Pathfinder: WOTR is an isometric single-player role-playing story game currently in development by Russian studio Owlcat Games and published by Deep Silver, based on Paizo Publishing's Pathfinder franchise. Announced through a Kickstarter campaign in February 2020, the game will be released for PC, Microsoft Windows, and macOS on September 4, 2021. A console version for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series X Gameplay, PS5, PS5 Gameplay, Playstation 5, Playstation 5 Gameplay, will be released at a later date. The game is a sequel to Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

In WOTR the realm of Sarkoris was destroyed when Areelu Vorlesh opened a rift to the abyssal planes of existence, and hordes of demons invaded the world of Golarion. Pathfinder has dozens of classes and subclasses with thousands of abilities, feats, spells, talents, and buffs to choose from. The spell listing allows you to choose from Evocation (Damage Dealing), Enchantment (Crowd Control), Necromancy (Undead), Abjuration (Buffs), Illusion (Crowd Control), Divination (Buffs/Disruptor), and Conjuration (Summoning). This is combined with an insane amount of class/subclass options including Alchemist, Arcanist, Barbarian, Bard, Bloodrager, Cavalier, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Hunter, Inquisitor, Kineticist, Magus, Monk, Oracle, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Shaman, Skald, Slayer, Sorcerer, Warpriest, Witch, and Wizard! It is Owlcat's goal to give each of these classes at least 5 subclasses each!
Choose your Mythic Path and embody an Angel, Demon, merciless Lich, wily Trickster, superhero Azata, law incarnate Aeon, truly evil Swarm, merciful Gold Dragon, or forgo all of them to stand alone as a Legend. Each path will allow you to improve your hero in unique ways, adding a new layer to character development and making your hero and their allies a true match for their powerful enemies.
There are more than a dozen potential party members in the game including Camellia (Half-Elf/Spirit Hunter), Seelah (Human/Paladin), Lann (Mongrel/Zen Archer), Ember (Elf/Stigmatized Witch), Arueshalae (Succubus/Espionage Expert), Woljif (Tiefling/Eldritch Scoundrel), Daeran (Aasimar/Oracle), Sosiel (Human/Cleric), Regil (Gnome/Hellknight), Wenduag (Mongrel/Fighter), Nenio (Kitsune/Scroll Savant), Greybor (Dwarf/Slayer). All of these companions have their own backgrounds, alignments, and motivations. All of them are fully voice acted with unique character models. There are even more followers that are locked behind specific story/mythic quest options!

One correction on this build. I chose Restoration but he actually get's that automatically from Life. You can move up the spell list and then choose whatever you like for your last spell option.

I like that you do these with lore accuracy in mind. I'm so sick of builds recommending that you take a monk dip or vivisectionist in every single build

Also…”take animal companion”😅 healer? Ride a wolf! Tank? Ride a horse!…some people can’t build anything without an animal companion. They are strong all right, but incredibly boring and unimaginative

note: You can give him extra mystery on the mythic path. If you want a necromancy-Daeran, just give him Bones. He gains a lot of necromantic spells from the mystery and an extra bunch of different revelations.

I considered giving him Bones but when I looked at the spell list I felt like I wouldn't really use most of them. Bone Armour is great but it feels weird taking a Mythic Ability just to unlock one revelation.

You're right that in-combat healing is far from ideal (and in that sense Selective Channeling is not top-notch). In most cases, the best thing someone can do to help the party win is something else. BUT there are those encounters where everything is going bad and the characters need healing to keep everyone on their feet (hopefully you don't have 2 or 3 already taking a dirt nap). I suppose in that case "reloading is the best healing" but not everyone reloads or wants to. They try to push through and selective channel is great for that. Fun Fact also: if you have Daeran in your party and face a bunch of undead, but you're on the lich path and several of your party members are undead, Selective Channel will mean Daeran can still use its damaging version without affecting you. There are relatively few big mass undead encounters in WotR compared to KM, but there are still several. I _do_ consider it a Feat Tax and Feat Taxes are never fun to pay but it's a solid utility play. I won't defend Extra Channel. That choice is bad and the devs should feel bad.

There are definitely times when mass healing is useful but I feel like by then you have mass versions of the cure spells anyway. Maybe I'll feel differently about this after finishing a Core playthrough.

@@SlanderedGaming Spell slots are, IMO, for other things generally. I usually find other uses for my cleric or Oracle spell slots, though when it comes to Oracle you're not entirely wrong since a cleric can swap out other spells for healing. Out of combat is generally when I have my peeps drink potions unless I'm being lazy and don't think I'll need to save my channels or spell slots anyhow (which is, admittedly, a lot of the time but those times aren't really crisis times when there's a tradeoff anyhow. Like times when you're going through Blackwater after they nerf it and it's no longer a challenge at all. But build optimization isn't really vital in those cases, anyhow). Characters can guzzle pots out of combat. The real issue I think is convenience lol. It's a bother for _the player_ to have people drinking pots instead of just mass heal everyone even if some characters don't actually need it at all. I do do that tho too, but like I said it's when I'm feeling lazy and don't think it will reduce my resources much in a way that matters for that area/before resting.

There is a crossbow you can get later in the game that makes your heals ranged without the feat making boundless healing unnecessary. It's called life deliverer and you can get it in act 4.

I like the necromancy picks with regards to the role playing aspect. I hate just doong things to min max without some sort of alignment with the character and backstory

Oracle is insanely versatile in WotR. There are the bracelets from Blackwater that adds a bunchof lightning spells and turns all elements you use into electricity. There is a ring that does something similar except for the conversion part but with fire spells. - All in all you can go full healer , and still have fireballs chain lightnings... like an evocation focused sorcerer. YOu can also take a second mystery which also provides a spell for every level - to get even more free spells. With all this I wouldnt even say he is less versatile than sosiel - and he definitely have more uses of all these , and on demand.

Daeran is great, definitely don't mean to downplay him. But I think Cleric if you are will to use Impossible Domain ends up providing more versatility because you have a much wider array of spells to pull from.

@@SlanderedGaming Also there is a ring that adds necromancy spells to the spontaneous caster, spells which Daeran has no access to (like a ray of enfeeblement). Considering you took those spell focus feats those spells would add some crowd control. Also if playing as a lich with undead companions, you can spec Daeran taking inflict spells instead of cure spells (or have both) and use inflict spells also to heal the lich/undead or harm enemies who are living (or nuke undead foes with cure spells). But overall I like your build here, I went for fire-nuker Daeran build but I likely respec him when I can more necromancer as it indeed fits his lore and his dark nature know both mend and break bones.

A second mystery is a must. Free spells, access to more revelations, and another final revelation.

Definitely an option but for me when I looked at the additional spells I felt like I would still be using his base spells.

Combat healer doesn’t currently work with the other feat which allows ranged healing(which imo is really good if you’re building him for healing and support)… therefore getting another healing feat is advised.

I didn't select his revelation that provides ranged healing so are you referring to the Mythic Ability Boundless Healing? If so I hadn't experienced an issue using both of them but I will test it again.

Selective channel is good so you can get mythic channel. Best way to heal until you get Mass Heal IMO

Going to point out Selective Channeling was most useful to the new players in Kingmaker who wanted to use the undead inquistor without butchering her unintentionally. Since you can be a Dhampyr and or a Lich - or both for all I know - in this game, perhaps the thought process was simply, maybe don't nuke you main character? (some people don't like that risk - while others would simply tell them to take more care with the casting of Channel energy) It's mostly an FNG crutch. Thank you for pointing out the auto spells though: I actually would have messed that up and been very frustrated with myself.

That's a good point that I didn't consider because there's a feat which allows Dhampir's to be healed by channeled energy that I take every time.

@@SlanderedGaming Does it offer any other additional benefit? Because if not, it means you used a feat slot you maybe didn't have to. Unless you can change the feats he gets around. Either would work really, but if the feat you take offers something else on top because it's specific to a Dhampyr I can also see that being a better option. Also, hope my joke comment on the Cameilla build didn't offend. I was more trying to help with confirmation of your question asked than to undercut. Hope you have a good day.

@@ezdepaz4363 Yup that's something you have to look out for with a lot of the game mechanics. Spells that you can get for free will still show up on your list unfortunately.

I mean, obviously you only use channel energy after a fight bc you've hamstrung yourself and *can't* really use it during a fight.

Why do you say that? Both Daeran and Sosiel come with it so regardless of which healer I use I have it.

I'm going to Hard disagree with your view of selective healing and extra channel as trash. The healing output and flexibility it offers is enormous and like Andrew McMillan says it is the best way to heal until Mass Heal. All of your other heals are single cast, one per turn, and will use up your spellcast slots and nerf Daeran's ability to effectively buffbot. I think I was maybe level 6-7 or so hitting 39 heal with Mythic Channel and the Phylactery of Positive Energy. If you aren't using the channeling hats then you are going to be working with a gimped heal amount and I can see how you can discount it. Fortunately you can get lesser +1d6 and regular +2d6 ones before and at Drezen. Unfortunately you can't get the negative ones (that I can find) until clearing Drezen for a negative channel build. One thing I am not able to take into account yet is the utility of Boundless Healing as I plan on taking that next for my level 10 Daeran. I took extra channel at 5 and 7 as well and only at 9 went for Point Blank Shots for Precise Shot at 11 along with Spirit Boost (Already had taken Safe Curing and Enhanced Cures). Also I have taken Abundant Casting and Improved Abundant Casting for added utility and extra spot-healing when Boundless Healing comes online. When I want a healer, I want a healer. Samori what difficulty are you playing on? I have been playing Core Mode on my level 10 Quarterstaff Master Monk playthrough and also just finished the rather grueling Defender's Heart battle at level 4 with my new Grenadier Alchemist/Underground Chemist Rogue Legend Build on Hard Mode. That fight took over 2 hours in turn-based mode, almost every spellcast, half of my pots, 5 casts of Grease, 3 casts of Pit, and the many buffs that ran out 2/3 the way through. It's already been excruciating without a decent healer and I literally got in 1 full rest in Kenabres (2 Days and 9 Hours duration) before getting summoned to defend the tavern. Buying the Icy Protector ring for Primal Druid tank Lann made buying a healing merc not possible. You better believe I'm heading down to pick up healing bro Daeran ASAP. On both of these runs I intend to keep Daeran as my party healer, but am building Sosiel as a straight healer/buffbot with a non-improved polearm attack as backup and to compare the 2. Who knows, on future runs maybe I will go heals with Sosiel and damage with Daeran.

I agree, I'm at lvl 9, and my channel energy outputs greater numbers than my biggest single target heal. p.s. Samori plays on normal, so he cant relate to your struggles.

I have started a Core playthrough. I always make sure the pick up Daeran ASAP before being called to Defender's Heart. I try to have that, Storyteller, and Desna's priest quest all resolved ASAP.

I see. The mobs that I cleared in Market Square left nearly all of my characters with a few hp so I headed to Storyteller and back to Defenders to get a full heal/rest in. It literally too 2 days and I think 9 hours for the 'recommended' rest allowing me enough time to take a few steps south of Market Square before being called back for the defense. I don't remember full rests in KM being anything close to what they are in this game. Looking back it sure would have been great to have gotten Daeran for that slog and I think by choosing a less than recommended rest it would have been easy. That said the fight went down with minimal losses 9/12 left and the healer will be obtained soon. My only issue with Daeran is that his spell selection comes slow and later than a cleric but spontaneous casting is so good.

Honestly there is no use in healing your whole party during a fight. You can heal one at a time with cure wounds.

There is just so much wrong with this build. For example, why would you need RESTORATION spell at level up? You have it for free as Life Mystery. Or you didn't mentioned Daeran's ability to use Rapiers as his background, or not picking Prayer spell. There are more, it's just I can make a whole separate video of how not to...
