are people with no mental illness that have troubles holding down a job their whole lives because they just don't like the corporate model of the "9-5, behind the desk, answering to the man" bull. Anyway, to everyone out there struggling: life is too short to sit around worrying what everyone thinks of you.. Do what you need to in order to survive and be the happiest you can and who cares what anyone else thinks or says. They don't know what it's like to be you. Take care everyone☺️

@@AhsetofAtum that is where it gets confusing for me. some say or belive or educate on what they are. "you can't kill an alter because that would be like killing a part of yourself, and you can't kill parts of yourself"(which is a lie because I think I did, maybe that part of me was dwindling anyway so slaughtering a goldie-looks looking "kid" to get rid of the fact i was still playing with rubber toys up to age 17 while friends 2 or 3 years younger than me outgrew me was really hitting me to hard, like those "oh crap yeah, I'm going to die one day" mixed with 'what is wrong with me? why am I this way? why am I lost in my head like a dumb kid way?" been not the same ever sense. but then it's "no you don't need your own brain to be a person. you can have full consiousness, without a seperate physical brain, but still need a brain to live in, literal people, not a people who think they are people, like storytelling amnesia"

When I started watching other DID youtubers I was initially hesitant to watch the "switch caught on camera" videos because it felt clickbait-y to me, but now I understand that everyone with DID simply chooses to share whatever they feel is most helpful. ive been thinking about if there was a bad a** character with DID on a really cool show such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It’d be interesting if one alter was a witch like sabrina, and another alter was just human and how those two alters could work together in Sabrina’s squad that have both witches and humans who all fight and save the day in their own unique ways. It would be a really cool way to represent all the amazing people with DID without sensationalizing it because they could show all the other conditions that come with DID like fatigue and bad head aches from switches. I loved this video. I think it's important to talk about these things and I felt you handled it in a way that's respectful to the choices other systems make. Spoiler(? is that weird to say?) --------- Using your 'transition' idea seems like an interesting way of explaining different 'types' of switching, if that makes sense? Reaction to a trigger, stepping up to help, an 'intentional' switch. Especially coupled with advice for systems on how to manage each or help with safety ideas. Not necessarily something for you guys to do since it seems maybe it would be more personal than you prefer, but an idea for anyone who might be interested. I know I struggle to explain the different ways we switch because it differs a lot and we tend to need different things around each.

I respect Wyn and her judgment, but I'm worried that this will be a critique of how other DID channels handle their video titles and title cards. 'Clickbait' channels are what drew me into improving my own mental health. And maybe they do more harm than good, but I feel like this is not the time, or the forum, to address it. The community is hurt and being attacked from the outside. We need to support each other on journey we're going through together, present a unified front, and then we can discuss the internal differences of opinion and different ways of walking that path. So I'm pretty sure I'm wrong and being concerned about nothing. If anyone can make a suggestion to reassure me I would welcome that. Wyn, if you're reading this, please understand my concern is not personal. I trust you. And please, as everyone else is saying, don't do something you're uncomfortable with, or that will not benefit your system, just for us. We need to see you look after yourself first

Hey Miss L, imo I don’t think she criticizes channel who do switch on camera. I think it’s a personal choice for each system. Just like some systems decide to not share anything about their Littles. I think Wyn and Daniel made some valid points in this video, about trying to normalize it. I don’t think they we‘re attacking anybody just giving their own personal opinion on the topic and I do agree, even tho I was drawn in by the idea of the switching and the perceived „weirdness“ of it. Yes, DissociaDID argue the same. Jade once put in a video, she said that they often heard people that 'came for the clickbait and stayed for Nin and got educated'. Also, if you look at for example VLOGs from Piñata and DissociaDID, they do struggle. Just going to the mall can be a hassle for them And this also deserves their representation. I think it is like every human thing. DID is not equal to DID. And I enjoy Entropy's video style as much as Pinata's. And srsly, the switches are not that exciting, when Nin writes 'X switches' in the title, I am more excited to have a video with several alters than for the actual switch. (it's RU-vid man, one likes the personality of the creator(s). Like, one reason I like DID channels are the personalities of the alters, I just genuinely like them.)

No. I just meant I don’t have a curiosity to see it anymore.

Of course I’ll respect whatever decisions she and her system make.

I discovered this channel and DID RU-vidrs in general through your "how to write a character with DID" video. That really lead me to start research this and other disorders so I can be a better mental health advocate. Thank you for helping me learn ❤️

I've been subscribed for a very long time and I was so caught off guard because of that thumbnail XD I truly appreciate the diversity in this community. Every DID channel seems like they have a different take on how to present themselves and I learn so much from all of them. As a fan and an ally, I love learning more and while the switches might've brought me to this topic originally there is so much more to learn and appreciate from systems like yours and others.

the editing and pacing in this is genius. was hoping you guys were gonna do a "dramatization", and this was super well done, plus did a great job of addressing the pressure and stigma. probably one of y'all's best vids to date (and y'all always knock it out of the park).

When you were looking off camera, and put Daniel's voice over...I honestly thought it was just your significant other being like, "Hey maybe you should try to record this later?💕" And then I realized you were doing camera tricks. Love it!!

Questioning here, can definitely say that the Entropy system's videos have been extremely helpful and approachable to learn more about this disorder. Just wanted to say thank for all you guys do, truly appreciate it.

I love the switch shown here! It really felt like one of our own. When I get overwhelmed, Liz will put her hand on my shoulder and say, "Easy there. Let me step forward and you go breath." That being said, I, too, find DID incredibly interesting. I love to see how it effects everyone differently. I love learning about different alters and how they've learned to navigate the world they've come into.

I didn't know that DID even existed before watching you guys. I do not have DID, but your videos on trauma and effects of it have helped me a lot. By now I watch your videos for further education and entertainment, like any other channel I am subscribed to. I have really come to like all of you who are regularly on camera and feel like you are my friends in a weird one-way way. Thank you for everything you've done and everything that is to come!

This channel helped me understand DID more. It just helped me reconize that I might be a possible system and bring my possible alter up with my therapist. I believe if I didn't have this resourse things would be so much more difficult so I just want to thank all of you.

I mean, switches are cool and all, but the most interesting thing for me is how y'all interact with each other. How your relationship dynamics change. How you grow as people. Switches are cool to see for the first time or two, but at the end of the day I just wanna see cool people dealing with life they have.

I am SO thrilled by what this video turned out to be. When I saw the promo for it, I was like oh I hope Wyn doesn't feel like the recent situation has changed how the channel HAS to be. When I saw what it is, I literally clapped. Great video, Entropy System!
