I know it's because they don't give a shit and can get away with it, but it's funny to imagine that they're just banking on people not knowing French, or that they lobotomized themselves.
I’m an OW player and have been since 2016 and this is ridiculous. When they said they were making the defence matrix stronger I thought it was like toxic players not like sweating. Like swear words aren’t bad. Cree or Cas literally has a belt that says “bad ass mother fucker”

As someone who just came back to the game after last having played actively in 2017 its crazy how hard blizzard has become against people who talk shit in chat. In 2017 you were lucky if you didnt get someone mega tiltet in your team calling you the n word lol
“Club Penguin was more lenient with swearing” Can confirm, near the end of the virtual world’s lifespan, first time offenders would get a warning before being banned. And even before they started warning people, first time offenders got a mere 24 hour ban. You essentially had to demonstrate a lack of respect for the rules to get permabanned.
The irony of Blizzard banning you for swearing when they’ve done so much worse. If they’re doing a speed run on ruining their rep, they’re on record pace.
Happened to me. I didn't even swear. I barely even chat. I say 1 word phrases like "Suck" and "payload." You cannot even appeal it. All they do is copy/paste the same thing which is a blanket statement of "you broke the terms of use and were silenced." So now no one can chat. Ever.
@@shelby5809 For some people, the sense of power they get from being a reddit moderator, or a position like the above video, is often slightly sexual. They get off on the power that much. Of course we can't really claim this for sure, since we don't know what they truly think.

I’ve seen people say that in order to prevent themselves from getting banned, they are disabling auto-joining text and voice chat so they aren’t tempted to swear in a competitive game… after I’ve been banned and silenced multiple times, I think I may have to resort to this.

Blizzard so cringe. When I got suspended a month for clapping back at a group of 3 people being toxic with and my buddy they did fuck all. So I chargeback over 200$ of transaction with paypal and yet again they did fuckall. They rather suspend people over swearing then ban someone for charging back money LMAO
Yep, and this fucking babying is soooo fucking annoying! Can't say actual, y'know, *_words!_* Can't say, - died, die, rape, raped, suicide, kill, killed, blood, etc. It's so fucking backwards.
many discords do this too. Have a chatbot that filters out or straight up removes your message if it contains fuck or whatever, but then they also time you out for X hours. It's bafflingly redundant.
Do you not understand how litmus tests work? Furthermore, abusive or anti-social people tend to be impulsive... Let me put it this way, if your argument is valid, then it's also valid to point out that "why swear at someone, or swear at all, in the first place? It's just going to be censored." Really though that's not a good argument, it just shows why such logical arguments aren't reasonable in of themselves when by themselves - but that argument connects to the first part, because a profanity filter that suppresses bannable words, but doesn't remove the player immediately, is actually a great litmus test. It removes the exact people you should want to remove What about the fact that censored content in general is usually still part of an abusive message - Like a message that can be understood as abusive by the person receiving it when connecting the non-obliterated and the partially redacted text together I swear YT dramabaiters just love looking for things to be angry at. Typical twitter behaviour
Warframe is even WORSE! You could lose your entire 3k+ hour account out of nowhere for the silliest shit. And they LITERALLY have a “0 tolerance” policy.
I'd bet that the person(s) behind these changes wouldn't last a minute in a golden-era, 2009 MW2 Call of Duty lobby. They'd hear one minor insult, scream 'you can't say that!', immediately become public enemy #1 of the whole server, and the subsequent teardown would be beautiful to behold.

I find it ironic that people think we should be tipping multi million or even multi billion companies when if anything, that should be directed to indie developers if at all should the concept be followed through. Meanwhile Developers for games like Star Sector ask if you meant to buy 2 copies of their game because it wasn't something that had ever happened to them before, companies like Blizzard would instead ask if you'd like to buy a third if they even acknowledged you to begin with.
To be fair, the majority of the blame should go on the CEO, they are the one who executes such orders, it's in their name. The actual workers are simply doing their job so they can pay to live.
My friend got a season ban for literally nothing. We have supposed it's for leaves but the leaves where when we didn't actually enter the comp game it queued us into and then wouldn't let us rejoin so we all also got 1 hour bans
I've gotten jumped by a whole unranked lobby cause I zoned out and lost the round. I was told I was worthless and needed to die but none of them got banned. Blizzard is delusional.
Well they didn’t say shit or call you f’n worthless so I guess that’s okay? 🤷♂️ I don’t know. I find the speech police toxic. I seriously doubt anyone will see this comment.
Good they shouldnt be. Free speech mf. If you cant handle it, block/mute em and be done. Toxicity will and should always exist in gaming. Of course there is a point when it goes too far, which is why Muting and Blocking exist.
That's the whole problem with censoring swearing in video games. You can say stuff like "end your life you worthless ape" and it will be completely fine since there isn't a swear word in that sentence.
As a kindergarten teacher who has heard students cuss, we do try to be lenient. We let the students know not to use those words in the classroom, but we don't banish them to homeschooling for it.

It happend to me with apex, got in a game and couldn't hear due to a guy screaming in vc and just typed shut up dog, and EA perma banned my whole ea account, not chat restrict me on apex or ban me just in apex, the whole account banned, tried appealing three times (which is the most they accept in this case) and got an automated message with the chat logs every time and then getting every appeal instantly rejected cause I've discussed it enough apparently. The funny thing is I was asking for a less harsh decision since it wasn't hard cursing and it was my first restriction since origin was discontinued, not a single human interaction, I hate EA.
@@maccolemio2493 they said PR not HR, but anyway if PR is a woman dominated field I think they might pay more attention to the sexual harassment in the workplace
Easily. I really think Blizzard is in a league of their own with how they seem to try as hard as possible to do the most anti-consumer, corrupt, and ironic decisions. So much so, it borders on parody.
This actually might be Blizzard trying to stay ahead of the curve. The "Kids Online Safety Act" is making it's rounds through the Senate and stuff like this might become the norm for most online games if it goes through.
This and any chat filter doesn't even address toxicity, people can just be creative and instead of getting banned themselves they can be toxic to other players to bait them into getting banned. In OSRS they implemented a dogshit chat filter that's more annoying than anything, a week later I read about a PKing clan Doxing a player and making fun of their deceased mother in game. No filter is going to stop that.

I got banned for 30 days for saying "group up" and just never played again due the to automated responses from the appeal ticket system. Garbage company.
it takes 3 reports typically to get an automated ban, you probably played with a 2/3 man and they all got salty and reported you or gaslighted the enemy team to do so
Former Blizzard head: "There should be an in-game option to give a tip for a great game." Activision, EA, Take-Two, and all the other greedy publishers: "WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!"
To quote someone that quoted someone else about blizzard "I have never seen a company that shoots itself in the foot so many times that they needed to reload the fucking gun".
I saw somebody else talk about getting banned in Overwatch. He said he got banned for swearing in a private message and the response to the appeal was "It doesn't matter because I (the GM) still have to read it". WTF why are you reading private messages in the first place?

Overwatch ban system is broken. All that is needed is to have a few players stacking as a team and they can report you for nothing. Good workaround I found is reporting users that say they are going to report you for silly reason. They will get banned for pushing through false reports and you won't.
I did make statements before about how bad I felt when buying Hollow Knight at a sale for 15 bucks, and would buy it like 3 times out of respect for the game. However, I don't know if I would want that opportunity to ever be a real possibility due to how it can be abused.
yeah i was thinking the same. with some games there have been times when i wanted to support the team more. what did i do? i bought the extra content already available. i bought the dlc for baldurs gate 3 not because i particularly wanted it, but because i wanted to throw a couple extra bucks at the people who made a game i have 300 hours in. putting in some sort of tip system would decentivize the creation of extra content and most likely only harm developers and creators
I was temporarily banned from Overwatch for saying these three quotes: "Me: wants to swap character Mercy: Did someone need a revive? It's actually insane how awful the Overwatch ban/mute system is. also got muted another time for saying "gg have a nice day wp everyone" "oh wait im playing genji uhh your all dogsh*t"
It's the same with youtube. The most toxic people know exactly how to abuse the report system, so if you annoy them by calling them losers, you will be the one who is punished. I think they coordinate in discords or something to mass report.
@@Highimdadtwo entirely false, Rocket league literally will only ban you if you get reported enough times, and you also have to be reported by the whole lobby at least 3 games in a row, and then they also only ban you if you keep doing it after, they still let you play the game and also at Psyonix and Epic games you are banned by a real person not just an automated system. The automated system can only go so far in Rocket league. However I agree that it is totally ridiculous what happened to the guy and i think is it hypocritical for blizzard to ban people when their characters are as sexualized as they are, and the character literally use swear words in their own language.
