Nice one Josh! I created a soap monster with that scraper-lol! I don't know how you were getting the soap out before, but it's working great for slicing out a big ol hunk. I like the comparisons and you can see that even though the head is large, when you have the angle right, the contact area is quite small. Easy fit under the nose and not bad around the ears. I used to have clogging issues with razors until I really started to hydrate my lather. Now that's not an issue at all. I do think the Stomper is so compliant, that I wouldn't be afraid of giving it to a newbie to use. It does have the slick handle issue, but you could use any modern razor handle on it because of its three piece design. The Parker, I think the handle is swedged on, but I'm not sure if it's threaded on first. Because of Parkers two piece design, that creates some extra issues with adapting a handle for it. I would probably get one of the machined knobs for the bottom and do some file work on the handle section, removing all the coating and having a brass handle. I guess it could be cerakoted too. I don't have any of their razors yet, so I'm just spit-balling ideas. With them listening to complaints though, maybe that's something they will address. Have a great weekend Josh!

Mannnn if we could get a custom Parker handle that would be cool, but I am sure they don't want to add to the assembly challenge (probably why it is the way it is) YOU DID. I love my scraper!!! I am now loading 3x more hahahaha

Great Intro, I like the chunk of the road it is perfect for this shave. The soap sounds very interesting, not sure this one is for me (or the wife). I enjoyed all of the info you presented on the different SE razors. Really good information, thank you. Great video as always.

Always here to do demos and discussions..sometimes just seeing a product side by side can help answer questions. I have often wondered why more companies don't offer loading videos / comparisons - but I guess that's our job here 👍 Thank you so much for watching!

Awesome pictures and intro. Nice quick comparison to other single edge razors. It's cool Parker is listening to its customers and making changes. Have a great weekend buddy

Good to see that you are pleased with the SoloEdge performance. I haven't seen a reviewer who hasn't liked it. In fact, one reviewer said it was better than the Leaf Twig/Thorn. I've just never enjoyed the Twig. That was the main reason I ordered the SoloEdge. I'm supposed to get mine on Monday. It will have the magnet. And I'll have to check to see if it "stands" on edge. That would be a nice surprise.

Hopefully your razor comes today and you absolutely love it!! I have been very pleased with the performance and shave it produces for sure! The Thorn for me still is a fantastic shave I reach for often, and I appreciate they really made this concept more mainstream, but I can appreciate the uniqueness of the Soloedge for sure. Thank you for the comment! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

@@SubieShaves My SoloEdge actually arrived on Saturday. I shaved with it on Sunday. I will need to give it a couple more shaves to adjust to the angle difference from my daily driver, the Rockwell 6S. After I get the technique mastered I may do a side-by-side with my Twig. My gut tells me that the SoloEdge won't replace the 6S. But all the positive reviews made it hard to resist trying. PS: My SoloEdge has the magnet and it does stand on end 😊

Nice comparisons Susie! . Not sure why companies can’t get blade alignment and balance locked in. 100 year old gillettes I have - have no issue. Have a great weekend.

Ya know...it's a question I keep asking as well. The MARS by DCS is a cool looking shaver, and I think with precut blades the issue may actually be less of a problem, but mine has some alignment movement that makes each assembly a challenge. Thank you for joining me!

@@SubieShaves Their "Legend' AC though, is quite good with a lighter hollow SS or Ti handle.

I think everyone's experience is different. For me, the magnet wasn't a big issue, but the blade did sometimes slip out when I tried to put it in place. But behind that, one big thing for me was the finish on the SoloEdge. Maybe it is the pre-shave that I use or something related, but at first I was fine with the finish and it shaved fine. However, I started noticing a bit later that the satin finish was making the shave a bit draggy for me and I don't know why. I'll probably have to use some Proraso pre-shave and see if that helps. I was one of the early adopters and got the first SoloEdge, and it is nice that they put a new magnet in right away, but then there are other things that probably need changing (like you said with the handle), so I think Parker should have done more prototyping and experimenting before coming out with the SoloEdge 2.0, just so there would be a number of changes and not just one significant change. Maybe offer both a satin version AND a chrome-plated version as well as maybe change the handle style to allow for a little better grip. And with Mike's Shield razor (the Stomper) it is a cinch to load that one because of all the bumps that fit between the recesses in the razor blade, so that one doesn't need a magnet at all. I think with those changes, the SoloEdge would really be able to compete with the other consumer single-edge razors on the market.

Well written and excellent thoughts with this razor! Hopefully more people see this, because I think you're spot on. 👍 The finish is a point of concern for me - how long will it hold up and how long will it remain unstained, remains to be tested. I have high hopes for the longevity, but also understand, this is a lower price for a reason. Thank you so much for sharing!

Nice review and full of great information and feedback. I bought one of the early ones and I didn’t like it at all. I found it too heavy and unwieldy in the hand, I didn’t enjoy the shave and it felt rough. I agree that it feels a bit of a kick to see the updates come out so soon after parting with the money, but on the plus side it shows Parker are listening which is awesome for the bigger picture. Enjoy the shave and have a great day 👍

@@SubieShaves you did an awesome Job, your reviews are the most detailed ones, nobody else goes into as much depth about what the shave actually feels like, rather than just what the razor looks like…it helps buyers decide for real, which is what we all need….keep up the good work buddy 👏👍

Do you think it would be possible to make a single-edge adjustable(1/2 DE based)? If so, why isn't anyone making one.
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves 3 месяца назад
Hey Everytime I use a DE it's a SE - so it's possible to make a adjustable one 🤣 I think it just comes down to market progression. Hear me out - it's not been that long since Leaf dropped the Twig which really was unique - a SE that used a DE as a single edge. There were others before it, but it was the one that caught on, and made others really think about the concept. Hopefully more brands will continue to challenge the concept, and a adjustable will get made ❤️👍
@lordfifth4520
@lordfifth4520 3 месяца назад
Adjustable razors work by manipulating the base plate gap when you change the setting. SE razor heads are angled, so its probably challanging to engineer a similar system. Parker Injector Razor is adjustable and its an angled SE razor too, but its a one piece razor. The adjustmant dial is behind the head instead of the handle, if it was on the handle like DE adjustable razors, i cant imagine how it would adjust the base plate. So maybe something similar can be done for an adjustable half DE razor, but Parker Injector cant be disassambled, you put and remove the blade using the injector. For a 1/2 DE based SE razor, you also have to make it so you can put a half DE blade somehow. I believe it can be done but maybe its not worth the effort for the manufacturers?
