That's catholic, or some other church that functions like catholics. In most churches, if you committed adultery but repented, you can still be a pastor. As long as it doesn't effect the church in a negative way. However churches like the Catholic Church, have all these rules and regulations that are more about business than worship. A recent priest has been saying lines wrong when baptising. So all these people think they aren't saved anymore because of a simple mistake. Dumb A lot of people think of Catholics when they hear christain. But really most christain churches in the US don't like Catholics. Not the people, just their beliefs. They have idols that step between them and God. A lot of abuse happens in the catholic church too. Bad rep for christains
@@lalotime The Catholic Church, being the oldest institution in the world, with over a billion members across the globe, necessarily has an extensive Code of Canon Law that, ideally, guarantees a degree of oversight and provides channels for conducting business and addressing abuses. However, the form of the Sacrament of Baptism is not a matter of canon law; it is a matter of sacramental theology. So you are wrong to connect the baptismal formula with "rules and regulations that are more about business than worship." On the contrary, the sacrament itself depends in part upon the proper words being said, which principle may be seen in embryo in the New Testament; the baptismal font is not the place for personal ingenuity. The priest in question did not make a "simple mistake"; regardless of his intentions he was either extremely careless or willfully disrespectful of the Church's instructions. Finally, to say that the invalidly baptized are not "save[d]" is to misunderstand the Catholic doctrines concerning salvation, which see a more or less gradual human progress toward beatitude, in cooperation with the divine grace normatively received at Baptism. In other words, if you're going to call something "dumb," I suggest understanding it first.

I'm glad the woman confronted him. A shame the church didn't have more discernment. The Bible does equip us to handle these evil things.
The fact that he has the ego to stand in front of the crowd, say “Ya I molested a minor, but now you’re going to forgive me because I’m undergoing the biblical recovery process” is somehow so suprising and yet almost expected

I once had a pastor who told me that he once had a woman come to him and basically admit that her husband was viciously abusing her, and she wanted to seek religious guidance since she believed that men were to be the head of the household. The pastor immediately called the cops and the husband was arrested. I wish there were more pastors who could separate from religion just for a second to do the right thing. So many of these people use it as a way to abuse their position of power. edit: As many people have said, it was a poor choice of words to say "separate from religion." This specifically referenced how people use religion as a shield to do whatever they want.
I am so glad that situation went well. It is unfortunate how we can be so into our faith that we forget that there are legal systems in place for situations like this.
It’s not seperate religion from doing the right thing, it’s separating greed and power to do the right thing. God tells you to turn the other cheek to be patient and loving, to not act back in a hateful, not to flagellate and hurt you. If someone is continually abusing you, you have to leave. Some people don't have the ability to deal with those near death situations, but have no fear of presenting information in front of crowds. It's all too complex and interwoven. As a Christian myself, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that not only does this pastor admit to committing a horrible crime and he doesn’t seem guilty about it at all, but the fact that the people in pews applaud him and give him hugs. If the priest at MY church did that, it would completely change the way I view him for the worst.
Totally agree. I was expecting a tearful apology at the very least, but it definitely came off as him doing his best to downplay it. Based the first part of his story I do understand the congregation forgiving him. From their perspective he made a big mistake one time 20 years ago. Biblically there is a separation between forgiving a sin and lack of consequences. He can be forgiven by God/Man, yet still deserve prison. In the same way, his congregation can forgive him, while still not wanting anything to do with him ever again.
Man deserves a restraining order, imprisonment, firing, put on a register for predatory and sex offense conducts, fired again and exiled from the church, as frankly if he is capable of committing harm on people on its premises, he should not be allow near said premises This is only the professional response to such a crime and confession, victims, survivors and witnesses will probably do other unprofessional shit, but the professional and legal response is the bare minimum The monster doesn't deserve rest, enough said
at my brothers church recently the pastor either got caught or came out to the church that he had an affair in the past year or so and he was called to step down and leave the church not applauded and told how good he was for coming clean.
@@saulstein9560 my previous pastor was confronted for having 17+ affairs. He was then brought up in front of the church had to admit to what he did an was then also asked to step down from the position.
I am a Christian and I would gladly drop what I am doing and help this kind of person meet God... whether they're ready or not. The fact that no one felt the need to break this guy's knees is troubling. I don't ever want to look at someone like this and be able to instantly forgive them because they read the bible to me once a week.
7:35 You are so right... It is like the mentality of a frightening number of adults/teachers/authority figures/etc... You can verbally bully someone to the point of suicide and it is easily brushed off but the second you even so much as physically push someone (Usually the victim pushing the bully) all hell breaks loose... People can be so messed up and whether they realise it or not they end up being the very fuel that the bullies/etc need...
As a real Christian, just because God forgives you of a sin (no matter how bad), that doesn’t mean you get to escape the consequences of your actions. This man should be in prison.
As a Catholic, this makes me enraged. We do not boast our sins, especially in this manner. When we seek forgiveness, we are told to do what is right. If this man actually felt sorry for what he did, he would admit to his crime and turn himself over to the police. A simple "sorry" is not enough; one must repent and reap what he sews.
I've personally seen the negative effect that community can have in these churches when serious allegations come to light. The sad thing is, even when there's a conviction, oftentimes the victims are the ones outed from the communities, and the offender is welcomed back into the community when they're set free.
The "yes WE did it" after being asked if HE did it makes this even more disgusting. Trying to put part of the blame on her like this. 🤢 I don't know if it's the same in America as it is in Germany, but if it is, he won't even have to face consequences, as the church has their own laws and they will likely not sentence him for his crimes. Its truly sickening 🤢
It's different here in the U.S., thank God. Church figures are held under the same law as the rest of us. That being said though, the Catholic church is notorious for hiding evidence in cases of SA.
He definitely won't be punished, by the law at least. There's a thing called statute of limitations in most places, meaning you can't be arrested for a crime after a certain amount of time has passed. Sad, but true.
The church here in America does not have its own laws, buuuuuut the people enforcing the laws here are very corrupt. So if he did go to prison, he's probably out already.
@@magnus6609 not legal justice but justice can be brought all the same spreading his misdeeds and making sure it can never happen again is the first step and may god strike him down with a vengeance unseen before
the person who shouted "you didnt say she was 14" did that intentionally so the pastor could admit that the person he molested was 16 (by correcting that person in front of the crowd)
My husband grew up in that church and was best friends with the victims brother and her. So after my husband and I got married we were trying to find a church and he took me there and I told him that something wasn’t right there. I was not comfortable around the pastor so we went to my church. So glad I followed my instincts.
As a survivor, hearing you say, "I dont think there's any power in forgiving someone like that man. That guy is a monster" brought tears to my eyes. So many survivors are told to forgive and forget, especially if it is a family member or someone held in high esteem by the community who did the abusing. I will carry your words with me. Thank you
She would have to file charges or testify in court at the very least and most victims like to distance themselves as far away from the incident as possible
@@noahgillihan7251 it seems she's brave enough to tell an entire congregation about it, and confront him. She doesn't seem like the one to not press charges or do something. Also, if you openly admit in public, and on video, to a serious crime can nothing really be done? The guy admits to child rape but it just doesn't matter because she didn't press charges? That's fucked up. People would just target those they know wouldn't press charges and take advantage of them.
@@Metallic484 if you do not testify in court you cannot really press charges. For example, a cop can have a video recording of you speeding, but if he doesn't go to court that day, you will not get charged with speeding.
“God will forgive him” -well, I’m not God. I’m glad she was able to stand up and say that, that took guts. At least everyone can know what kind of person he is
I love how people speak for God. Typical Christians absolving themselves of crimes and sins and speaking on Gods behalf. God definitly isn't the forgiving type if you ever read the bible but ya know, they never do and only take snippets of verses to use.
@@novaangle2183 I'll never forget reading about God/Yahweh/Jehovah/whatever striking a man down, for not impregnating his brother's widow. Out of all of the kills that I know of, that one just sticks to my memory the most.
@@novaangle2183 ofc. They're all clones walking to the of there rope being controlled and manipulated by this idea of Santa Claus in the sky. Truth is all these religious zealots are gonna die off and the rise of the newer gens will focus on spirituality NOT corrupt RELIGION there is a difference.
@@captainpep3 was god forgiving when that door was propped open in Uvalde? Was your god forgiving and loving and spreading his plan when those 10 year olds Lost everything? That's the reality of your governments "plan" you religious people are so tied with the very thing you are enemies with. It's soooo ironic. Like if only you knew the lost wisdom of this place. We are the only gods
Pastor: I am simply a humble sinner Woman: actually she's so brave revealing so many details about a horrific crime to a congregation that just cheered for the guy
This should honestly be shown to people who may have experienced something but haven't come forward about it, seeing the narrative change so quickly when her side came out is somewhat encouraging.
I was a minor abused in the church. This makes me fucking sick. It makes me so happy this girl got her time to speak. So many of us never have. The fact that the even just a few in the crowd didn’t turn on her like the congregation at my church did gives me so much hope for humanity and embracing and praying for this man was completely unacceptable, deranged and disgusting especially in front of his victim. Thank you for showing this. It shows the reality of many many abuse survivors of the church.
I don’t think we are really anything in the grand scheme to say who is forgiven or who isn’t. I’d rather worry about my own actions than try to hold someone else accountable for anything.
I can only imagine how that girl feels watching them hug that monster. I’m absolutely disgusted. You’d think they would have him arrested. I pray she gets the justice she deserves and heals.
Fascinating to see the Will Smith slap event type of behavior from the crowd in that church. Not a surprise tho, just very interesting to see it captured in the video like this.
I don't know where this happened, but I wish 16 was considered a sexual minor everywhere. I was assaulted at 16, the jury was convinced I wanted it, the 30 year old man only did time in jail because he provided a gun and tried to hire someone to kill me. He was in jail for two years. I hope she gets some sort of justice, for herself and for the rest of us.
Oh my god I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope you recover from this 🙏 By the way I totally agree, remembering myself at 16 years old I was a completely batshit insane person and I can't imagine someone this age could give clear consent
