Parks & Plazas, making our city walkable! Cities: Skylines (Part 30) 

On Festival Island, we could place the ice cream or food truck plazas inside of an abandoned warehouse prop from the workshop

Compatibility report mod is a life saver. It'll give you a report stating which of your mods are broken, which are out of date and what they are exceeded by, if multiple of your mods are doing the same thing, and if you are missing dependant mods. Definitely get it if you haven't already.

The high school that's a little bit over the pedestrian road looks AMAZING.

I LOVE the updated area with the library, zoo, and Bird & Bee Haven. I definitely agree that those parks need to be replaced with something; perhaps one of the new things that will be unlocked soon?

one of your mods is breaking the intersections of pedestrian roads they are not always blank pavement they have nice plaza paterns

38:28 I think the library should face the beach since that street is the main promenade and the library has car parking at the front. And pedestrians coming from the pedestrian area could always just use the back entrance. :)

Just wanted to thank you for this content, James. I've been in the hospital getting treatments for a little over a month and this series has really helped with passing the time and bringing me joy.

hey james, I've got a couple of mod suggestions: - ron: the network replacer mod - yet another toolbar: resizing, scaling, transparent-izing, etc. - better education toolbar: separates primary and high school and library etc into their own tabs. - better road toolbar: 1u, 2u, 2u 2+lanes, industrial, bus roads etc in separate tabs. - better health toolbar: medical, death, etc in separate tabs. - rotterdam: removes the weird shadow glitch that roads get when they're too cliff-y on one side. I remember it happening a few times in this city. ps: you could change the "nubbin" to a road with no median, then it could at least be a *neat* nubbin. pps: yes to minibuses, please.

I would love to see the 'main' city park redone! Like a more natural look with gravel paths to contrast the new plazas!

When you get the new dlc content before the airport dlc this play through was made for 😂😂 - love this series so much!

I think just adding some tree buffers around the park and some nice bushy groves will make it look a lot better

Watching the changes to the downtown im wondering wether it wouldnt be better to start those built up blocks from scratch to accomodate the pedestrian pathing 👀

I really really love where this city is heading :) You really should finish up detailing the downtown, there are lots of unfinished spots. And really fill up the downtown with lots of trees, downtowns can get to gray really quickly, make it green and lush, then its going to be awesome :) :)

Now that you have your Party Island pedestrianized.. how would you feel about placing some leisure or shops on there as well? I have also seen the video you mentioned from CityPlannerPlays and the teleportation of goods is such a cool new thing in the game. As for the open middle part, maybe some good plaza's will be released when you have had enough tourists come by. I don't know how they look yet, but I hope it is something that will fit nicely at that spot☺

For the festival island you can select empty on the warehouse as well as a resource you don’t produce and it should get rid of the flashing notifications

I think some mid-rise residential buildings would be great in Hickory square where those parks are. Would be a fab place to live - on the beach with fantastic views, walkability and public transport. Really admire your creativity to solve the pedestrians crossing that intersection! Never would have thought to do that.

You should make a metro but maybe have parts of it be elevated because of the new stations

I'm wondering if they made those new two lanes similar size of the larger roads so they'd be easier to upgrade later, without destroying zoning, and especially without having to move plopped buildings (like FD/PD/clinic/etc). But I haven't checked if it helps with that issue

that new dlc reminds me of gas town in vancouver british columbia canada. it looks like a great new pack for the game

Maybe reconsider that large fountain plaza now that you have a pedestrian road going down the middle from the zoo you could try the flower plaza that has to go across a pedestrian road?

The zoo that you changed all the roads to bus lanes now can’t have any cars parked out front. Rotate it to a road maybe??

I like how this series started as an airport dlc game, and we're to the next big dlc and there still is no airport. haha

YES! Please build a Metro! it would totally suit Areas like the University which only has the one bus connection to the station, which is pretty unrealistic for a university like that since more people would likely be taking public transport. Also, that area of Coleridge/Myrtle is looking like a transit-oriented development that could use more transit other than the one train station. Could also serve the suburbs towards where the airport might be. Also, since this city has a SF themed district, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Trains could look nice, think they have some as metro trains on the workshop!

I am always a fan of metro systems in this game.

I believe Parkify still enables park items to be placed outside of a park. Very much looking forward to workshop stuff that uses the Pedestrian service point stuff. Honestly they should've known that a 1U road would've been super useful and realistic. Also, why not just change the Mini Bus capacity? Might be unrealistic in capacity but will look nicer going down the hill. And I love that you hadn't done metro. So nice to see all the trams and cablecars and busses all over!! Looking forward to the sprawling suburbs :)

I just finished watching your Planet Coaster Hardmode series. A bit sad it ended 😢 I hope you can revisit that save file and finish it ❤️ because of you I got addicted to the game. And learned how to use the all the tools. Before I used to just plop all the rides without adding scenery, that why I always fail 😂 Same with Cities Skyline, I use to zone everything. Then ended up with negative profit 😂 I just love your gameplay so much. Thanks for a super awesome gameplay as always ❤ Edit: BTW, because of you again….I want to play Cities Skyline….again 😂

This might be my favorite c:s expansion yet. What I really love about the c:s developers is that they left the game open in a way that makes it easy to mod and add addons, while add the same time using that to see what players * want * in the game and eventually delevering that in-game as well.

You could fill up the empty spots you have in your downton with buildings/places that attract tourism, that way it would generate a lot more people to come there and make it seem more lively, + boost the amount of people going through the pedestrian areas

i heard the new 81 tiles mod 2 performs better than the original one. it has less lag etc...

On the festival island, you could have the section with the gazebo's as a seperate little zone as "park", next to the pedestrian area.

Hi James, the back to back housing/comercial/industry works only for pedestrian zoning. If you add it on regular zoning nothing will be built!

A mod really useful to replace roads easily and quickly is the RON (Replace Our Networks) mod. It's almost the same as BOB, but works with networks. Just be wary when replacing roads, so that you don't accidentally replace all roads, but if you read the mod description, you'll easily understand what to do. Keep up the awesome content :)

Its definitely entertaining to see James being taunted by his love of 'organic' shaped roads whilst trying to place down all these square shaped plazas

I'd turn that tram pedestrian street intersection into a giant crossroad. Much nicer looking and pedestrian friendly than a crossing.

Uh, I'm not seeing it in any earlier comments but your Party Island doesn't have sewage treatment now that you've turned it off. We could see alerts popping up as you moved on. You should either turn the treatment plant back on or connect the island to the city grid.

I think instead of trying to do the wall to wall through the downtown, you should make a specific ped friendly area of the city… the ped streets could stay as a “transit option” but I think the DLC was meant to make a whole section of the city car free

When you unlock those special pedestrian places put them in the place you don’t like

You know we've got those two parks next to the library and you've got those pedestrian unlockables I would say wait for those unlockables and put them in there they probably fit quite nicely

while working on the downtown maybe revist the skyline too ? I still don't the think black building fits the vibe of the city. bowser bay needs a more modern skyline imo
