Like the bulb test I should add that’ll my test routine really, have admit it’s to easy just to throw a o2 sensor in & ship it out but that is such a simple conformation of the power & control side it’s worth the few extra minutes to be 100% certain. Nice one 👍

This is the best video i've found on 02 sensor heater circuit testing, and explained very clearly. What's the easiest way to test the signal and ground circuit with just a simple multimeter with no scope, and test lamp? Thanks
@SYDiagnostics
@SYDiagnostics 4 года назад
you can test the signal with a multimeter by connecting across the sensor heater supply and the signal, you will get a reduced voltage as the signal is a duty cycle, so lets say the vehicle is running at 14v and you see 7v on the multi meter, then you have a 50% duty cycle.....or, if your meter has duty cycle, then you can go battery negative to signal wire and duty cycle and the % will be shown......a cheap £1 12v led bulb will do the same too and flash like my test light

hello what is the oxygen sensor function on a diesel /fuel trms or may be monitoring oxydation cat.cheers for your videos.
@SYDiagnostics

O2 sensors offer the ability to exercise finer control on fueling, DPF, exhaust gas re-circulation rates and boost pressure control, which in turn helps in optimizing emissions and better driveability.

without looking t a wiring diagram i cannot confirm, however, have you a 12v heater supply at both sensors......On this video the 12v supply to the heater was a common feed from 1 fuse

Hi, great video. My wife's kuga 2016 2.0 tdci has the same dtc p0135 and when carrying out all the tests the sensor is reading within spec and I have 12v supply at connector, when I check across 5&6 after clearing the code there is what seems no control from pcm( I presume the pcm sends a ground to activate the heater?).. any idea what could be the issue? I haven't got a wiring diagram to check between sensor and pcm. I have pending code there after start up once cleared and swapped sensor with a good known one just to eliminate even though it tested ok with the multimeter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
@SYDiagnostics
@SYDiagnostics 3 года назад
The switching signal isn't straight way and can take a short while, you could have a faulty pcm or a wiring issue
@scottycossie1
@scottycossie1 3 года назад
@@SYDiagnostics yeah I left the light connected and car running for quite a while and it never lit up. I will need to find a wiring diagram and carry out tests from there to pcm. I can't seem to find a diagram online though. Is it common on a kuga for it to be wiring or pcm ?

@@SYDiagnostics I didn't have the sensor connected to the harness when I was using the test lamp, I just cleared the code then went into the terminals or the car harness as per your video with the test light and nothing even after running for 5 mins, even tried it from cold. Still no control from pcm. Test light is working fine as I used it to check the supply pin.

usually the downstream sensor isn't a broadband sensor and is a 4 wire sensor. You would need to a wiring diagram to work out which wire is the correct wire. My latest video covers p0141

SY Diagnostics I feel for you it must be tough without the things you love to do I’m in a better position I’m one man band so taking all precautions and keep on working otherwise would go bananas if stayed at home all that time Even went in today as had interesting one 2008 transit FWD 2.2 was running poor could hear PCM cutting engine off to prevent damage read the codes high fuel pressure then fuel pressure solenoid valve And so yes fuel solenoid valve stuck as someone says SORTED BOOM 😂 Anyway I reckon me to going to make my own leads as I go as you say these plugs from harnesses seem much stronger
