Love the use of the phrase "Bring it around the horn" from nautical navigation to unzipping pouches.

Loved this review but you didn't mention what the board is used for in the Eagle Creek one. It's used for folding shirts and pants to make everything uniform and fit in the cube. Also I don't think you mentioned that you can take the board out, so if you wanted to reduce weight or make it more squishy in a backpack you can certainly remove it. There are good videos to show how they use the folding boards in case people are interested.

Both of these are really solid options. My wife owns and prefers the Peak Design while I use the Eagle Creek Specter...although sometimes we get wild and crazy and mix n' match the two ; ) I do think it's worth mentioning that the Peak Design cubes only come in a Small and Med size while the options with the Eagle Creek Specter Tech are much greater ranging from XS to L to Slim Small, etc. More travel/packing options are always a good thing. Great review Tom! Really appreciate all Pack Hacker does for travelers.

I like that the PD ones are both compression AND clean/dirty packing cubes at the same time. This should be pointed out more. EC only has either compression OR clean/dirty cubes (or just normal ones). I think, as of now, PD are the only ones that can do both. But the sizing is not very universal… 32cm is a bit too wide for some backpacks. The small one will fit vertically (17cm x 32cm), but the square form factor of the medium is well, a square, so either 32cm fits into your bag or the cube just doesn’t fit at all. With the rectangular form factor of the EC ones, you can fit them horizontally or vertically into a lot of different sized bags and really use up the bag’s space (tetris :D) I hope there will be more clean/dirty compression cubes in the future! (If you already know of any, please let me know!) Right now, I am using the Eagle Creek Isolate clean/dirty cubes. Clean/dirty just makes more sense to me. I pack for example 10 t-shirts, 10 trunks, 10 pairs of socks and go through them day after day. With clean/dirty cubes they are separated but use the same space. When using compression cubes, I would have to use another dirty clothing bag/cube. And the compresses volume is different if you have 10 and 0 items or 5 and 5 items in each of them.

That was a great review! I wish you'd put the same load on both and compressed it down to see which held more, but it was very helpful nonetheless!

Taskin Compression Cubes rule. Compresses down like EC. But has a dirty clothes side too. Also has a mesh cover so you can see your clothes. YKK zips.

I love my Eagle Creek packing cubes. For me personally, I don't like keeping my dirty clothes contained near my clean clothes, so that feature of the Peak Designs doesn't interest me at all. For my dirty clothes during travel I carry a very light weight mesh sack that isn't very bulky and weighs almost nothing. Works great for me.

Would you please review the travel ERA backpack?

I have both and they're the best in the market. Peaks are a little more heavy (I think all their products are) but they are amazing packing cubes

I just bought peak design and I can't wait to test it in travel. For home tests works perfect.

Can you compare the packing capacity for these?

It's super weird that they didn't do it in the first place. Incredibly obvious. Also, why not summarize which cubes better match their top bags?

Does the peak design cubes fit the Osprey Fairview 40l? Would love to see a video on using peak design/Heimplanet packing cubes in this very bag! No one has done it yet, please be the first Pack Hacker ❤️

I use two small Peak Design cubes in my Osprey Porter 46 and the fit the width well. I have two small packing cubes since I don’t have that many clothes. Six short sleeve shirts are packed in one and four pants (soccer pants, not jeans) with some socks are packed in the other one. There’s room for more but this is what I have packed in them.

No mention of capacity. Can you load as much in Peak ou Eagle ??? Without this info only half the comparison has been done 😢

No comparison really, PD cubes are made to fit into PD bags.

You forgot to mention the capacity. Can you fit same amount of clothes or more in each of the Peak or eagle ? Frankly only half of the comparison has been done 😢

Gets VERY " rounded." The middle is not compressed much at all. Only the outside edges compress.

the Peak D cubes are one of the most over rated things on the internet. the peak adds weight and material to the cube by having compression. same with the dirty close zip and extra flap of material. i keep an empty cube with me when ever i travel for my laundry. fits just fine on top of the clean one i'm emptying. its fun to open the peak but i have some tom bihn cubes that i can tear open too without tabs to do it. as for compression in general, all you have to do is push down on an over stuffed cube and zip it, don't need an extra zipper or flimsy fabric to get the job done. the peak cubes are over engineered and over priced and all the extra zips and material make them twice as heavy as my regular cubes. just cube kids, just cubes.
