Thank you for addressing the "superbike" thing! Those comments in the previous videos were getting on my nerves too lol. I totally get the fun of building a small bike. It should be a load of fun. IMO more people should be on these smaller bikes. There are very few guys that really have any business being on a liter bike. It's fun to ride a bike, or drive a car (Miata for example) that you can really wring out and get close to the potential of the machine.

As a TST customer and an avid track junkie, 2 seasons, I am dying to see the HP numbers. I run a stock block and head R3, with a full Hindle exhaust. I did a dyno day on my stock motor and ECU put out 38.24 RWHP. I was and still am so very proud of it. Sent my ECU for a flash based on my specs and hope to get above 40. 41 would be awesome! I think your Frankenmotor will pull 49-53 RWHP , 50 will be my best guess. That would be a sight to see and hear. I know you will be doing outside passes on sweepers against bigger displacement bikes. Keep up the great work! Thanks for the upload.

We will definitely do an episode from the dyno tuning session. That is too hot of a topic to pass up. I may have to tease it a bit. What happens after I give this info away. Will people keep watching the series to see what comes next? We still have so much to do, and still have to race this bike in our race series here.

I love that you guys put so much focus into the R3. As a recent 321cc MT-03 owner, almost everything available for the R3 works on my bike too, so it's all good! Keep it up, and I can't wait to see this engine in action, and see the HP and torque dyno curves.

I have had my fun on bigger bikes, now I really enjoy riding a slow bike fast. I just wish that manufacturers would bring the big bike tech down to the small bikes. KTM is the closest you come to getting all the big bike tech on small displacement bikes. Keep up the good work you guys are help people like me get the things down to our small displacement bikes.
@TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 6 лет назад
I do believe that more tech will be trickling down to the little bikes because of the increasing focus on the smaller displacement. The reason why the market in the little bikes is getting hotter is because big bikes cost way over 10-25k now and the little guys are affordable. There will have to be some equilibrium reached though because more tech equals more money that the manufacturers have to charge, and then that starts the vicious cycle again.

Great video Bart! Thank you for the Spears enterprises shout out. Greg been helping me on my R3 race build. Thank you again for addressing the so called experts on a super bike. It's a hard line as a racer to follow and keep a bike in the production class. Just cutting the frame puts you out of class. Just upgrading master brake cylinder puts you out of class. The list is just getting started too it's so easy to be out of production class.

Hahahahaha...danm, take 2 for the team!!! Cool, i used to race 250s in South east Asian some year ago, and for us the best result was Pirelli SC 110 front - 150 rear. We offer the building service of already verified configurations to racers and track riders of high marketing value. As far as pre-building configurations that sit on the shelf and wait for a purchase....I don't think so. There is a lot of time that goes into building an engine properly so the investment has to be made up front, and then that investment just sits there and there is no knowing when it will sell. We do plan to do that with the Supersport version of our build though because a number of race series has the same rules and we can potentially have interest from many racers who use these bikes.

Our episode lengths will vary depending on what we have to show. If you've watched any of the previous ones you know that already. Our videographer was gone most of the week and we also had a bunch of things going on outside of the racing program this week. We didn't want to fabricate content, or drone on with more words about the same subject, so we just decided to do a short episode and focus on gathering better content for the following week's video. I felt it was better than skipping an episode. Anyway, I do appreciate your comment. These types of comments let us know what the viewers are thinking, and after all we make these videos for you guys, not ourselves. If you have any additional input I will be very happy to hear it.

@TSTindustries

The flywheel has pickup bumps for the crank position sensor. We didn't want to have to re-engineer the CPS system for this iteration. This is an experimental setup so we have to test and tune everything, and see if it makes a large enough difference to go further. We can go further with it, but for now we will hold at version 1 until fully tested.

I’m still waiting to hear how much to have you and your companies to make my 06 FZ6 into a race spect Engine haha! And I still need your engineer to make me a custom wire harness haha
@TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 6 лет назад
I would not want to do too much to a FZ6 motor since there aren't any off the shelf performance motor parts available for that engine. Designing these parts from scratch and convincing partner companies to do one-off pistons, cam grinds, rods, etc. would have so much opportunity cost associated with it that the price I would have to charge is unrealistic for most people to pay. If you are serious about this you will first have to tell us what you want done to the engine, and then we can discuss our recommendations and associated costs. The harness service is only available to racers, sorry.
@zanehopefz6hundred761
@zanehopefz6hundred761 6 лет назад
TSTindustries haha, agreed. In fact Yamaha just discontinued the oem wire harness! Assholes haha! I’m just looking forward on getting her rebuilt. @TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 6 лет назад
I'm telling you, get yourself a good condition harness from Ebay. They are dime a dozen and you can find a seller that guarantees that the part is good. As far as your request for motor work, the specs you gave outline a lot of custom and one-off work. Unfortunately we can only perform this level of extensive work for machines that will be used in highly visible racing environments.

Making videos has become very time consuming and expensive and we have a business to run. I do want to come back to making these videos because it has allowed us to interface with some interesting individuals and also show a different side of our company that most people didn't know about. Once we get back to a point where another full series is prudent to make we will do so. We started filming episodes on our N400 and R6 builds for this year and then just the time sunk into the actual work took over and we didn't have the ability to shoot and edit proper episodes to engage our viewers. A lot of the actual work on the bikes happens around the clock; during emergencies we are on it at 3am, during short times between racing events we are on it 24/7. It is difficult to get our videographer on the task in suchh a hectic schedule so we just do what we can. I do pledge to do another project like this in the not too distant future.

For our purposes we are trying the current compression ratio to note results. We have a bit more clearance we can eat up to make a higher compression ratio. We will do that after we denote results with the current configuration. There is a point at which extra compression no longer does anything for a motor configuration. Remember, you are using up work to compress the fluids in the chamber, and at some ratio this work absorbed into compression is more than the added gas expansion work extraction. We will find the optimum ratio for our configuration, it will just take some time.

It depends on the track. The most common one currently for the tracks where we need to stretch legs is 18/52. But that depends on the track really. We already have the technology to flash the ECU, but we are still working on getting the best set of parameters for our customers, and a way to explain what advantages the customer will be getting. These bikes have so little power so even if we give you a 10% bump you may not feel it and be disappointed in spending your money with us. The R3 also doesn't have secondary throttle like on R6 and R1, so there is no way to cheat the rider into thinking the bike has more power, or is more responsive.

Hey Bart, thanks for your awesome response. I love seeing youtube channels take comments serious. As I said before it really was a minor complaint and I kinda feel bad for just throwing that comment out there without any context. Looking forward to the next video's!

We aim to throw up an episode every week. I have to drop the stock motor and install the SB motor in the bike so that will give us some footage to capture for you guys. The triple clamp components should be coming off the machines soon so that will be another topic we will get into. We will also have to break in the bike and dyno tune it. So much to do. We probably will split all that up into a few episodes. At the same time, we still have to do all the things in our business that pay for all this fun we have. We have some part launches coming up, new designs being finalized for production, others just being started. At the moment , besides just this R3 build I have about 12 projects going on at various stages of completion.

hmm you said ama regulations, but i dont care for ama when there is fim and if you look up the fim regulations for superbike/superstock1000/supersport600/supersport300 you can see that a r3 can never be a superbike in these regulations so mayby thats why your "superbike" causes you so much hassle in the comments

LeXeL I see, instead of reading the literature I suggested you are just going to argue with ignorant assumptions. I have a solution for you if you want to be busy with arguments. Go on Facebook, post any politically charged comment....the peeps will keep you busy. Bart out!

haha why are you so salty about my comment? i just wanted to show you another point of view that can explain the "superbike" confusion here and not make your definition invalid but hey its your channel, you can call whatever you do the way you want it, i dont care however if you think i use ignorant assumptions when telling you there is worldwide regulations that excludes the term superbike for a r3, then i must think you are just ignorant for your AMA aka US centered view and not even recognising there is a worldwide regulation in place and viewers here can be from all over the world and mayby have never heard of AMA
