Welcome to our RU-vid channel!
We are loving family that live in Bamboo Huts in Rural Thailand. Damo (me), Ryan (my husband), and Otis (Our Son) spend our days taking care of the land and the animals and enjoying each others company.

Formally Ryan worked for "The Coffee Club Thailand" Chain, but now we have opted for a simpler lifestyle, and living in "The Now". On the vlog we will show you what it is like to live in Rural Thailand, details on plants we grow on our land, and most importantly our honest and authentic selves, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I really envy when you asked your wife if she wanted you to go back to work in Bali and she said no... just lovely... on the ants... I use a mixture of water and dish washing soap and spray away.. keeps all the bugs off my tomato plants etc.... Keep the videos coming!

Boron is a naturally occuring mineral essential in vegetable farming. Many soils require additional boron for good vegetable growth. Ants hate boron. Also its important to build a well structured soil and in time ants will prefer to go somewhere else.

You can’t always measure wealth by your bank account or job. Looking at your family and life, I would say you are a rich man. We have one week remaining on our 3 months n Thailand. My wife loves MK, great duck and green noodles. We love watching you interact with your son. I guess we are now banana farmers, having planted 250 plants during our visit. for this price, I would have use an external screen. Also you could try to plant flowers around, it will brings a bigger variety of insects that helps controlling pests.Chicken also really loves to eat ants.

I’m quite jealous of your lifestyle. Happiness has no price tag. I use to live on a small tropical island and had a Betel Nut Planation, (Mak). One of our bug sprays was simple dish soap and water. It leaves a film most bugs don’t like. Needs to be applied frequently. Keep the videos coming. I miss Thailand

I didn't believe this until I tried it and it works. Just the common chalk stick that were used on blackboards....Take care Jeff

@@lifeinruralthailand If no luck with the chalk, white vinegar in a spray bottle will deter and kill ants. You can put half vinegar and half water in a spray bottle or just vinegar and spray the garden or house......Hope you have some luck Jeff

Diatamaceous earth is something you might find handy for ants and things with exoskeletons, it cuts up their carapaces and its cheap, safe and maybe good for you. Give it a google mate. Loving your videos

Fully endorse your approach. I worked at a high level for many years sacrificing family time which is lost forever. I anticipated a retirement in the West Indies with my late wife who sadly died in her early 50s, 9 years ago. I now value every second of my life, and preach to my children to ensure their work/life Balance is right. You cannot buy time it is the most precious commodity. Use it wisely.

Ants in Thailand are serious opponents. In one case I came in to brush my teeth and the cap on the toothpaste looked like swiss cheese -- they'd chewed holes all through it to get at the sweet toothpaste - and it had been fine the previous morning. Even here in the states they seem to like electrical parts and wiring. Had a mechanical sprinkler system controller destroyed by ants building a nest with eggs all within the gears and motor - so I'm not surprised they went after that relay on your car.
