Hey Mark, thanks for keeping this stay at home mom constantly inspired and motivated. We’re in the rural Appalachian mountains of Virginia and I’ve been revitalizing and restoring our family homestead. We’ve spent the spring building a raised bed veggie garden inspired by you, and fueled by your knowledge and positive attitude. Our property is HUGE and daunting. It’s far more overgrown than the beds in this video, and we’ve got morel mushrooms instead of pumpkins, but we’ve been really “getting into it” ;)

G'day Jennifer, as a stay at home dad for the past 14 years, I know how you feel! When Winter began to give way to Spring, my favorite thing to do was to go out into our big garden, walk around, and see what got left behind before it was put to rest for the Winter, and was coming back up. Mark, you have to always keep well hydrated! About the Blue Berries, could it be that they developed so well because they are normally developing under the shade of other plants (I am thinking about the alpine varieties)?

Beginning of September here in South Florida and it’s time to get the garden ready for our growing season ( just the opposite of our northern states). My garden is an overgrown disaster from our very hot rainy summer and a mild case of Covid. Thank you for showing your overgrown neglected area. Neglect because of time, illness, priorities can happen to any gardener. Thank you for being open about you back area. It is a comfort to see I am in good company.

Remember to always stay hydrated. Especially in the head. I thought I could do without it, myself and ended up really sick.

A few rolls of weed barrier could really help your cause. They’ve helped me a ton. They keep my walkways 99% weed free, and they’ve really reduced my bug population by reducing the weed population since bugs love to breed in weeds.

Make sure to use the WOVEN weed barrier-- not the non-woven. Check out Living Traditions Homestead channel for details.

We were starting to do the same thing and clear out our garden enough to rescue the last of our watermelons and zucchini. My garden is attached to my pig pen so we are going to open the gate and let the pigs clear out the garden once we are done for the year. We still have a bunch of pumpkins growing.
