Part 33 'Final shaping of the rear wheel arch' (using a home-made tool)

Getting the shape and profile of the rear wheel arch has caused some delays.
At first glance the rear wheel arch on the three door Rover R8 200 looks like a simple shape but it has a very small convex radius between the flare and the front, vertical face of the arch - which is only 11mm. It's so subtle that when it's not there it really stands out. I've seen a few 'restored' R8 three door Rovers and it is very apparent when it's not done right - hence why I am taking time achieving the correct final shape. Since the arch face and return lip was fabricated from scratch using hand tools, there will be some filler needed and since the car is a gloss black, it is a very unforgiving colour for showing bodywork repairs.

Neat hack with the home made sanding block. 👍

Thanks, it's the classic 'necessity is the mother of invention' as previous attempts using long-board sanders caused vertical face to angle inwards. Definitely investing in a bead roller and shrinker stretcher when I finally start on the nearside arch.
