Thankfully we got a shipment of gasoline and diesel in Bocas yesterday. The diesel was all gone by last night, but there is still gasoline this morning.

LOL, I don't know if you've noticed but through this series your reporting has progressively gotten more and more emotional. 😅😅 It's been a wild 5 weeks for sure!! As I type this, it looks like San Felix and Santiago is closed, but in Santiago it looks like alternate routes are being taken to continue down the PanAm. From what I was told yesterday, the official publication of the ruling takes 3 days. On the 4th day it can be published in the gazette. If that is true, then we can expect a published Supreme Court Ruling on Saturday. We shall see😉😉. TIP Thanks for everything.

This is the way Panamenians are, for better or for worst, this happened last time when the Fuel was expensive and they did the same a couple years ago, even after the Govmnt accepted to lower the gas prices, they still kept protesting and doing road blocks

I live in a gated community in the beaches area. For the first time in seven years, my expat neighbours are deeply focused on Panamanian politics, and the stability of the country. There are serious conversations happening about whether it is time to have a Plan B, other than living in Panama, and whether we need to take measures to strengthen our security given the tolerance of lawlessness.

I am Canadian. Are we now the enemy based on our Canadian Open Pit mining Co. coluding with your Gov? Would love to move to Panama, but.....

Thanks for the update! The teachers block the streets because they want money but refuse to work, and the miners take to the streets because they want to work but can no longer because they have lost their jobs. I understand the latter.

Here is the reality of this situation. Just the legal facts of the matter. There are only 2 possibilities. A) The government will renegotiate the contract with the mine, in which case the country will go nuts and all roads blocked again. B) The government orders the mine closed, and Panama will be on the hook for BILLIONS in losses. There is a Canada Panama free trade agreement, it is binding law and enforceable. The owners of the mine will be due the money invested as well as lost future profits. Look up who the majority shareholders of Quantum are and imagine how this will turn out. I don't see The Peoples Party of China, The US government or BlackRock just walking away with billions in losses. Either way there will be no end to this unless people are reasonable. Thus far they have been anything but. Both scenarios are lose lose for Panama and win win for the owners of Quantum.

What the protesters are saying to the world don`t invest here, don`t vacation here and don`t retire here. They are only hurting the people of Panama.

Now we need a law that makes it a CRIMINAL OFFENSE and 5 years in jail for closing or impeding travel on the highway, because this is not peaceful in any way many people have lost their jobs homes cars, children have lost valuable time in school and some will not pass, thousands have lost medical care and will lose their lives because of it and many have had their time cut even shorter because of no medicine and care! The political folks are the PROBLEM not the people of Panama 🇵🇦 they should only be ones to pay

Why do indigenous people have the right to close down a road that was paid for by US taxpayers? Chiriqui needs to get a pair and set these folks straight! Panama is out of control.
