That's the sad part. Patrice feared fame as much as he deserved it. He was constantly burning bridges (often mentioned, but rarely explained in these AWESOME videos). He didn't want to be in a position to "OWE" anyone. His mindset was that OWE meant that he was OWNED. He couldn't distinguish when someone was honestly trying to HELP HIM (i.e. Chris Rock, Spike Lee...) and when someone was trying to "enslave" him. I'd love to think he'd be a huge start, had he lived. But the truth is, without real guidance and a strong, sharp business manager/agent, he couldn't see the forest through the trees. Adjusted for Patrice: He couldn't see the jungle through the palms. Spite me if you will. But he would have laughed his ass off at that joke.
@@univaruser3691 If Spike Lee genuinely wanted to help Patrice, he wouldn't have cut all contact the moment Patrice turned down a job that Spike asked him to do.
@@Paddy.C spike Lee is kinda a weird pussy. He got mad at Django unchained cause he thought it was a "gratuitous use of the n word" it's in the deep south set 2 years before the civil war. The use of the n word was accurate if anything
@@Paddy.C Exactly, Spike was trying to break Patrice away from his team. Once Spike done that he’d have Patrice on a string because Spike would be the only person he could go to…
REST. IN. PIMP. 3 years ago today we lost not only one of the greatest comedians of our lives but one of the greatest of ALL TIME. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.
55:04 Patrice calls Sandy Kane "Willam DeFoe". Sandy ends up acting in the Oscar nominated "The Florida Project" and has scenes opposite Willam in 2018, 6 yes after Patrice died. More proof Patrice was psychic.
He also would have told Burr and Dorosa to quit being bitches about Ant's racial outlook. Patrice loved that Ant was honest with his racism, because Patrice was honest in his. He's said that so many times on the show.
Yes I'm fully aware he didn't work for Sirius xm but on RU-vid you obviously listen to select episodes and I listen to a lot of the Clips where Patrice was on. Also he has over 130 appearances on the show so while he may have not been being paid I would say he was as close to being on staff without actually being on staff. (And they set him up with his own show in the studio for a few episodes so while he may have not been a member of the O&A staff....) so yeah I don't know what got your panties all in a bunch.
jennpenn5 he kind of did. Not only did opie say he was a part of the program, but he got paid for every virus tour they did. They talked about it on the show
I know comedians are damaged people who hate themselves but Bobbys childhood, damn. And he’s able to joke about it. Got me thinking about the film Sleepers.
I remember making breakfast to this show and just having a big ol laugh how progressive this show was. Todays audience is probably just gonna get offended. Good times. Be good y’all. It doesn’t take much to be nice.
This is all I listen to at night to fall asleep too and yesterday I had the realization that todays RU-vid audience will eventually get this channel off the site. I know I need to record this audio for myself but fuck it I’ll die when it’s gone.
Patrice was the king and everyone knew it. Man controlled a room like no other and had the ability to insult you into loving him. Man was one of a kind.
34:23 with all the funny moments of this episode, this is my favorite part. Patrice shares his insight on Bobby and the respect he has for him. "YKWD, I'm happy." "I know, because you know me."
Lots of Peter episodes. when he saves the lil girl and gets to buy anything he wants... also the one where mom sez "Dont play ball in the house" is a great Peter episode.
Love listening to these again.. There are so many layers. For example.. At 45:00 the way Patrice calmly mentions the install is not for him.. He calmly makes the "I don't get in pumpkin" to show an acknowledgment of the joke with a funny jab right back. He let's them finish their 3v1 and he calmly states again "it's not for me, I don't get in" Then he waits for the right time and makes a definitive statement "gotta keep it fresh, you know?" You can apply this to anytime your getting heckled by your buddies. You acknowledge, make a playful little jab at the one who started.. Let them talk and then talk about something other than yourself that others can agree with (the you know? Statement) I'm sure there is a time and place for everything but I love how he handles himself here. The only time I wouldn't copy Patrice's style is when he was told on the BPShow that callers think his content is dragging on and he should move on to something else. His defense was a sarcastic mockery of what a caller would sound like. I would have loved to hear him go on about this show talks about relationships and reiterating the fact that no matter the girl... These behavioral trends are self evident (see the grand finale with 3 very different women in ep.12) What was important and I know he has stated this but whatever he does is genuine and what he feels.. Whatever your style is.. You can always learn from others but make sure it is genuine.
illwill1991.... bro I am 4 years late but David banner was Bruce's father at one point and also in the live action tv series they changed Bruce's name to David so that's why Patrice would reference that name instead ... again I'm 4 years late providing this answer but I've been watching and re-watching all these old clips, they're timeless
shit thank you, I was listening to one patrice pod cast thinger, and there were like 15 min breaks in the fucken thing lol. I was working out, like again??? god daaaaaaaaam!
59:00 The Asian guy with the accent has got to be the unlikeliest sounding O&A fan I have ever heard. He 'won' the auction for some whatever toy but then proceeded to describe everyone from the show. Pretty cool actually.
bobbie's piccolo joke ~3:45 and on.... or whenever it is.. i wonder if this was before or after louis ck special. (Too lazy to find out...) because thats like exactly louis' joke lol. even the sound bob makes.
What this show needs is Jim Norton chiming in on the crime stories with one of his own, like when Artie Lange is telling some fucked up drug one & he goes that was the same with me. I love the tales from Nortons wild past
