@@MinimalWave1982 I have been hearing and reading the MFT is dead drum beat ever since 2008. Yet here we are in 2022 and MFT has the largest selection of lenses of any system, and as Laowa demonstrated yesterday when they introduced the 6mm T2.1 Zero-D lens, manufacturers are still sinking money into developing for MFT. The only system that is truly on life-support is Pentax and as Leica proves year after year, you don't have to have a large market share in order to thrive. I think it funny that various RU-vidrs who made a big fanfare about switching away from MFT seem to be switching back to the GH6. These same people who complained about MFT being too small, also raved about the Sony 1 inch cameras like the ZV1 and RX100,, and 1 inch is way smaller than MFT. Size, weight, and affordability are major drivers of people to MFT. Video and wildlife in particular benefit strongly from the MFT advantage. And of course, as someone who replaced my Canon 400mm and 800mm EF lenses with the Olympus 100-400 I can assure you that the price and weight saving of MFT teles is incredible and as long as that is the case there will always be a steady stream of buyers for MFT. There are MFT cameras from Blackmagic, JVC, DJI, Panasonic, Z Cam, and Olympus, and more than a dozen lens makers make MFT mount lenses. There is no other high quality format with so many manufacturers involved in making gear for the format. I know that MFT is money making clickbait for a certain kind of RU-vidr, but I feel very confident that MFT is here for the long run..

Wasn’t the Watchtower of Turkey shot on a GH2 or 3? I mean damn…I e had the chance to use this camera and I must say…and hate to admit…I STILL wonder if I should stay full frame (s1 or s5) but as a filmmaking/content creation tool, the GH6 literally has it all for me. Except autofocus but I went in knowing it’s limitations.

As a PANASONIC user... I'm betting on the BMPCC4K. As it's dynamic range is high at nearly every ISO not just 2000.

I think you will be surprised how many BBC exposés, and documentaries are already filmed using just the GH5. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a few BBC news cameramen using GH5 for ENG too. Not to mention a some Hollywood productions that have used GH5’s as B cameras. So it is almost laughable to read these comments on RU-vid or forums how people struggle with the notion of µ4/3 being viable for professional content. Anyone that says otherwise is simply not credible in light of what actually is, and the many professionals that use cameras such as the GH4 and GH5 to make a living… The GH6 is obviously even more capable… …

@Random Thought I don’t agree with your assessment but glad it’s working for you. I know paid DPs who use autofocus when useful. Why not have the feature for occasions? Just because you have a car doesn’t mean you never walk 🤷. Or maybe manual is like the the horse and cart when the car was being invented and the old school pushed back. It is an art form to be sure and I champion manual, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have a tool.

@Random Thought I started filming on film and cutting actual film for editing, I’m not sure what training wheels you are referring to, I like manual focusing for narrative films etc but there are times autofocus is just easier and better. I’m not saying to stop manual ? I’m not sure why people have a knee jerk reaction to just asking companies to give extra tools to help.

It won’t work well, I can tell you that without testing. It never does once you use a third party adapter. You will want to use native MFT lenses if autofocus is important to you Carl

@@ProAVTV I have the GH5 with speed booster and although I know native is always better it is still question many users will have even if bad. Besides, it’s a interesting test if not surprising but a might be interesting to see if Lumix has got any hidden surprises 😇.

It would be nice if they do a 4/3 version of Sony's FX6, although that camera is quite large. Maybe a GH6S and BGH2 down the line?

@@DollyRanch I loved the GH5s more than the GH5. But now I only have the G9 and I mainly use that for photos. I have become a fan of BMD cameras for video acquisition.

That would be great review to watch. His issue with Lumix is the AF (surprise surprise) but Carl has advised the improved AF on GH6 is compromised in 5.7k and using Prores. As I expect Mr Bloom would use the most demanding, top end options/modes in a review, I anticipate he may again conclude the focus isn’t sufficiently reliable (at least in those modes). It might depend on the degree to which AF is impacted so I look forward to more reviews from Carl and others on AF in different modes. As a humble G9 owner, while Panasonic is to be commended for continuously improving AF in its cameras, I hope some of the further refinements of DFD/ contrast AF found in the GH6 can be shared with the other cameras it sells… if the processing power allows for it. A ‘mini GH6’ in the body of a GX9 would be brilliant too!

Which canons and Nikon's are you talking about that are fullframe and £900 new?
