Of course you have to replace the tap... Now that you are experienced with, in the water, replacement, the next one will be stress free... Hot water or a heat gun softens the plastic hose for removing or fitting ... It took me many skinned knuckles to work that one out...
That’s true. Next time it will be a bit more relaxed. But with this experience it depends on the condition of the valve - we were lucky that the valve was in a good condition 😊 Thanks also for the advice with the hose 🙏🏻
either buy a kit of various size taper plugs/bungs with hammer, or make up your own to suite your thru holes .they should be in your safety spares lockers/
Thanks so much for your Tipps. We have different kinds of plugs and most of them are connected to a seacock. It worked well with a plug from the outside.
That’s true and absolutely not normal. We thought if it would be the same if we life in a city instead of a sailing boat?! The diving bottle you can pump up with a handpump, with a compressor or another diving bottle. It’s very flexible 😊

I once did a quick seacock change of the engine while in the water, had extra pump close to hand and was near a crane. As it was from the engine I could not plug it from the outside, otherwise I would have.
What is the advantage of a hydro generator? It makes you slower and while going with motor it needs power. I think solar and wind is much more effective.
For us it is super good, because we always gain energy during sailing. It makes us just around 0,5kts slower but the energy production is very good. If we go under engine we don’t use it. But we also have solar and the combination is for us a perfect setup.
