Fun Fact the actress who played the evil school principal got her start in the 1960s by being a whip dancer for the Velvet Underground. So in reality she was more punk rock then any of these kids. I also heard all the teenagers were in awe of her.
Thank God. Broadway musicals are wretched and ruin everything. They're sanitary, boring, anodyne, desperate, and annoying. And worst of all - family friendly. Ugh.
@@josephirizarry5195 you must hate fun then also a lot of media are musicals you like Disney movies? You like musicals, you don’t hate musicals you hate certain types
Brilliant bit of 70s cheese! Look closely at 0'51, the props guys went to all the trouble of setting up the tape deck so you could see the VU meters flicking and the play button pressed down, but they forgot to power up the amp, I guess they thought everyone would be too busy staring at the gym gear :)
There was just something about women back then.. may just be my personal preferences usually liking thinner framed but wow everytime I see a 70's or 80's movie evey single girl is beautiful.
When I first saw this movie, I liked Riff because she reminded me of a girl I had a crush on. But with each successive viewing, I found myself falling in love with Kate Rambeau. She's just so sweet. (Apart from her being the one who actually BLEW UP the building... heh.)
I lived it - it sucked. The music on the radio sucked - only college radio was playing The Ramones. The cars were either piece of shit gas guzzlers or very tiny imports with slightly better mileage. The ties were big and the suits were polyester. There were some great movies and some great concert tours in the period but, all in all, between the total crap on television (cable was only just beginning), Nixon and Ford, air pollution, and the ubiquity of Dorothy Hamill haircuts for girls and feathered hair or perms for everyone one else, it was grim, very grim. The only things which gave me hope were The Ramones & Punk, Parliament/Funkadelic, and the underlying presence of Stanley Kubrick.
I like this movie & the sequel, I like this version of Rock 'N' Roll High School & the sequel's. I also like that song playing on the tape player the girls were exercising to when Miss Togar came in the gym. I wish I could remember what it's call. Does anyone else know?
I remember this movie way back in the day. Riff Randell was hot, but I thought her square friend was a real cutie. I never noticed before but Riff either has very tan legs or she's wearing pantyhose. Either way, her legs look nice.
I remember watching this when I was 12 years old with my first girl friend and my older brother chaperone we all had a great blast but we knew no way was riff 18 but knew it was a comedy as for now mrs soles grandkids can say my grandma rocks better than you haha smile (also love her in stripes the kitchen scene with Bill Murray )
I want America back... I’m a 22 year old LEGALL Immigrant in the state of Massachusetts, and I assure you America doesn’t look anything like this anymore. :( Which makes me really sad cause it’s what I came here for. How on earth could you guys screw up such a great country so bad, it’s beyond belief.
@@hammill444 Back to not being fake. Back to people being genuine. Back to people having real relationships, real friends that they could count on. I can hardly ever see kids playing outside. It's like if everyone decided to live in their own separate islands. I want people to care about one another again. I want neighbors to know each other. I mostly blame all of it on social media but I know it's not the root cause of everything.
