Hilariously, the most recent update patch just started addressing 'being mounted on wildlife sanctuaries causing you to not become wanted', so that portion of the video was dated literally the second the video uploaded.

What exactly is wrong with a game being fun for the sake of fun anyway? Rare any game these days just wants you to sit down and have fun. Even the devs are chill and are like "Just have fun, if you stop playing we'll be here if you want to come back or not."

ive got 30 hours of playtime and have notices very few bugs and im still enjoying it a lot, all of the gameplay mechanics flow nicely with eachother, I just think the game wasnt for you.

Just a small info. Their other game, Craftopia has NOT been abandoned yet. Since Palworld released, Craftopia received more updates.

FWIW I've definitely gotten my moneys worth out of it. I've paid twice as much for games I've played 1/10th of the time I've played Palworld. Although, that's more of a statement about how AAA games suck now moreso than that Palworld is some amazing product. Yeah, Palworld has issues. Plenty of them. It's buggy, it's glitchy, it feels like a budget indie game. However, as somebody who enjoys survival crafters (can't even begin to tell you the amount of time I've dumped into Minecraft over the years), it scratches that addictive itch amazingly. If you don't like survival crafters, you more than likely aren't going to like it. Which is fine.

Hi, I'm just here to explain food. Glad to see another Stryxo video. 1st, the best food for your team is honey. It doesn't spoil and you can get a ton of it with a single bee pal. 2nd, please don't run around with 1hp. You become a 1-shot by most aggressive pals/people/raids/hazards/falls if your shield can't handle it. It stops you from wanting to do anything the game would like you to do + unhinged gamers will then blame the game for killing them when they die from the weather. For cooking food, though. They come in levels based on what you use to cook them. Raw food - basic and just stops you from going down to 1hp Campfire food - restores pal sanity, which keeps pals in top condition which means working faster, taking less breaks, not stress eating or sleeping through the day Cooking Pot food - Some actual buffs for you and your pals that increase stats and can slow sanity and hunger depletion Electric Kitchen food - It's Cooking Pot+ better stat increases and most slow hunger or sanity depletion. Getting better food is pretty important when you have a pal that requires an entire middle school's worth of food to feed cause they will 100% eat all the food if they stress eat.

Technically right, but he also kinda misses the point. "Palworld isn't the Pokémon you want" true but Pokémon isn't the Pokémon you want these days... "There's no reason to do anything" isn't that true for every game ever? Sometimes you have to decide to have fun.

11 hours to obtain a gun is not a significant amount of time for a “gamer” to acquire a gun. You also complain it took 3 mins to build when you could’ve done something else while your pals built it, quite literally the whole point of the base pals with handiwork. And really, 3 mins… Someone get this man a free legendary pal drop or something for having to wait that insufferable amount of time😩 The whole point of any monster collecting game is to improve your team by leveling them up and obtaining new ones. Saying this is silly, a waste of time, or pointless might be the dumbest take anyone can have who willingly decides to play a monster collecting game. Almost all of the bugs you pointed out were 99% fixed in the update that came out before you posted this. To say the whole point of the game is to hunt pals, fight bosses, and accumulate resources is just stating the obvious. You hunt Pokemon in Pokemon. You fight gym leaders aka bosses. In any survival games, you gather resources. So ya, no shit. That’s the point of the game. That doesn’t make doing everything “pointless”. When it comes to obtaining faster mounts, you are just entirely wrong. Getting Jetragon will generally take between 5 and 15 legendary balls with your catch level being upgraded to level 8 or higher with the Lifmunk effigies. You should just be acquiring a ton of them anyways, while getting to a level that you can challenge him. Ive caught him with one ball a number of times with the capture level at 10. There are also mounts like Beakon that are significantly faster than Nitewing and Vandwyrm (the 2 generally used early game flying mounts) that can be caught mid game at level 29 as a boss. The egg breeding can be adjusted to reduce the time the server settings. If you weren’t having fun waiting. Just change it. The whole point is to have fun right? There are 3 sanctuaries, not 2. You are also labeled as wanted even while riding pals after the patch, so another bug fixed that any other survival indie game would’ve taken months or hell, maybe years to fix. Many of the food options offer either stat increases to you and your pals in your party or work speed and sanity increases to pals in the base. Berries are just the best early game food for their ability to be made quickly. It’s very clear you didn’t get far enough in the game to form nearly all of these opinions. About the only things you got right were how the hunger system works, the surfing pal mechanics, and bosses being too easy/boring. You can just go into the server settings and make things like damage done to player or how much you do to pals more or less depending on how challenging you’d like the game to be. If you want the game to feel like Elden Ring in terms of combat difficulty you certainly can. If you feel like you’re leveling too slow you can adjust the exp rate. Maybe a little more attention to detail next time, and you would enjoy the game more. It’s fun. It’s cheap. It’s an alpha stage game, as self proclaimed by the devs. It blows any other survival game out of the water in terms of combating the time walls they have and combining their best elements. It is functionally better than almost all of them were, even now in alpha, than those were at launch too. This is by far the most misguided and factually incorrect video I’ve seen on Palworld.

Eh, from what I've heard the game is pretty good, maybe it just wasn't for you.

Releases a vid a month+ after the fact with the most glacial takes ever. Not saying all of your critiques aren't warranted when it comes to bugs and not fully fleshed out content, but you also fail to mention it's due to being early access, so it's very much a no duh in that respect. You also fail to mention Pocketpair's past games getting updates after palworld blew up and they now have the capital to actually support them again. But hey, clickbait low quality researched video is exactly that. 10:00 "but hey, why world build, we don't care about original concepts, we just care about the fun". The ceo was quite clear on a fun game being the priority, and even then the game does have lore and world building if you ever read any of the logs, some of which you could see even without reading. Were you one of those "Elden ring doesn't have a story" gamers?

When this game first came out I only saw a bunch of Pokémon fans being mad at its success and now I’m only seeing Palword fans being mad at criticism. The shift is kinda funny

Complaints include, both trailers using shots referencing one of the most famous anime shots in history. Or the fact that you don't instantly die when low on hunger. (Because clearly being on 1 hp isnt a punishment *at all* as he states regardless of the fact you can get 1 shot like that...) Also complaining about the fact they knocked off the churches from elden ring, because no game had churches before then. Oh and not understanding the food system in the slightest is another great one, some foods boost stats and other foods can both fill up hunger more and have said hunger last longer. For every 1 serious critique there are nonsensical complaints thrown in. This watches like someone that just wanted to dislike the game and went looking for everything they possibly could complain about in a video when playing instead of just trying to enjoy the game your playing.

Its fun ,but the mid-late game grind makes it unfun Although its still in early acces so theres still lots of room for improvement PS: Baldur gate 3 was an early acces gane too before releasing and becoming the best game of 2023

Outside of PALs design, which is, yk not original nor exciting, the rest of the "problems" are truly regular early access problems. The game is not done yet, AI should be expected to be janky, stats not being balanced, traversal being janky, not enough stuff to do. These are all ok problems for an unfinished game.

This is a fair critique, but let's not forget this is early access. It's technically not even a complete, 100% ready to go game. Give it a chance to fix everything then make a judgement. It'll probably get better.

The reason dragonquest or digimon don‘t feel like pokemon is the artstyle. They are still the same as shown in that pic with dragonquest and pokemon side by side

I think the issue with everything now is that we compare everything to everything else. I want Palworld or literally any game to be a Pokemon Killer just so people recognize that these games are games of their own right. Not always strung and compared to Pokemon.

At it's current state your are right, it still has a long way to go before reaching it's ''final state'' it's still worth greatly your 30$ if you compare it to the trash that big publishers are putting out. If you think Palworld is buggy and the world is boring you should look at the recent Pokemon games, it's twice the price for twice the buggyness and many times the boring world and it's the final release state.

As a non Ark or survival gamer this was my jam, I also don't own a Nintendo console and even if I did, I'm not a fanboy and what sounds better to you as a value proposition? $30 bucks for a full meal you leave full (and can return to at any time) or $60 for a turn based RPG that's become much more of a bug fest with less exploration. And it's on early access so there's a lot of work that can be done into this, I mean this saved its company and shamed AAA (and AAAA if you're a Ubisoft exec). So yea, for the non pokemon, non turn based RPG gamers along with base builders, explorers, creature catchers and automator gamers, all found something in this and that's what's great about it. But hey, I guess not for you which you know what? Fair enough, it's okay to not like something, no matter how popular it is, I should back your stance because I'm the guy on my anime group who's fed up with being told Attack on Titan is good (when it isn't).

I think the reason why people love this game is because Pokemon is awful in comparison. It's an unfair reason to like a game, because of course you'll love burnt toast when all you've ever eaten is horse shit. But that doesn't change the fact that burnt toast is an awful thing to eat. Also they likely didn't use generative AI for the Pals but there's reason to assume they used a pokemon fusion website to get ideas, especially with just how obviously merged some of them are. Oh and this video started out with like a 4:1 like to dislike ratio and now it's almost 50/50 lmao the hivemind finally arrived.

Am having a lot of fun with this one, fwiw. Few patches that focus on quality of life improvements. Dunno if it'll go the distance, but with the hours I've already put in, already had my funs worth lol But ye, has a lot of room to grow. From my own experience playing PC via gamepass, biggest issue is clipping through / falling through the map. I enjoy the fear of losing your gear on death, but when you lose it due to bugness, not so much ^_^

to be fair most of the issues seem to be able to be solved with updates and seeing that this is early access there will be updates. you cant even go to the tree yet which is another zone.

Just an example of “give the people what they want”. Put a Pokemon like on platforms that can’t have Pokémon, instant profit. Make a game that looks better than what Pokemon is doing, 19,000,000 players in 7 days level profit.

My own two cents I'd like to add: Whether AI was used or not in the game's production, does it matter? If a game is good, it shouldn't matter how it was made. And if a game is bad, being made by humans won't redeem it-- there are plenty of bad Google Play apps that never used AI. Ultimately, I think a game should be judged by its own merits, not on what was used to create it. If the Pal designs are too similar to Pokemon designs, it isn't made any better if humans designed them instead of AI. But that's just my opinion.

I’mma be honest, it sounds like the game may just not be for you in it’s current state and you’re upset the game is currently popular when you personally don’t like it.

This is from an outsider’s perspective - I’ve not played Palworld myself, so take my words with a grain of salt - but this game feels like it’s going to be a “one hit wonder” . The sort of game that come out and is extremely popular while they’re new and relevant to the conversation, but don’t leave much of a lasting legacy. I just get this impression that Palworld’s success will lean too heavily on its gimmick of “Pokémon with guns” and doesn’t have enough of its own, unique merits to warrant most people remembering it or thinking about it a year or two from now. Obviously there will be dedicated fans who stick around for future content updates and whatnot, but I feel that it’ll be a very, very small portion of the millions who’ve been boarding the hype train. This will probably come off as a harsh criticism to people, but this situation reminds of a comment that Jim Sterling made years ago when he did review of Far Cry 5 and likened the series to digital junk food, stating that, “It’s the thing I play while I wait for an ‘actual’ video game to come along.” That’s the sensation that I get from Palworld. It’s a collection of mechanics and systems that, together, can provide an enjoyable experience _in the moment,_ but lacks any traits of a more enriching experience. It seems to be missing the one thing that it _can’t_ replicate from Pokémon: a sense of its own, personal identity. Something which only _it_ has, that it _didn’t_ take from something else.

I do feel like the game is mashing ideas together and should try to make it all click together a bit more, but isn't the WHOLE point of video games to be fun? The games still fun for the most part so does it really matter?

I personally feal like the core reason behind Palworlds success IS its assimilation of different mechanichs from different games. Sure it might be just slop that's gonna be finished in like 5 years, but right now, in 1.5.0 early access is miles better than a fully released Pokemon Scarlet/Violette game (I can say that, bc I played both) Pokemon recently were the same slop over and over, Game Freak getting more and more lazy. It does suck that Palworld is "a breath of fresh air" to gamers, if people aksually voted with there wallest, stopped buying slop based only on nostalgia, then maybe Game Freak or any game studio would get off there ass and start doing something worth while.

Different tastes and all that, but alot of your complaints are indicative of the games industry today. You think Palworld, a game that's labeled as "Early Access" is unpolished slop? I forgot which Assassin's Creed it was, but there was one about 10 years ago that had a quest so poorly explained that people thought they were being escorted instead of the ones doing the escort. How about the Tiny Titan Christian Kirksey from NFL 15? Heck, how about basically every single Bethesda game ever? Skyrim was released 13 years ago and look at that bug filled mess and all the fan mods that are actively doing Bethesda's job. The world is barren because the game isn't even finished. The beginning of the game told you "The Tree holds the key" or whatever, and right now we can't get to said tree. There's at least 6 Pals that were shown in trailers but not added fully (Though their data IS in the game). There's also tons of features that were shown but not added either, like a rocket ship and dog sleigh. Palworld was originally developed in Unity, but because of their greed, Pocket Pair decided to change engines mid development to Unreal 5. Honestly, it's astonishing they even got this much readded after the shift in such a short amount of time. The desire to capture and use various Pals is once again a matter of taste, but it's much harder to care about something new when you're use to how things were. You like Pokemon? Well, it's going to be harder for you to care about other monster tamers and battlers like Monster Hunter Stories, Monster Rancher, or Palworld. That's human nature. I like Pikachu, couldn't care less about Sparkit. It's not a dislike of design, I just grew up with Pokemon, as I'm sure you did as well. Finally, for the "theft of design philosophy", what? GameFreak doesn't own the idea or concept of something. GameFreak doesn't own "electric mouse". "Electric mouse" is an idea that GameFreak had, and they then expressed that idea with their creation Pikachu. How you convey, or express, what an electric mouse is is going to be similar because there's so many ways you can design an electric mouse, as you said so previously when talking about the hedgehogs. An electric mouse is a mouse, will be yellow because electricity is depicted as that color, might have sacs or glands to store the charge similar to snacks or skunks, and will likely have a lightning bolt depicted somewhere on it's body. As for why nobody calls these creatures "Pals", it's simple. Like I said before, people who grew up with something will be hard pressed to change. People don't say "I'll search that for you" anymore, they say "I'll *Google* that for you", even if they use Bing or Ask Jeeves. It's a catchall now, because Google is so common place that by saying "I'll Google that for you", people know what you're doing. You don't need to explain what Google is to most people. Same goes for Pokemon. Some people say Pokemon because it's the first thing that pops into their head when they're talking about a creature from Monster Rancher, Cassette Beasts, or Palworld because most people know what a Pokemon is, it's a force of habit, or it sounds better than "generic monster". And some people just say Pokemon for the memes, or to trigger the Pokemon stans.

7:25 Thank you. I got tired of responding to idiots who kept posting that image and explaining to them that the artwork and designs are extremely different. As you said, when you show pokemon how many people think "that's a digimon!" or "that's a monster from dragon quest!" Practically no one. You see a pal and what is the first thing that you think about? Pokemon. At this point, either they already have a backroom deal that they aren't talking about with Nintendo or they would be getting sued. I would think that it's the former because it's pretty easy to prove that the concept of the art itself was stolen. Talking about concept art, they still haven't shown any, so I'm not sure why people believe that they created this stuff purely from scratch. Tracing models is still illegal too btw.

If I had payed $60 and it was released in it's original incarnation as a COMPLETE game (Which in itself, seems like useless statement, since I don't remember the last time I played a "complete" game that didn't need a day one patch on every console but a Switch), I would have been unbelievably upset. However, seeing the game labeled as early access for $30 (Yes, that price can certainly make a game more appealing) and being pleasantly surprised it also released on Game Pass. Noticing the devs have been fairly faithful introducing updates and much needed bug fixes. With gameplay that may be fairly simple, but no less so than it's biggest competitor? I'm pretty happy with the game.

I love how people want to defend this game by blaming Helldivers 2 and other factors other than blaming Palworld. "BuT iT's On ThE tOp TeN GaMeS oN sTeAm"! Yeah and? Loads of games upon release hit the top ten to just slowly fizzle out. Over the last 2 weeks I've been looking at the steam charts and every other day Palworld drops a slot. It's also funny to see the charts because the player base stats look like a downhill slope, and it's still continuing downwards. Palworld is like a sparkler firework. Loud, snappy, bright ,and good but only for a brief time.

But anyway, i think this video is a bit nit-picky, as someone already stated the trailer is not reused, its an Akira reference, wtf else was the 0 hunger supposed to do???, when you have over 100 creatures, some will inevitably be redundant, and most pokemon are forgettable, but there are like 1020, and they have been around for over 2 decades, while palworld has like 120, and hasn't been out for 2 moths, so ofc there are more memorable pokemon.

So i played a few hours of palworld and i like it I still like playing it knowing that the game sucks in a lot of ways. But this game reminds me of what a lot of games are going through currently and thats retaining a base of players, from palworld to my personal favtiote series (horizen zero dawn and forbidden west). It feels like modern games are having an issue with retaining a replayable factor. Horizen Forbbiden West came out 2 years ago ish now and is having almost what seems like no coverage, wheras ive noticed lethal company seemingly losing players. The gaming industry seems to all be having this issue, whether indie or not and i feel like its a player base thing nowadays
