I've been a parking officer myself for the last 7 years. I had my job interview a year before this short film was uploaded. The last section of the video was kind've interesting because those "what would you do" questions are sometimes asked, but not quite like this parody, you get asked what would you do... but often the scenario is more complex and it's difficult to tell the right answer. Another thing is the roleplay, where one of our wardens plays a disgruntled person getting a ticket and it's the applicant job to roleplay too and deescalate the situation. Another part is the scope day, where applicants spend half a day walking around with a warden on the street to get the feel for what the job looks like and feels like. These are strategies to make sure people are fit for the job, no point hiring people if they don't like it and later leave. Probably the biggest component is the part asking about your prior work history, they're interested in stuff like previous customer service experience where you've had to problem solve and deescalate situations. The series of agree/disagree questions at 2 minutes into this short film is very much parody and non existent in the real interview, people who answered yes to lots of those questions actually wouldn't get the job because having an ethical character with a high standard of integrity is important so you don't end up with a corrupt parking warden. Teamwork is also required for some tasks even though you spend a lot of time in the job my yourself. Situation 1 at 3:22. "going into the shop for a few minutes" I deal with this on a daily basis, in this short film the interviewer says "illegally parked" so no context is given on the specific offence or the severity of the offence. (Again, it's a parody), but in real life the answer is mostly fine them, write the ticket. Usually the offence (where I live) is parking in a bus lane. People think that they're only going to be a few minutes so they're not causing any harm. In reality they and multiple others are doing the same thing on a daily basis. Then the bus driver drives up the bus lane and keeps having to swerve into the main traffic lane to get past the cars parked in this bus lane. Even being parked a few seconds in the bus lane is too long, let alone a few minutes. Of course the hypothetical scenario lacks detail. But in general, people who "illegally park for a few minutes" tend to have a "don't care about others" mindset and the only way to change their behaviour is issue a ticket. People don't learn when you give them warnings, they learn after having to pay a fine. Sounds harsh, but it's the real world, in reality people don't just do the right thing because you ask them nicely. Lastly, consider that my feedback is only representative of my experiences working for my local authority, and different councils around the world have different parking problems, different levels of fines, and different approaches to dealing with parking problems. There is a lot more variety in this job than the average person realizes. And one big thing we do that people have no idea about is respond directly to specific parking complaints, ie- person rings up and says help, a car is parked over my driveway. So we are obliged to get deal with it, rather than go looking for it. Overall I liked this short film because parts of it are totally true and parts are just silly and have no place in the interview process. If you wanted to do some sort of follow up to this short film, I would suggest "The things parking officers say amongst themselves". If you did that, you'd probably get it half right, without knowing anything about what we really say to eachother.

Can I ask you a question please and I appreciate you are enforcement. Is law to give identification to officer??the reason I ask is because in manchester -i drop receipt leaving store. I did not realise as I am not a litter lout and I was 20 feet from store. The officer ask for my identification and I tried to explain but he said it was intentional litter and an offence. I did give my details and given fine £150 !!

@@RB1987 I assume you're talking about the UK. I don't live there so can't say for sure. But here in New Zealand, parking officers are entitled under the law to ask for ID/identifying details such as name, address, phone number. Usually this is used when investgating vehicles stored on the Rd when certain classes like motorhomes may not be parked longer than 7 days (local bylaw). So it's not used all the time but we can ask for details.

@@Y2J Thank you for reply and the information, is appreciated. Yes I was referring to UK where we have civil enforcement officers. I have never encountered this before until recent.
