Update to anyone passing by this video: after looking at pictures I sent them, the P80 people say that I have uneven pin holes in the back of the frame that hold in the trigger assembly in it. They recommend that I epoxy and re drill it. I am kind of miffed because when I took it apart and put it back in the jig (is that the right word?) it looks like it is lined up just fine. But maybe it got loose or something, its possible, and the pic they referred to does look a little uneven (imgur.com/WewO1Q8). I will try redoing it soon. Edit: I drilled a bigger hole and that made it work pretty flawlessly now. I could probably try and fix it by adding epoxy and drilling it again but, eh, whatever, it works for now.

If it's your first build, check your slide lock spring. I just fixed mine which was caused by the slide lock spring not being seated all the way. I really had to push as hard as I could and it finally went in. I noticed it had rub marks finally after racking the slide about 80 times. In every video I watched they pretty much just dropped that spring in there, so that's what I did. It was sticking up just enough to stop the slide if you didn't really let it fly, just like yours but still functioned. I sanded down my rails and tried a couple other fixes which didn't fix the problem, so now that the spring is seated properly it's smooth as butter. Even though it wasn't the problem, it's interesting my rails were so uneven it took me about 20 minutes of sanding on a diamond stone to make the fronts even with the rear rails. I removed trigger and reinstalled the pins and put it on the stone so front and rear would be perfectly in line).

That doesn’t make any sense. If your holes are indeed correct, then you shouldn’t have to re drill? Check out MGB channel there’s a video on it. But you may just have to polish your rails. Can I ask how you drilled your holes? Did you just use a regular drill?

put stripped trigger housing in with out rear rail and put pin through. If pin goes through your holes are good

It's always the hole. I really think a big batch of the jigs had it misaligned. I've seen so many people with the same hole not lined up, even people that built many that were flawless so it's not like it's people that don't know what they are doing. It's always the left rear rail pin hole

The front wall of the slide's ejection chamber or the sharp edge might be rubbing against the front of the barrel's chamber as the slide comes forward. If so this can be fixed by sanding that wall with 400lb sanding paper. To break that sharp edge at the top use a small file.

It’s the slide lock spring trim it a lil at the bottom

Thanks. I had the same problem and took a dremel to the bottom of the spring. Bent it back up for a little extra tension and now we have a smooth slide.

Just did that to mines cuz I noticed a lil binding when pulling the slide back and looked at the slide lock sping and seen some wear on it filed the bottom where it goes in and it’s smooth now 🔥🤙

This is what I tell people to do before milling out a P80 frame. First get two small C-clamps and clamp each end of the jig to keep everything squared up, this will prevent misaligned fire control holes for the rail and trigger assembly. Drill out first the holes then remove the tabs. The rest can be finished with a Dremel

You got to shoot it and break it in since it’s an aftermarket slide and the internals are brand new

Oddly, this is the first one I have seen where the Rail was pulling to LOW. Normally the issue it sitting to high due to a Frame clearance issue. Placing the Gun back into the frame and pushing the Drill bit into the hole backward will give a quick indication if the Holes are true and straight through. A Slight ovalling of he Rail hole downward on the Low aide will allow it to right at the right height. This will not affect the trigger housing since it has its on set of holes.

Take out the rear rails and turn it upside down and sand it a little bit in the area that pulls at the slide. Then polish the hell out of it with a polishing bit on a rotary tool.

@@ronjacobleonador3781 I found out why, it's cuz the jig was off alignment when drilling through the back pin area. So I drilled it wider and it doesn't bind anymore. Problem solved!

The plastic tab on the frame is higher then the rear slide rail height. File it down to match the rear rail height. It is snagging the rear slide cover.
@darklight4815
@darklight4815 4 года назад
I think mine is snagging that plastic you're talking about..thanks,I'll try it.
@badcrcz
@badcrcz 4 года назад
The reason it's higher though is because his left pin hole is drilled wrong (according to p80). If the pin hole is off and he files down the plastic the slide will still be uneven. Hard to tell because the left hole has some discoloration below it in his pics but in the vid he says it matches up to the hole in the jig. I would level the jig and put a drill bit through with an archery level on it and see if it's level between holes, or measure the hole distance to the bottom of the jig on each side to make sure the jig is right if the holes all line up. If that's not it maybe the top of the frame is out of spec and that plastic is sticking up on the one side.

I think it's their jig cause mine line up perfectly in the jig but they are slightly uneven if you look at the back of the frame and mine is doing the same thing, if I take out the trigger assembly and just put the slide on the frame with the barrel and recoil spring, its fine
@timferguson6455
@timferguson6455 3 года назад
Only thing I would ask is did you drill the holes first or do the side rails? Another youtuber cut the rails and then drilled the holes thereby causing the frame in the jig the ability to twist/turn just enough to throw a hole at another angle.
@Timmy2Tough
@Timmy2Tough 2 года назад
While they recommend to drill holes first, it’s the sub compacts that are crucial because of the shifting issue.

I have the same problem with the slide. I just removed that trigger pin completely after seeing your vid and it didn't fix the binding I'm having. Without the pin the rails and trigger go up too high and appear to bind from the top side of the guide rails. I can see through that hole and it looks perfectly centered. After I drilled all the holes on each side I went through all the way with the drill bit and they seemed to be perfectly aligned. If I push the muzzle with my palm the slide goes all the way forward, so I'm thinking the recoil spring is binding up (which I saw in another vid) but I sanded the recoil spring area smooth. I went too far in one spot and I can see a little silver from the serial plate now, hope I didn't screw it up. I'm at a loss for my problem. For your problem, one option could be to sand down the rail guides on the underside just slightly, but I don't know how safe that is. I saw one vid where the guy was having binding because the guide rails were too tall and he ran it over a wet stone a little and it solved the problem. Depends how much it's binding I guess. Search for "Polymer 80 PF940C rail quick tip", I think if I was you I'd try that first and see if it helps before patching frame and redrilling.

Rob A. Sounds like your barrel and slide tolerance is too tight as the barrel angles up. May have to sand the inside of the barrel
@badcrcz
@badcrcz 4 года назад
@@Ben-lo7cy I forgot I posted this, thanks for the reminder. I solved my problem. The slide stop spring was sitting too high and recoil spring was rubbing on it. I could see rub marks after racking slide enough times. Pushed it down hard so it was flush and everything works great. My buddy built one and was having all kinds of FTFs, FTEs, stovepipes, etc. His problem was the barrel channel wasn't opened up enough around that front lug. We were swapping parts for weeks trying to figure it out and that was the problem, easy fix. His showed no rub marks either, so it must have been just enough to cause a problem.

Rob A. Yea my buddy is going through hell with a 26. He bought it as a set from a shop. Has no idea what brand parts they are and they mill the slide in house. I’m gonna look at it for him but I’m not an expert.

@ethanc6406

So it turns out it was the pin hole in the backmost part of the grip that needs to be drilled, it was ever so slightly just a little off alignment and widening the hole got it to operate correctly, tested with idk, 250 rounds one day.
