If you are reloading precision rifle ammunition, this is a GREAT tool to have. I show how you can use the L.E. Wilson Case Gage Depth Micrometer along with a case gage to quickly and accurately measure shoulder bump, and setup your sizing die.

the gauge measures where the HS is, but you have to size the case to where you want it.... correctly. Fast strokes on your press gives inconsistent readings. Holding down on the end stroke for a few seconds or more allows for proper forming of brass case.

I don't load "precision" rifle ammo, but I do use the L.E. Wilson gages. Quality stuff.

great video but my question is why you don't back out the die 1 full rev. and see rotating in every 1/8 of a turn ?

Will the Wilson gauge work with Hornady case gauges?

Once you determine the best reload from your already existing method, do you then start determining the best bump back depth for further accuracy improvements? Or do you adjust for what gives you the most brass usage?

Can you just use a bump gauge from Hornady with a caliper

Nice video as with all your vids. Question, where can I get an exploded view of the marks, which is labeled what reading each mark portrays? I'm confused AF how to read the marks and the Wilson instruction are just text and useless to a neophyte like me. Thanks.

Do you need to have one of these for each caliber casing or will that one item you show is good for all rifle casings….this only determines if you need to shrink the case back correct?

Is negative 3, three past the O mark going clockwise?

So do you need this micrometer too or will just the case gauge work?

Gavin, Your checking the length by just holding pressure down on the Micrometer against the Creedmoor gauge / not a glove. gage, then getting your measurement, on your Creedmoor case gauge? Is it only marked Creedmoor on the case Gauge like mine, not 6.5 showing?

I have discrepancies between the case gauge And the classic comparator. Why?? Which is more accurate?? Thanks

In a previous video you used your dial indicator and the case gauge to measure setback. Isn't this just another way of measuring it?

Will one micrometer work with all cartridge case gauges or is the micrometer cartridge specific?
@NickFrom1228
@NickFrom1228 7 лет назад
It works with all but you need a case length gage for each cartridge.

I just purchased this tool and do not know how to set recalibration it to zero. It is slightly off. I used the allen tool and removed the screw but get no adjustment. The instructions say nothing about recalibration. Any suggestions?

Wow- heard back already! Here's how you do it: 1 Loosen set screw 2 Back out micrometer top 3 Grab scale portion and turn clockwise and counter clockwise to loosen pressure on set screw pad 4 Dial mic portion back to zero 5 Set on top of Gage Block 6 Turn clockwise until spindle bottoms out on top of Gage Block 7 At this point you zero will be close. 8 Fine tune by moving scale sleeve clockwise or counterclockwise to set zero 9 Tighten set screw

for remy 700 r5 I only neck size
@Ultimatereloader
@Ultimatereloader 8 лет назад
+raoul pabon Neck sizing is great, but at some point you typically need to FL size (after several neck-only sizings) in order to get the brass back into "chamberable" dimensions.

Sorry, you just measured various pieces of brass. Since none are the same - what in the heck are you suppose to do? You talk about “if you are loading precision ammo” but are well beyond those who wish to start vs already there.
