I have installed the Samdo Speedometer in to a 2003 Honda Rebel 250.
The video takes it step by step to installing the unit. Tools, photos and videos. Now a Rebel owner can have a Tachometer in a stylish gauge.

I figured out what i need to do for the "fuel guage". It will be mileage based instead of fuel level.

Can you help me? When I start up the menu settings of my speedometer, it says directly C2871. I can't enter a code or anything else. I have the version where you can add the speedo cable on the back of the sensor.

I am not familiar with that version. Make sure all the wiring is hooked up.

ok so, what about tacho - it is connected to module or to coil?

@@Mytwistedvoices thank you, you are still alive and responding :) i have this same speedometer and when i connect to coil (- minus, where signal from breaker comes) tacho working "woobly" it shows something but not accurate, sometimes tacho needle just jiggle from left to right, showing totaly mess without representation of actual revs. I tried to connect thru capacitor/resistor but nothing works. I worried about foulty speedometer then i connected to arduino like you did, and i working fine... just reading from coil is mess. Honda CB250G5 from 1978 without any ECU, just breakers and coils...

@@simon_mann If you have a single coil make sure the setting has the proper cylinder count. If you have one cylinder and the setting it two, the tach will read low. Plus I put it in the positive side. Because the current will choose the path of least resistance. The ground is less than the speedometer. But the speedometer is less than the coil…. In theory

Hi guys, did any Of you know how the beam indicator works? I would like to have another button for led circle on my lamp and have an separate indicator when it’s on or off. Actual beam indicator is in the gauge but I couldn’t figure it out how to connect to make it work. I appreciate any help.

how do you which speed sensor value to use? the default in mine shows 3.4

There is a math equastion in the instructions. It got me close but too high. I got a GPS phone app and compared the two. I had to "fine tune it". Start low, like at 2.0 and move up. Easier to see when the speed is too high then too low. Default is not going to work for you unless you have a large tire.

Fire hazard! The red wire (+ directly from the battery) must be protected. Without protection (tube+fuse in line) major risk of fire. Honda's electric standard is green table wire (-).

the wire is more than rated for the amperage load. it only samples the voltage, it doesn't even light the LED. feel free to put a fuse in. Yes, Honda uses green in most wire harness applications. The negative battery to frame is black, funny enough. Green is system negative, black is negative to battery. .

@@Mytwistedvoices Consumption does not matter now. The problem is mechanical in nature, if that wire has a friction point , in time a short circuit appears and all the current in the battery will flow through that wire. Then the wire will catch fire. The thicker wires are used in automotive mainly for mechanical resistance .
