+Alan Hinton Awesome, thanks Alan! You might also like my newest reverb creation the Meris Mercury 7 bit.ly/1Rj1hwi Completely different animal from the Particle Verb, but offers lots of new tricks of its own.
WOW! Is this legit? Did you really create Particle Verb for line 6? If so, THANK YOU! Particle Verb is an incredible sound tool that I use to some degree in every song I produce or perform. I use it all over the place in the studio. I use it to create loops live, transition songs, pad, bed, ambient. Particle Verb is the single reason I own M9's and M5's. I wish there was a crybaby style rocker expression pedal that only had Particle Verb built in to it. It would be a top seller!
Totally legit! :) And I'm glad you love the Particle Verb. I like putting a bright distorted signal into it and cranking the mix to max. The Particle Verb was inspired by some crazy ambient washes that Allan Holdsworth was getting when I saw him play at the Baked Potato years and years ago. Can't believe he's gone, such a genius and iconoclast.
The Line 6 sounds a little smoother, where the Zoom has a tighter crisper sound...to me the Zoom wins my ear test, but honestly I would be happy with either of the two....but I did get the Zoom...for so many other great presets and effects, it also sounds great with my TC T2 and my TC Flashback and other stomp and multi-effect pedals.A pedal well worth its cost.but I don't like to knock other products because I believe....to each his own. It's about enjoying what we do...creating (our own) sounds. If I enjoy what I like, and you enjoy what you like...then hey.......we're musicians right?
I own the zoom it’s a great pedal and can do things the M5 can’t. However the same can be said for the M5 I will probably end up with both sooner rather than later..
Without headphones but instead through my hifi/amp speakers (a TDK soundcube) and of course RU-vid, my Gen-X ears don't hear much difference - The M5 may well have the edge sonically but the Zoom sounds mighty fine considering it fits in a coat pocket and runs on 2x AA batts. I have the MS-50g which I treat as my sonic sketchpad; it's so handy and versatile at home - If I were gigging I'd consider getting an M9 for it's footswitches. The M9's are dependable and I'm told it's not unusual to still see them used by session pro's to this day.
The Zoom sounds bright while the M5 sounds great for me i pick the zoom specially on a gig its not heavy and space wice to the pedalboard i wish the line 6 can vteate ligjter and compact like the zoom
Everyone here is crowing about the Zoom. I prefer the Line 6. Not because of this video but because I have it and I tried the Zoom before. Line 6 sounds better in my ears on my rig and straight to the board too.
Charles Carter I found that the zoom came close on a few sounds but that it was ultimately more satisfying to me to play through the m5. I sold the zoom and kept the m5 for along time after making this video. I also found that the zoom sucked tone and dynamics.
I have both a MS70 and a Line6 M9 (M5's middle brother). I mostly use the M9 for studio sessions and recording, it's a old unit but it still offers some wonderful sounding effects! But when I have to go live I take the MS70, feature/price wise in unbeatable: it's like having a full pedalboard squished into a small pedal! with years and experience I've found that when you play in a live setup who the heck cares if you use highend/boutique stuff or cheap digital pedals? Nobody would tell the difference! I also think that if know your pedals and the effects in general, you can create beautiful sounds with any kind of devices.
