Great and fun review as ever. Please tell Panasonic to release a boxed version (BGH2?) of this camera with the same sensor shortly. This is quite a VR-capable camera as for the resolutions and framerates, but the bigger grip will always be in the frame when using super fisheye lenses (besides the GH6 not being as easy to mount side-by-side at proper distances). It'd be a wasted or otherwise very overdue opportunity, especially at the very low RND costs (for that they already have everything ready for it).

Tell me why that idea never crossed my mind!! Holy moly! It did take about 2 to 3 years from the initial GH5 release before the BGH1 came out. MAYBE next year? If that concept comes to life, you will be the comment that gave it birth!! At least in my book 👌

Great review different form most others (which I also like). AI think we photocentric shooters see a load of potential for a G9mkII. When it comes to features given either the Gh6 or current tech not used in GH6: - Sensor: that 25,2 MP seems unconvincing at higer ISO. So 20 MP O-M1 OR...IMX530-AAQJ-C (24,5 MP, 98 fps, 4/3)? - GH6 hires modes (amazing!). - 5,7 MP EVF OLED 0.83 and Gh6 backscreen; - 30 fps with AF-c or better - OSPDAF would be a godsend for both action still shooting and video focussing. You want pro you get GH6, if it is not that important get the G9 mark II and accept some artifacts; - Video: better than G9 as long is at does not caus overheating; - Same IBIS as Gh6; - Size and weight like a G85 or G95 - No topplate LCD (though I like it), joystick of course - GH6 menu's - More computational tech so bring back 6k modes, live composition, but also add ND64 or so etc. Should be doable, but yeah...I don't think we'll see any new photocentric Panasonic model ever again. If true, such a choice also means I will stick to Oly even more.

Nice, honest and short review 😉of the GH6, the built-in fan and screen is a nice touch. Did Panasonic upgrade display and EVF from the GH5?

The fact that it didn't overheat in the oven test at that bitrate is amazing. The R5 would have spontaneously combusted doing that.

Thanks. still on the fence because I have a gh5 and a gh5s - and I think a 3rd camera has always been needed for an interview set up - this could be the main one. But, I was like many, hoping for better autofocus for when I need to shoot myself and move a bit- or to follow my baby around and want not to miss a special moment. Also, I kept thinking you were wearing a robe!

In UK right now, Lumix S5 body with the 20-60 and a free 50 f1.8 for £1500. GH6 body alone £2000. Give me the S5 full frame goodness any time.

They should put another screen on the back of the camera behind the tilt screen. One screen you can see from the front of the camera and one you can see behind it.

The GH6 sensor is twice as fast as the GH5 sensor, and the GH6 has a new processor as well. So, you'll never get the autofocus in the GH5 as good as the GH6.

真係唔敢講到實，Panasonic 啲機多數都要用落啲時間先知，對焦表現唔多穩定；但暫時感覺上，似好過 a7SII，似唔似 a7SIII 好難講，但感覺上似番宜家拍片好既機既對焦表現；Panasonic 對焦一向淨係識對人，一對死物就發呆，但 GH6 似乎好非常多，好似片中不停對人，對死物，佢都識對

想最好對焦效果，用4K60，不是30，120。坦白說，這個價錢規格，就是沒AF 都抵用。22K 價錢沒有其他機身可以5.6K 60P 422 10BIT ProRes, 4k 120p.

Man the fact that they still haven't given us a -25db on the audio inputs I wouldn't suggest any panasonic camera to anyone! I have the s5 and can't use any mics with the loud input gains, and all reviewers just mention it for a split second like it's not a big deal including you! 😥

Yes the S5 has very high audio gain and I constantly has to set it to the lowest, which still isn’t low enough for some mic! I can’t remember now did I mention it in the first review, I guess as it is “entry level” it is not as important, when I really can’t include everything I found on the camera. The GH6 though has a low gain setting on top of the usual gain control, and I think it is at least at a very reasonable gain range.

:-( still no phase detection AF. Why Panasonic refuses to add the only feature they really should. Do they réalise how much market share they have already lost over this and how much they will continue to loose. Shame.

@@thewalkingvloggingman7152 bruh, chill. it's a tool. I can manual focus all day too if needed using my heavy Red scarlet. However on smaller jobs I like lighter cameras, with features that allow the use of a in focus glidecam. there are many situation where as a solo operator my hands are not on the camera but instead operating a glide-cam, or jib, or complex electronic gimbals shot. Or even with solo jobs I'm sometimes operating the boom pole for audio with eyes on camera. Right now the fuji xh2s is the best well rounded hybrid camera out right now. GH6 is a great camera, but it's 2022..... not 2010 anymore. many serious videographers use autofoocus in a variety of situations where they cant have there hands on the focus ring

If they are not going to have on-sensor phase detect then they to put a Time of Flight sensor on the body. I'm sick and tired of their crap DfD and I will never buy another Panasonic camera that does not have hardware-based focus/distance recognition.

Trust me, they can care less what you don't like, Panasonic has been in business for over 40 yrs and will do things their way, so if you don't like it, go kick rocks!

They are now a very small player in a shrinking camera market, Samsung and Olympus already bowed recently, more will follow. I'm pretty sure they will "kick rocks" before I do, son, so settle down. If you really feel so stongly, buy some stock like a man instead of harassing people online.

Some surprises are hidden. Panasonic has no customer service. Doubt me, try and get in touch. If you are able to communicate with a person please let me know. What happens when you need repair? They have a $199 CFexpress card offer that is not possible to redeem.

Its just dumb to compare full frame 35mm camera with GH6 and they both have different sensor .. lens quality .. processor .. not cause they called CAMERAS.. means you can compare as they are from same company ... you should know better with your knowledge for CAMERAS they give you .. as IF.
