Owners PANIC Selling Toyota Tundra. Dealers Refuse Tundra on Trade.

It seems a lot of 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra owners are panic selling their Tundras. Currently, some dealers are not taking them on trade or offering wholesale value at best. If you own a Tundra, just wait it out. The biggest depreciation hit has already occurred.

Extended warranty... recall to to replace it with the same POS engine... Neither solve the problem. They didn't recall the hybrids because the truck can still go if the engine grenades itself. You still have a truck that will only run until the battery goes dead with no way to recharge it with no engine. It's STILL a catastrophic engine failure. They are still saying they don't need to fix those. It's a buncha BS and until Toyota is willing to ADMIT what the problem is, no one is going to trust them. EDIT: They are STILL making these trucks with no plan on how to fix the problem.

Toyota will play its hand out just like Hyundai did winding down their warranty period with the 2.4 Theta direct injection engine. In implementing a longer warranty period, they also demand owners bring the vehicles in for constant service done by an authorized service center and potentially voiding warranties for vehicle that have been serviced by owners or other nonqualified personnel. Potentially weeding out thousands of vehicles while the warranty qualifications create demands that will disqualify many owners for warranty work. It's very disheartening that the government has no real protections in place protecting Americans from piss poor engineering and experimental designs. Hyundai went for quite a number of years continually producing engines with proposed metal dust left in the engine during production. The behavior and thinking a warranty is the cure all equal to changing or fixing the problem at the production line is Ludacris. Protecting Corporate America is the primary goal, not making Truck purchasers whole. My guess is, Toyota has no proof of any failure definitive in nature of a Metal dust being the cause of the issue. Sure, i believe metal dust exist in examining a failed engine but I'm not convinced it is the cause. I think Toyota is ripping pages out of the Hyundai play book and calculating their limited liability for the next 5 years. And that many owners are in for a hell of a loss in doing so.
@AyaWetts
@AyaWetts 10 дней назад
In the USA they cannot void warranties because you go it services elsewhere... You have legal protections to already service it anywhere you choose. They cannot legally do it, but you may have to go to court to fight them, but there's been several large and class action cases about this, and the owner protection laws have stood up. I recall Harley doing this for years, and it took years in court to fight them to make them stop voiding warranties though. Hopefully Toyota's legal team would be smart enough to not let them make illegal acts.

What people need to keep in mind is that any amount of machining debris left in the engine will cause damage. The amount of damage depends on how much debris was left which can vary and/or how often the oil was changed early on. These engines might blow up in the first 50k me or at 150 k but would have went 300K had there not been any debris in the engine. The fact that 1% of them are actually blowing up doesn't tell the whole story.

I am certain Toyota is going to come up with a "solution", but I honestly fear it might be a solution that most owners will not be happy with. I think Toyota didn't want to stop selling the 24s even though they know some have died due to the same issue. If they issued this recall including the 24s, they wouldn't have been able to keep selling them. They probably will add more to the list if it becomes more widespread, but I bet they feel that the 24s are still covered under full warranty anyway, and no need to add them to the recall yet. If the debris issue is truly what it is, there may have been some stragglers in the 24s that got slightly older engines that were affected. Bought a 2024 1794 limited edition based on Toyota’s rep and having owned a 2014 1794 and a 2007 FJ and 2015 4runner. I had no idea these issues were happening. Very upset. At the EPA and “Others” pushing this based on ideology. Than you for your measured analysis. It’s refreshing compared to the fear porn and hate porn nonsense.

Thank you. I hope you have good luck with yours, I really do. I was someone that was looking at the new Tundra for a while, almost got one. I had a 2017 TRD for a bit, loved it but couldn't fit my 4 kids as well as the Sequoia. I actually really like the way they designed the new V6, larger stroke for better low end torque, forged components, port and direct injection, cast iron liners, proper cooling for all components. I think if you got a good one, you should just enjoy it. I'm hopeful the debris issues is not just a lie. But I can't imagine people just dumping them and losing 20k off the top, seems like a terrible decision financially. Worst case scenario if I owned one AND it failed on me, I'd just push for a buyback and you'd get a lot more than wholesale trade values. Otherwise, just drive and enjoy. I'm rooting for Toyota, I have 3 in the garage.

@@TheCarGuyOnline There’s the balance between the modern social media reality where all the dirty laundry gets exaggerated vs when previous gens that where allowed to go through normal growing pains without a microscope. Nevertheless, we know that the ptb are forcing changes from minimum wage to epa standards to housing to etc…. These changes aren’t just economically, financially, mechanically, etc. based. They’re ideological. So, keep your eyes open…

@@TheCarGuyOnline Thanks for the info on the new V6, I haven’t really looked into details on the mechanics. I’m rooting for Toyota also!
