The V70 recently failed the MOT due to the parking brake efficiency being so low. It's always been terrible but this time I decided to treat it to all new parts.
Parts used were all Delphi
Discs: BG3515.
Pads: LP1504.
Shoes: LS1884.
Spring kit: LY1324.
Now for the first time in nearly 7 years the handbrake actually works pretty well.

You can fit manual adjusters from the P1 on the shoes near the front of the car , adjust them through a wheel bolt hole . Hope this helps

I had seen that but wasn’t prepared to do it at the time. Fortunately the full refresh has done the job for now. Mad that the P1 had adjusters and the P2 doesn’t.

It's one of the pre MOT routine jobs I don't look forward to. Definitely not the best design, unusually bad for a Volvo. Even with brand new components it's still very difficult to get good efficiency.

The last 2 years I’ve had to disassemble and rough up the shoes and drums with coarse sandpaper but this year it just wasn’t enough. I don’t know what the efficiency is now it has passed but it’s the first time I’ve ever been able to properly trust the handbrake.
