4:00 Use a snatch block off one of the trees on the left, roll it out that way off the road. That's how we move rocks and trees. 👍✌️

This is lucky u weren't there when the rock came down! But ,this is were carrying a chainsaw to cut down the trees along side the road,also carrying a portable drill,fully charged and a generator to charge it ,along with a long concrete drill bit,at least 15 inch,and a steel tube you can insert in the hole,a pointed bolt pin,and drop in a high powered rifle bullet,(there should be a hole thru the top if the pipe to put a wire thru,which u will prevent the bolt from dropping till u pull it out the pin will drop and set off the bullet,) This might not work,you may have to drop the pin by hand,make sure the pipe is pushed in the whole real good!keep back ,keep bystanders and galkers far away,as this will Crack the rock,reducing it to another smaller peice,repeat until u can clear a path! Also,in the movie,jaws,circa 1977,they used a shotgun shell,specifically designed to be screwd into the piston head, to bang start the deisel motor,these too would be handy for this purpose,adjust pipe size accordingly! To fit the shotgun shell. Up in New Brunswick,a youtuber showed this device ,as a new brunswick bang stick,it had a chain and spike welder to it so it wouldn't fly up in the air! You tube shows the idea I'm talking about! There was a movie about an angry cop retiring who hijacked a bus cuz he didn't get a fare retirement or similar,his favorite line was"Always be prepared Jack!"

Ps While bushwacking in your 4x4 or 2x4, how much food, water and warm blankets do you carry ? Or, a 2 way radio or a loggers radio (Amazon or Alibaba sells1 that can find the logging channels ull find marked on fire service rds here in bc and other provinces,here in British Columbia a prospector is required to have 2 way radio)but, thse are useless if you can't charge them!,contues below note, (Note,if you are a prospector,don't buy the green etreck one that has A geotrecker program, as it's system,you'll be telling everybody where your claims are and all the kids will be looking to play the game on your claim,I sent etreck a msg saying this is a bad idea,but this unit actually tracks where u walk weras my new yellow etrechas a trip program I havnt tried,but it keeps a log of your rd trip,but some of its program is useless,and you can't input gps way points to find boundaries or your backtrack!!) if you can't charge them,can't plug them into trees!!!,(I had a new (green etreck) one that had a bad battery, right out of the box,so test them out,leave them off the charger and see how long they stay charged)and depending on there range are absolutely useless if no ones monitoring channel nine,the emergency cb channel.And if u carry a small solar panel or generator,u can recharge your radios,boil water in an electric kettle.which means bringingg one,or a small propane or coleman cook stove and a frying pan ,woods sells a compact cooking camping unit complete with a small frying pan,2 small pots,and and a small kettle for about 50$up here in Canada at Canadian tire.. Yes ,your Startin to haul a few things,but ur not at home,hypothermia can set in faster then ud expect! warm sweaters or jackets or winter coats,sleeping blankets good for minus 10 celcius,it still snows and is cold up at higher elevations. Then theres your horse,got 2 spares tires,a hydraulic jack?most scissor jacks ,I find are not reliable also carry a couple of pieces of 2x6 and maybe a short peice of 4x4 !I got stuck in a rut in the bush a mile from a rural road in New Brunswick,the wood helped get the jack up near the axle,so I could jam mud and sticks under it to get out! Scissor jacks tip over and after about 10 uses,the thread ,that actuated the scissor,does strip,I got my tire off n on just in time b4 the screw stripped and the jack came down these are not reliable,so never count on them,but keep them as a backup unit. Also a 2 and a half foot long length of 2 inch pipe put on your 4 way bar will give u more leverage and power to turn your wheel nuts,if u don't have a portable electric socket gun(wrench).note,most cars come with a tire stick wrench,but it's at an angle,or some kind of compact tire wrench,get a decent 4 way tire wrench,these fit most smaller lug nuts,but if it's a 1 ton dually rig,get the right tool to change your tires, nothing like a flat in the bush you can't change! My 1 ton required several blocks of wood to reach the axle and I used a 8 ton jack,cuz there's nothing like having enough lift if your packing a heavy load ,a puny hydraulic jack not rated that won't lift your 1 ton or heavier truck is useless! Remember what Jack says:alwaysbe prepared!!! Not one forestry officer or rcmp replied to my testing my 2 way radios or anybody else! my new ones go 48 kilometres or 30 miles,not far enough to reach a major village,town or cop shop,or search n rescue. Also carry a water filtration unit,drinking water from a beaver pond or other untreated water,will give u the beaver fever!4 days of stomach cramps and diarea!or a trip to the hospital,I was given a shot to relax my bowels after the zebra muscles ate all my food in my stomach, turning a big steak into diarea! Last but not least,notify someone of your plans,a local police or forest ranger,get a topographical map of the area,if there still snow on the rd your on,turn around and go back the way u came. Carry a shovel and a 4 foot long pry bar,to heav rocks out of the way,your not superman! Also,logging rds DO NOT LEAD TO CIVLIAZZTION ON THE WAY IN,some just loop thru the bush,some are only wide enough for a big logging truck,some u can't turn around on,to skinny,be prepared "Jack",also Walmart sells a medical bag with bandages a ice pack that is air activated! and some tweezers etc,for 16 bux! (Note: last winter google had me going in circles in Winipeg,new rd that is a circle going in a circle around the outside of town,it's called a ring road,stupid idea!), and its not always reliable we had a girl use Google map in Northern New Brunswick,it lead her out into the bush logging roads where she ran out of gas,had no food and was there for 2 days before a person came along and helped her,the roads up there just loop in circles out in the bush and back to the mills,(which are gone out of business up there,so there's not much traffic)with some cross cuts,I managed an afternoon and got back on a 1/4 tank of gas,but the next time I tried ,I thot I was on the same logging rd,spent almost a full tank of gas,and a few hours wandering around till I came out miles from where I went in! Just be aware like in your situation u found the rd blocked on return,there is also a possibility that more rock is ready to come down at that spot ,so be careful and get done as fast as safely possible! Don't let a day cruzing the back 40,become your worst nightmare,and don't take cars that are not designed to ride higher then 4 to 6 inches off the ground,out in the bush,I call them "pavement queens" only good for the asphalt or paved roads! and city parking lots! Also I had a dodge 4x4,so I tried to climb a 40 ° slope in 2 wheel drive ,no go,so its necessary to have a 4x4 out in the bush as a 2 wheeler might leave you stranded or stuck!in 4x4 mode it climbed up that slope! Mitsubishi I think makes a 4x4 thats incredibly good but it's not jacked up,no ground clearance,which is really a necessity in the bush or trails!it's light 3nough to go over early morning snow, but midday the snow becomes soft and impossible for this little car,as well as others. See Mats towing on RU-vid,for all the tourists that think a rented car makes a good 4x4,and get a Toyota or Honda civic stuck in the desert,and often the jack is missing!He gets lots of rescue jobs from ppl that don't think and aren't prepared for offloading!ppl with no experience and no business's using a Honda civic or being in the bush without thinking about what they are doing! If you don't know the back roads ,my advice is do not go too far in,if your car or truck breaks down,your in trouble,also carry a couple of 5 gallon gas cans,FULL OF GAS OR DEISEL.runing out in the bush can cost you your life! Critters@When I lived outside Thunder bay ontario,had to walk home in winter ,almost 20 miles with my dog, my knees were frezing up!, a bear hadn't gone into hibernation and was following us for a long time,and then there's cougars and Yukon lynx as big as German shepherds! You tube has some stories about ppl going down unmarked rds,only to be snowed in and die in the Washington state area,if your not in a 4x4 or just trying to save time getting home,stay on the paved road you came on,sleeping at the curb for a few hours is better then what a family did to try and save time,they ended up on a logging rd,someone cut open the gate, they didn't see it and thot it was a short cut home..(the husband died ,he walked thru snow in summer city shoes with no coat thru the bush,without a compass and a topographical map,they found his body miles from his car,but the family was just a short distance from a small village thru the bush!) as it snowed then in while waiting for help That won't come till spring logging! 6 months from fall! So,don't think like a city slicker,always be prepared Jack!Enjoy your adventure,but you never know what may be around the next corner more fun or mayhem. Regarding strangers, be carefull with them,not everyone is a happy camper,they can become violent or hostile or desire your car in a twikle of an eye! Perhaps having a handgun open and ready in the bush is a good idea,but don't get syched out and suspect every one is bad most, want to help!and check your spare tire for air is it aired up or flat?before you go! I've made a mistake on that,would've been stuck on the Cassiar highway in Northern bc with bad tires! Jack says always be prepared!

Hi enjoy your channel had a few questions on your rig? Do you have a d30 or d44 front axel, did you re-gear? I was also wondering if you put heavier springs in the rear for the extra weight? The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering moving to 37s on a dana 30 and putting 488 gears in then going to a rhino rack and roof top tent that can sleep 3. However that plus all the other items is a lot of weight on the rear suspension
@CoddiwompleOverland

Thank you for the compliment! We are running a Dana 44 front with 5.13 gears. As far as springs, we went with Clayton Off road's Overland + 3.5 suspension system. It is designed for the extra weight of an overlanding vehicle. Hope.this helps!

The intent was not to scare people away from doing this type of adventure. It was intended to show a realistic view of what can happen and that you must be prepared, especially if you are alone. We recommend always travel with a second vehicle if possible. If its not possible, be be as prepared as you can. If you are new to overlanding, we would welcome you to make a trip.with us. @@OverlandGeneration thank you. i will consider it. i REALLY want to see these places i see in videos. as for wandering in bear country..i most likely would not wander far from vehicle. at the moment walk with a walker. as for bear spray..dont have it..YET. but i do have a big can of RAID!!! works on 2 legged as well as 4 legged and winged. pisgah and cherokee..smokies area are my intended targets when the day comes. hope to boondock at least 1 year before i have to go back to sticks n bricks. it will be me and my tiny dog but really leaning toward adding a good german shepherd to the pack = eyes..ears..nose..teeth!!!!! security without worry of batteries or solar. im afraid at my age the "what ifs" become a bit scary when alone. Thank you for the compliment! Those 3.8's seem to go for ever.. That is what is in ours. A winch is definitely a must have, especially if you are alone.

why not use the tree save as a pivot on a tree and drag th boulder to the side of the road? I would assume that you weren't carrying a cable block.

I was carrying a snatch black and yes that would have certainly worked. We just pulled it back out of the way enough to get by

@@CoddiwompleOverland very cool...was actually talking to a friend of mine about this 2 days ago..curious as to how u have it hooked up if u don't mind sharing?
@CoddiwompleOverland
@CoddiwompleOverland 3 года назад
Don't mind at all. We have it hooked up through a lighter plug that wired up in the back. We only have a single battery system and can run the fridge 2 nights and still be able to start without any issues. If we need more than that, we also have a Jacket 500 that will run it almost another 3 days

@@CoddiwompleOverland sweet...sorry if i'm bugging u and if so just tell me...but if u were to place a 2nd battery in the back is there a way that a small solar panel could be hooked up just to charge the battery for the fridge? i'm not very mechanical or tech savvy...i'm new to all of this and trying to get as much info as i can...i've got the jeep now i just need to get it equipped and get out and do what ur doing...
@CoddiwompleOverland
@CoddiwompleOverland 3 года назад
Yes that is possible. I haven't found a need for a 2nd battery on my setup. I am looking into adding a solar panel kit from Cascadia 4x4 to the hood of my jeep.

Fantastic video. Just what I've been looking for for quite some time. My wife and I want to buy a Jeep to do the same type traveling in New England and along the East Coast, but it's been near impossible to find a couple like you that's traveling on the East Coast and not just out West. My 1st time on your channel,looking forward to seeing where you go next. Subscribed! cheers

FYI - You could've skipped the winch altogether and pulled that rock out of the way with just your tow strap and Jeep.

@CoddiwompleOverland 3 года назад
Gaia is just a mapping app that you can view files on. You have to downlad gpx. files from other sources and then upload them into Gaia. For this trip we generally followed the Smokey Mountain 1000. You can find them if you do a search for "Smokey Mountain 1000 gpx file". I hope this helps and thank you for watching our channel

For heavy pulls snatch block back to your Jeep doubles pulling power. Did this to pull a motor home out. Saves possible overtaxing winch or breaking line.
