Hi Woolie!! Great to hear from you again! I hope life has been good to you over the past two years and you still enjoy hiking. The hikers of 2020 were a special group and shared a unique experience that no one who wasn't hiking that year can fully understand. Stay in touch!
Thank you for following our adventure and for your kind comments. When I started off recording our hike it was with the idea of being able to share with family and friends. I never anticipated that so many others such as yourself would also enjoy following along. Hopefully we'll have more to share in 2023!
Yay! You should definitely do whatever it takes to get out and have an adventure like this. It's life changing. We're happy that Goldilocks and I could be a part of your motivation for doing it.
Thanks Cheryl. I hope you've enjoyed your backpacking experiences so far. Be careful, it's addictive! Before you know it you'll be planning your own thru-hike.
Thanks HC. I miss the 2020 PCT hike so much! There were times it was tough, but it was the greatest adventure of my life. I only wish I had tried it when I was still young and healthy (i.e. before I was run over by a bus and later suffered a heart attack...). But at least we got to enjoy most of the PCT before it all burned up!
It always feels weird to meet a stranger on the trail and have them recognize me. I had no idea so many people were following our hike in 2020. Thanks for being one of the loyal supporters. We really needed it back then.
Such amazing views. You and Goldilocks are amazing to pick up where you left off. The trail legs get flabby after that much time off trail. I’m sure you’ve done a lot of chimes in the meantime but the pct in that section is a lot of ups and downs and rocks and blow downs. It makes you really work for the miles
You're not kidding about the climbs and trail conditions (blowdowns, etc.) But I have to say that the Washington sections of the PCT are by far the most scenic. I thought the Sierras couldn't be bear for beauty and majesty (and the were rugged and beautiful) but Washington steals the show. Well worth the blood, sweat, and tears.
Hey, Ken!! Looking forward to pt 2... At first, I was thinking maybe the 'smoke' was bothering 'Goldilocks', but as I started watching, I realized it wasn't smokey yet... I can't believe it's Oct, and we are still having days flirting with 80 degrees!!! Kind of strange to see 'highs' on the West side, almost the same as the East side!! Laterz.....
Hey Ed. It turns out Goldilocks actually had a respiratory infection of some kind (not COVID. We tested for that.) And needed about 10 days off trail to recover. Even though she was 100% again, it was too late for her to resume the hike. We'll try again next year!
