Aaron Rodgers will go down as one of the best QB's of all-time, but not everyone predicted his greatness. The Packers star reads his negative pre-draft evaluations, and reveals his affinity for holding grudges.
Im a GB fan, and if u watch his college highlights u can kinda see what they meant. His realese and throwing motion has improved alot since being in the league
@@Hopper830 Yeah, kinda makes the educated part a little weird. Generally an over educated QB is going to be pretty easy to coach aren't they? GB did a good job working on his release and mechanics before they showed Favre the door.
Ricky Royal23 yeah i have a strange feeling that was back in the day when they were telling every young qb to train their mechanics to be exactly the same as peyton manning
"Can't create on his own". LMAO. That has been the majority of the Packers offense for the best 5-6 years. No offense to Mike who is a decent coach but that is the truth. In the 1st 5 weeks before he got injured, Rodgers has been running for his life. He played 2 games with two guards playing as the right and left tackles cause they literally ran out of tackles!
Some of that draft profile was correct for the time. He absolutely did not handle pressure well and got sacked too often because he wouldn't get rid of the ball quick enough. But after his many concussions and years dealing with a bad o-line, he became one of the best QB's at handling pressure and creating plays. That's what separates the good QB's and the bad ones. Every QB who comes into the league has problems, it becomes a matter of which QB's have the work ethic and coaching necessary to fix them.
Not necessarily. There have been a lot of times when an underneath WR comes open, but one big thing that sets AR apart from other QBs is stressing a defense by keeping a play alive longer, waiting for something deeper down the field to develop. I'm happy Adams got retained this offseason and expect a speed weapon to be added in FA or the draft.
Every QB in the league is a system player, and that is normal cause the QB is a position that relies on the whole system and every single player. That is not a bad thing, Only QBs I can think of that don't have a good system around them is Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers who both have to make magic happen. They have to buy time and improvise cause the plays their coaches call almost always break down.
The fact that almost every fan of football compares their teams QB to Brady lets you know where he stands as a QB. Even if you're speaking poorly of the man, you're in fact acknowledging that he's one of the greats. Both Rodgers and Brady will be in the Hall of Fame one day. Let's all grow up and appreciate greatness, because you'll regret it thirty years from now.
7HE W0LV3R!NE lol yeah Just you asking that question does not deserve an answer. But ill give you one. The Pats have a hole they fix it with FA immediately.. The Packers dont. Nuff said.
Just like when they fixed their TE hole with Martellus Bennett? Just like when NE fixed their defensive holes and won the Super Bowl this year against a backup QB? Every QB wishes they had a "system" like NE. It is pretty easy though. We had 32 teams win the Super Bowl this year because they all had a system. NE is NE for a reason and it's because no one has been able to recreate their success. But obviously you have experience as a GM and head coach so it sounds like you should just walk into 1265 Lombardi Ave and demand both positions. Good luck.
I love how all the knocks against him are like his greatest/most apparent attributes. "robotic", he's so fluid now, he doesn't even have a stance and he just slings it. "Can't create on his own" obviously we know what he can do getting out of the pocket. "can't change the release of the football" does this all the time
Rodgers kept all of his rejection letters in the past as motivation too. So keeping that negative draft profile was nothing new to him. Lol But crazy how things have changed.
Caden Presley No wonder he gets the label passive aggressive. He keeps it all inside but notes it. It must burn his craw inside. But, as he says, he uses it as motivation, which is hard to find as he gets older and accolades pile up. A very smart qb. A much better interviewer than uncontrolled, emotion Brett Favre ever was.
Exactly I didn't think that was a bad assessment. In college he was pretty robotic and had a tendency to throw the ball with the same release no matter what route his receiver was running. At Cal he was conditioned to throw the ball with a traditional release like most pocket QBs, but when he got to watch Brett and took over the Packers a lot of plays were designed to get him out of the pocket and throw sidearm, or scramble left and sling it because he had the arm strength to do so. It's easy to laugh at these scouting reports after a player has grown and showed out in the pros
While I don't watch tv much (mostly live sports) and I just found out this is a thing...whoever came up with this it is a GREAT bit! How freakin' awesome to see players reading these!
I can remember in 2008 in Aaron's first year starting when we went 6-10 and telling all my friends (that were either bears or vikings fans) that they'd be afraid of this guy soon. He just needed experience and failure to know what he needed to do to win. I hope with the new GM that maybe he can have a system around him to win; even if it means losing Jordy.. I say that begrudgingly though.
I was pissed at the Pack in 2005 for drafting Rodgers and not addressing their biggest weakness on defense at the time (linebacker). Well, for 3 years until Rodgers blew up the league I always figured they shoulda went with Channing Crowder at 24.
The film of all that I have seen of him at Cal he looked pretty darn good but it's not a lot just a few RU-vid highlight reels but you have to say he's certainly proved them wrong in his professional career
One of his knock off was his drop back mechanics.. if anyone remembers the ball was cocked back when he dropped back which he fixed while being a back up for farve.
Gm. Once said it was divine intervention. I agree. God bless his soul. Jordan deserves the keys to the new kingdom. Let him learn. And make mistakes. We all need to learn to be the best. Rodgers had his time. Time to start a new chapter. With Jordan love.
I’ve been a Cowboys fan all my life and I really don’t Rodgers due to the fact he would always find a way to kick our ass in last minutes of the game. But he is one of the best quarterbacks of all time in my opinion. He can do it all , and I have found myself a time or cheering for the packers a time or two . I’m really glad he proved them wrong ..
would of loved for a least one scout to be named in video am just wondering is they are still employed in the industry but maybe they were involved with some of the teams that did not draft a future hof player enjoy gentleman
Not sure exactly who these 'expert' Pro scouts were, but one thing is for certain....if an NFL player ever screwed up his job as badly as these idiots did with this analysis, the player would surely be cut. Here's hoping these scouts lost their job too.
Problem is we don't know what positive things were said. These negative things could just be the scouts trying to cover their own asses. Maybe the overall analysis was glowing but they have to fabricate a few bad things incase the player doesn't pan out. If you write a bad draft profile, completely slam the person and they turn out to be a great player. Great! But if you write a glowing draft profile, the person can do no wrong and they end up getting drafted in the first round only to become a total bust. Then people are growing to question your competency as a scout.
this very video is why I dont listen to people like kiper and the like. they get half the shit wrong despite claiming to be experts. most 1st round picks aren't even in the league anymore after 5 years.
This would sound accurate Brady, but not for Rodgers. I would've expected more of like "forces his throws into tight windows" or "inconsistent against stronger defenses" in a rookie draft report of him.
@@hindsight_is_2020 Injury prone? What 2 seasons where he was out? Played an entire year with a bum ankle. Love a Favre but Rodgers is leagues above him.
Wow...think they were a bit off maybe?????? Kinda wish the 49ers had picked him but anyone would have struggled with the turnover in coaches and coordinators at 49ers in those days
@@TRG92 honestly though he's not actually 6'2". He's really a flat 6'1". 6'2" according to scouts is perfectly good height for an NFL QB if they have a little weight on them (like 220+lbs).
I remembered saying he was the best player in the draft and hearing Mel Kiper say Alex Smith. So now as my Fins are about to draft a QB, I’m so glad that idiot is saying Herbert over Tua to again prove him wrong.
While I don't necessarily disagree with you, I think it's important to note that Aaron was drafted and was able to learn from one of the best in Favre.... While Alex Smith had like 6-7 OCs his first 7-8 seasons.
@@benb5228 Rodgers has been doing it for 12 seasons. Talk to me about Mahomes in 10 years after a few years where he doesnt have one of the most stacked offenses in the NFL
"Can't create plays on his own" Lmfao. What? The dude seriously makes unbelievable throws out of the pocket when the protection breaks down ANNNDD not to mention he's the king of the hard count and making a big play on it.
If you credit Rodgers with every packers victory he’s participated in then you have to include him in all the packers losses as well. The truth is he’s gotten the job done once so far and I believe his best years are behind him. He’s not even a top 5 qb now. Mahomes, Brady, brees, Lamar and id put Watson ahead of him as well. Sweet, the dude can throw but when’s he going to win again?
lets you know how full of shit every scout is and they cut and paste whatever 1 person says and thats it.... I remember Aaron Rodgers I was at the game in the coliseum Cal vs USC and all I ould say that day was who the fuck is this... this kid is maybe the greatest QB I've seen college or Pro I cant believe a player can throw the ball this damn good at this age no way. He had the whole Coli buzzin vs USC when they were a mini-pro team.
Full disclosure I'm not a Rogers fan. These idiot draft scouts literally named all his strengths. How could you be that bad at what you do and still have a job?
