Panasonic G80/ G85 VS GX80/ GX85
Micro jitter test with lens 14 140 panasonic f3.5 - f5.6 @ 140mm
1080p 25fps F5.6 - 1/50
DUAL IS - ON (5 axis IS + lens IS)
E stabilisation OFF and ON
(extra stabilisation on sensor, it crops in -but no quality loss)
It looks like E stabilisation helps a bit to stop micro jitters, it does crops in however on the long focal length it doesn't matter, it does actually help to get little bit more reach.

Thanks for the test Marcin! Is the G80 footage on the left of the split screen?

is it possible to turn off the IBIS on the GX85 if I want to? same question about the G85

How can you have 5-Axis + Lens IS for Panasonic? The IBIS of Panasonic only provides 3-Axis. The other 2-Axis comes from the lens. What you described in your video is how Olympus does it.

This time I can't agree you can't replicate the same movements hand-held

does the 14-140 have the latest firmware that was released october 2016? i have a gx85 and considering this lens for video. with the latest firmware would the jitter be noticeable?

radialmonster GX85 does not show any jitters with the 14-140mm. It's a great all around lens, only downside is jitters on non IBIS bodies and G85. I didn't find any reports of jitters on GH5 with this lens yet... G85 was the first Panasonic body to include Dual I.S.2 so maybe they corrected this issue on the GH5.

Wow clear difference between the 2 Panasonic has to get their act together regarding the G80

Thank you for this comparison. As predicted, GX80 IBIs is a bit better in terms of micro jitters compensation. E-stab seems to improve G80 performance but jitters are still noticeable sometimes. I hope GH5 includes GX80 IBIS and not the new one found in the G80.

The GX80/GX85 had a crop with IBIS turned on. The G80/G85 doesn't. I believe this is the biggest factor as to why.

I understand. But don't you think E-Stabilization would have suppressed those jitters (as it induce additionnal crop to the G80/G85) ?

My guess is that the 14-140 3.5-5.6 has always been faulty as far as OIS is concerned. Look at all those micro jitters found on footage shot on non IBIS bodies (GH3, GH4, G7 etc...). Since Dual IS rely mostly on IBIS at the wide end and OIS at the tele end, it could explain why the jitters are almost non existent at 14mm but really noticeable at 140mm.

GX80 has Dual I.S whereas the G80 has Dual I.S.2. Maybe there are some slight changes on how it handles OIS and IBIS and make them work together.

It is a great all arounder indeed ! I think next implementation of Dual I.S.2 will be perfect. Haven't heard of any micro jitters issue on the GH5 and it has Dual I.S.2 :)

This jitters appears only on 14-140? Or on other lenses too?

It's not particular to that lens... it's more a question of focal length. You will see that on ANY zoom lens over 100mm. So the 14-140, the 100-300, etc, etc...

so, basically, the gx80/85 still have a better ibis even after the firmware update of the g80/85 ?

Oh, so that's not a big problem there. Well, you sure are very lucky to have both.
