Maybe check out Green dream project they are also in coaches county and building an off-grid home with sandbags go check them out they are Jim and Jess. I believe they have 40 acre's there . I used to live in Cochise County in Sierra Vista. My Grandmama is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Douglas, AZ. We moved there from the East of the United States & about 7 months later she passed away so after about 5 more months I left & moved back East. I think it's bcuz I missed her so much that I was looking for "home" again. However, I never found it cuz it had died w/her. It's approaching 20yrs ago that she passed away but I still carry a place in my heart for that area of AZ. I hope someday to make it back out there even if it's just for a visit. I wish all the best for y'all in this adventure.

Really enjoyed your story. I am looking to do the exact same thing. I own 10 acres in Nevada, but I actually like AZ better. Looked at Pine, AZ last week, but might be out of my price range. Regarding homes... I built an earthbag house in WY and it was brutal and very time consuming. This time, I am thinking about rammed earth.

So fun to see these older videos as I only subscribed in 2023. Your story--starting in Tennessee to this homestead--and now (March 2024) with a goat barn and several structures and your kids almost grown is so encouraging. Those kids know what it means to be truly human in a way that few young people or older adults will ever know.

In terms of you wanting to ‘green’ all of your property; I’ve seen some Utube visors about different projects undertaken in China about how they went about converting desert into green oasis’s! What an interesting journey you are undertaking with your family. I take my hat of to you both of you. Well done. Your children as they grow will be so well educated in life and values that so many people do not have. We were fortunate to do a move from one english speaking country to a spanish speaking country , we did not travel as extensively however we knew what we wanted to do from day 1 and that journey 20 years on has left our now grown up children with so many values they would never have had should be have remained in the UK.

wow! That is inspiring. Downsizing for good and learning with the process I found you by searching the composting toilet, you have such a funny sense of humor. Now here I'm watching all of your videos. I'm from Central-West Brazil (Goiás) and I know that feeling of working our own land. Waking up and hearing Gambel's quail calls (I think they're from AZ.) and stuff. I hope someday ahead on future I can do that here, sustainable. Keep up with the good work.

Hmm... real dreamy n all, but... it seems slightly unfair to your children to keep them so removed from social interaction. I mean, sure, you are good, sweet people and you have a huge family, so there is some good social skill development going on, there. They all seem very well-grounded and sweet, too. But, they will only ever learn to navigate your own tribe's social structure, not how to get along with other tribes' social structures, y'know? And, how the heck is anyone going to find a date... or, more... out in the middle of nowhere, with only family around? Not that it would go all that well, if they only really have their main experience with one tribe, and no experience with how to mediate the sacrifices involved with combining with another tribe (i.e., building a family of their own). It sounds like you are the types to not make sudden changes without a LOT of thought. I am sure you have thought this all out and had your share of worry about just this aspect. But, could you share that part with us? How are you ensuring that they will develop good skills at getting along with the rest of the world? Liked & subscribed. Good stuff. I hope you don't take my wondering wrong.

I know y’all Boone dock a lot but I live in my ‘71 airstream for school and was wondering how you keep it cool inside during the middle of the day in summer and the a/c can’t keep up. Any ideas?

I am validated that I not only miss Arizona because I am from there and my family is there but because there is something so gosh darn special about it! The people , the food, the culture , the weather , the scenery , the prices , homeschool laws, more freedom , the time zone , NO stupid daylight savings time, etc. , I could go on and on 😁 We had to go to NC for work and are desperate to get back home , AZ, we may have to do the airstream to accomplish that but thank God for inspiring people like you all ! Great job and I know the heat you have working in (from Pima county right next door, & we own land in the AZ white mountains) , tough cookies ! It will be great that you can work all through the winter for the most part with decent weather.

Missing you guys a lot. I’ve started watching all the older videos. The order might not be correct but the way you set goals, research and execute your plans are inspirational. So wonderful to take your kids on the road. I think when you live in a small space like that and you are traveling around to new locations, this kind of makes you draw closer to the people that you’re with because you realize that’s who you can count on.
