Construction of a Parallel plate capacitor, its capacitance, variable capacitor & how big is 1 Farad.
A Parallel Plate capacitor consists of two large plane parallel conducting plates separated by a small distance. In this video, we first take the medium between the plates to be vacuum.

what exactly does the term potential of a plate mean ? does potential of a plate mean potential "at any point" on the plate,i.e the work done in bringing a unit positive test charge from infinity to that point ?

when two identical capacitors initially charged with q and q are connected,the common plate may get neutralized by plus q and minus q but it becomes minus 2q,charge is conserved in all cases,what exactly the charge conservation means in this case.

sir sigma/2epsilon zero is electric field due to non conducting sheet ...but here in capacitor sheet is conducting. then how can we use this ???

thanks sir in video 2 have two question 1. sheet is conducting or non conducting ?? 2. if it is conducting then when you calculate (E plus) then what about the factor of 2 because the electric field due to a conducting sheet is not sigma/2epsilon where am i wrong?

Parth Kasana good question, many students have this basic confusion. And to 1, it is a conducting plate without conducting plate you can't have capacitor. When I am calculating field due to just plus charge, it will be sigma / 2. Because the net field inside the conductor is zero but this field becomes zero when you include effect of both positive and negative plate charge. Till the time you are calculating field just due to plus charge, it will be equal in magnitude on both sides so by gauss law factor of 1/2 will come. When I have to find total electric field, field inside conductor is zero so now you apply gauss law, you will get sigma / epsilon without factor of 2 because E inside conductor is zero. What you are telling in point 2 that E for conductor will not have factor of 1/2 is true, but when you are calculating E just due to one plate the plus plate it will be half of total E so factor of 1/2 will come.

Sir electric field for plate is equal to Sigma upon Epsilon 0 hoti hai or electric field for sheet is equal to Sigma upon 2Epsilon 0 lekin sir aapne is mein kaha hai ki plate bol do ya sheet bol do same hi hota hai
