My in-laws have a thing at christmas where presents have a set budget limit of $30 for each person but you buy candy/chocolate on top of that for the person. Those are actually super easy to do at home! All you gotta do is get puff pastry dough, roll it out to fit a sheet pan, cut in poptart sized rectangles, fill each one with filling (pureed fruit+sugar+starch, cook gently, strain), roll another sheet same size, cut more rectangles, and then top the first ones! Do the side decorations with a fork.

Maybe it really is more about learning about the process. Because it will help you figuring out something similiar in the future.

I think it's also about breaking the illusion that people are born brilliant at things, like she didn't wake up that day, knowing exactly how to do this, she struggled and worked for over a week to get it right. I certainly fail at basically everything the first time, so it's comforting to see even an expert/professional has to work at something sometimes

Of course, i just took that for granted, just shows that i miss stuff too. As i also know that what you are describing is a common problem made more into common problem by social media. As everyone just posts amazing/good stuff. So if you don't take care you mare led into the trap of believing something along the lines: "Those people never have it hard, my life is so miserable!" I isolated myself from that part of the internet so i sometimes forget about. That's filter bubble. As an introvert i don't think it especially appealing posting about my own achievements as they are "boring past stuff" just like other peoples achievements. How to get there, now that's a completely different matter. That's stuff that impacts the future, or more specific: things i can do. That's why i am lurking in random comments sections like this one.

Exactly! That's why I love the movie Iron Man so much. Even though Tony was indeed kind of born a genius, he still makes mistakes and takes his time to come up with ideas, figure stuff out, sometimes start from scratch. The whole "inventing the Mark 2 suit" sequence is such a pleasure to watch for this exact reason. This video is excellent.
