Vietnam is a must stop for any foodie traveler!! The variety in Vietnam is comparable to any major city in the world. Only difference is the price. Vietnam is easily the most affordable country to visit.
I really love using the Water Spinach as a topping on general spicy rice dishes. I just roughly chop then stir fry with loads of garlic for like 30 seconds or so, as much as you would normal spinach, then whack on top and it adds a fantastic juicy flavourful extra dimension
Watching you makes me look forward to trying foods next time I’m back in Vietnam. My mom has been to some of the places you’ve been and loved them too!
Dang @ 6:00 all that Vietnamese goat preparation looked amazing. Esp. the stove brought to the table! All the fresh veggies & herbs and the special sauces. Absolutely amazing!
When he said water buffalo I instantly thought of bison(or buffalo) I am native so I grew up eating it and yup it’s is so nummy. Also wonder if he has had elk or deer before. Both of those are really good too.
i watched this channel at night once.... I woke up and 150$ was missing.... also i found bbq sauce everywhere... and bones and noodles all over... i was worried but strangely satisfied.... bless you dumpling man
Thank you so much, the best thing in this video, you gave us the address and the name of the restaurant that we can follow your footstep if we are interested in that food. Keep up the good job Mike !
Hey Mike, you're my idol you know, I love watching your videos more than any big hit music mvs!!! Thanks so much for all your efforts to make these crazily great food videos!!!
Non-gamy goat = female goat or castrated billy. It's possible that the restaurant buys only nanny goats. Like pigs, male goats raised for slaughter should be snipped at a young age. The hormones make the meat gamey. Thanks for the video!
Love watching when I'm hungry. Hate watching just after eating haha. Would love to see some outtakes of you hating the food. Instead of the oh mmmmmmm that's nice. Keep up the good videos/vlogs?
Hi Mark I enjoy your videos and recipes as I love to cook ; I am originally from The Caribbean but live in Prague. Already thought of visiting The Caribbean? The Caribbean cuisine is rich tasty spicy and colorful... Keep it up with the videos!
Totally missed the passion fruit hot pot at the Saigon Grill. Yet I must have visited Charlie at the Cuba la Casa del Mojito on the ground floor of the same building a dozen times. The Saigon Grill is a bit of a hidden gem with the touristy Nha Hang Ngon just across DUONG Pasteur.
anorc no canh chua is completely different than passion fruit. Passion fruit is a speciality at that restaurant. Flavor profile wise it’s a bit similar but canh chua is much more sour.
My grandmother use to soak her gamey meat in white vinegar for at least 3-4 days. You have to change to vinegar when it starts to look cloudy. You repeat this step until the vinegar isnt cloudy anymore. Themeat never tasted gamey at all. I love granmothers
I love that you have such personal passion for things like hotpot but don't overcrowd your channel with it such that you diversify your channel and explore your passions at the same time
Glad you enjoyed it! You just scratched the surface of Vietnamese hotpot. You should try lau ca keo (gobi fish), lau thai (kid of like tom yum) and definitely lau bo with it basically pho hot pot. Pho noodle and pho broth with beef!.
Your food advisor is a nice guy he reminds me my nephew, and the food was amazing as well as that breathtaking romatic view from the roof top of the 2nd location . I hope visiting an asian country or india one day.
Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! This is my routine now: wake up, cook breakfast, eat breakfast while watching your new videos. My breakfast is so lame compared to your meals though :-)) I love trying weird/not so common meats, so I'm glad I saw you try wild boar and buffalo! The first time I had buffalo meat was back home in Romania like 15 years ago if not more, in the countryside, my friend's grandparents were raising buffalos and they gave me to try milk (so fatty and delicious!) and meat (I was weirded out by how hard it was, but the flavor was still soo good!). And wild boar, try when you come back in NYC a good Italian restaurant a wild boar ragu pasta, if it's spicy it's even better! Also, I actually enjoyed the view at that rooftop hotpot place, you could see the skyline of the city, and was that hot pot vegetarian/ only gave you prawns? I guess meat doesn't go well with passion fruit?!?
I'm a diehard fan of pho. But you totally changed my idea about Vietnamese food. Gotta visit Vietnam one day to try the hot pot, barbecue, and the seafood buffet. Newly found food paradise for Asians.
I like when you said the water buffalo was sorta at home in the soup 🍲 you make food videos worth watching. QUESTION? Where else would you travel to show more amazing, well mouth-watering ethnic food? :)
