I have the same set up. I no longer wanted to carry all my gear around. They both suit me well for travel or just going out I love taking the small Sony but if I am going outdoors travel I love having this zoom.

Excellent points. I only have the RX100 I but can totally see it replacing some of the gear I bring when I travel (and it has). Only caveat is with low light, that's where perhaps a bigger sensor with fast glass will come in handy.

you're wrong. RX100's advantage over FZ1000 is mainly its size, so when you're carrying both of these camera RX100 becomes more or less redundant. what you should pair FZ1000 with is a camera with either larger sensor or wider lens or both.

I think you misunderstood the video. I am not suggesting that someone carry these two cameras at the same time. The idea is to travel with them so that you have something appropriate for every situation. These are two very different photographic tools with completely opposite form factors despite the fact that they share the same sensor. The FZ1000 is an ideal bridge camera for just about any purpose but when you can't / don't want a large camera ( i.e. going out to dinner, a concert or other event where a larger body ins't allowed or appropriate) the RX100M3 steps in without compromising image quality or user experience (only focal range and 4k video are missing).
