Part 1 Pattern: My Easy Newborn Crochet Cardigan Square shoulders. First row sequence 5-5-10-5-5
Use 5mm hook and double knit baby yarn.
Cast on with a slip knot, chain 35.
Row 1: Half double crochet in the third stitch from the hook.
Half double crochet in the next three chains.
2hdc, ch 1, 2hdc in the next chain (first corner made)
hdc in the next 5 chains
2hdc, ch1, 2hdc in the next chain (2nd corner made)
hdc in the next 10 chains
2hdc, ch1, 2hdc in the next chain (3rd corner made)
hdc in the next 5 chains
2hdc, ch1, 2hdc in the next chain (4th corner made)
hdc in the next 5 chains.
Row 2 to Row 7 are as follows:
chain 2, turn half double crochet in each stitch,
skip 1 stitch before the corners,
then make the corner (2hdc, ch1, 2hdc in the chain 1 space)
On the 8th row, when you get to the first corner work 2 hdc in that corner, then skip all the stitches up to the 2nd corner, work 2hdc in that corner. Hdc across the long straight edge, then work 2hdc in the 3rd corner, skip all the stitches up to the 4th corner, work 2hdc in that corner and hdc to the end.
Now chain 2, turn and hdc across to the end, repeat until you have completed 7 more rows.
Then move to part 2 crochet along Newborn cardigan square shoulders, this has important information to be able to continue on to make button holes all in one go :)
