Palak received admit offers from two of the top MBA programs in the US - Vanderbilt Owen (with Forte Foundation scholarship) and Georgetown McDonough. However, her journey to these brilliant programs wasn't the smoothest. We caught up with her to learn more about her application journey.
Palak graduated in 2015 from Delhi University, and is a CPA holder. For almost 7 years, she worked with KPMG as an auditor, closely assisting some of the biggest financial services firms in the world while moving from being an audit assistant to managing large teams.
After working with senior leaders in the space, she decided to apply for an MBA to move to the other side of the table. Instead of auditing business strategies, she wanted to be the one formulating those strategies.
However, her biggest challenge came in the form of GMAT prep. As a senior leader in her firm with long working hours, she could only devote so much time into the test prep.
This is where Palak turned the tables. Instead of going forward with the GMAT, she chose the Executive Assessment test - a much shorter form of the test offered by GMAC, the organizing body of GMAT.
Palak reached out to us for help with her mock interviews for Vanderbilt Owen. The strategies we suggested to improve her answers helped her secure an admit not only from Owen (along with a nice scholarship), but also from Georgetown McDonough.
During this interview, we went into the details of her entire application journey. Apart from discussing her career story, application strategies, bschool selection process and EA prep, Palak also shared highly useful insights for future candidates.
