He DOES talk a LOT BUT that is the fucking appeal to him eh? At first I was STFU dude and REACT BUT after a few videos I WAS loving his comments EVEN IF I Wanted him to hit play at times, DON'T change it up David, I DID subscribe DUE to your EXCELLENT views and commenting.
Yeah, I like Ten, but Vs is incredible and their best imo. Ten probably comes in the middle of ranking for me. Probably because I think everything on it is better live than the album.
and same here... this is the album that got me into grunge... i still remember the day when i heard this album for the first time and made me pick up the guitar ... and eddie's vocals.... that's everything... never heard anyone sing like this...
That guitar line is “the other guitar player’s” ie Stone Gossard. Dave Abbruzzese wrote the main descending riff and the bam bam bam riff pre chorus, Stone came up with that siren like guitar line.
David Abbruzzese here. I played the drums and wrote the guitar riff. You're right about the into hits. ...and you're welcome. I'm glad you're digging it. It's got tension. I agree. ...we didn't use reverb on my snare. We used classic resnare technics and the room size.
Dave you are a legend brother. Still love Pearl Jam today but just know in all of our minds you are in the Rock N Roll hall of fame. VS and Vitalogy were amazing
Not just saying it but I wish you stayed as the drummer, I prefer your style with more feel, more complex sounding and makes the songs what they are, always thought they lost something when they changed drummer, still a great band but I think your one of the reasons ten is the best album, take care
Dude, you're a legend. You know that right? You and Dave Grohl are my favorite drummers. Both guys named Dave and both from the Seattle scene. Strange.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME DUDE! YESSSSSS!!!! "There playing 3 on 4 but instead of starting on the down beat there starting on the UP beat. I've never heard that pulled off so well" FUCKKKKK! Never knew how to express that and I shed a tear in a private moment when you got it out to tons of people for us who felt that. You're awesome man!
Soon as I heard this back in the day, I was a pearl jam fan for life, I already knew Jeremy but that didn't pull me into them but VS... I played that album non stop for decades, I love it so much, there's not a bad track... 😊
Dave Abbruzzese was a massive asset to Pearl Jam for the two albums he played on (VS and Vitalogy). His playing is very tight, but carries a lot of energy and helps make this song IMO. Mike McCready's solo in this one was a one take, spur of the moment thing. He's stated that he has trouble recreating the solo in live performances, because he just played what he felt at the time. Probably my favorite solo of his.
@dathorndike4908 No, Ten was Dave Krusen. Abbruzzese played on VS and most of Vitalogy, with Irons playing on "Foxymophandlemama" after Abbruzzese was ousted.
The Rythm and soul behind most early PJ is Stone. He would throw off these riffs behind the scene that would get stuck in your head for days. It’s why he’s one of my favorite guitarists ever. Especially live from 94-05. His improvisations were second to none. Especially with headphones.
I love that you're not going for the usual cliches of so many reaction channels, and also that you _need_ to figure things out when others would go like "wow, I don't know what they did there but I like it". Your passion for music is truly contagious, and makes you a lot of fun to watch and listen to.
Nice review. Thanks for calling out everybody including the engineers. One of these days you're going to remember Stone Gossard's name as the rhythm guitarist and CO-FOUNDER of the band with Jeff Ament. He's an amazing musician who really had the reins in the early days. They're all extremely talented dudes actually which is oddly probably one of keys to their longevity. They go out and do their own thing all the time and are successful individually. Glad you found a second for your play list! 😁
Stone plays lots of single line counter melody parts in tons of songs, especially as Eddie started to play guitar on more songs (Eddie does not play guitar on this song). This and "Why Go" and "Deep" from Ten are probably the most "metal" of their songs. "Rearviewmirror" from this album, especially any live version, can be absolutely bonkers, especially by the end.
The music was written by the now-former drummer Dave Abbruzzese. Jeff's also hitting his 12 string bass hard too. I can't have a guitar in my hands tuned to drop-D and not play this song.
Still remember getting this record the week it came out as a kid. I kind of begged my mom for the album (which was something i generally didn't do). Got home, got to the first chorus of this song and knew they were my favorite band and have been ever since. oh and that absolutely is a shreddy solo. haha
Notice how joey jordison took their groove intro and just sped it up and threw it into their slipknot song before I forget hahaha that's how u noticed the groove brother
til this i remember when i heard this album for the first time... THIS album got me into grunge.. i couldn't believe what i was listening to... entire album...
Who remembers MAD SEASON? Mike mccready and Lane Staley did one album tonight. The bassist was a well know blues player, he’s passed. The album was named ABOVE. They had 2 big hits Wake Up and River of Deceit. The entire album is an amazing journey.
its by soundgarden and was written by current drummer of pj, matt cameron whom has written tons of pj songs during the last 20 years including this years "get it back", "take the long way" and cowrote "dance of the clairvoyants"
Someone else recommended it...if you like this song, I think you’ll love Spin the Black Circle by PJ. FYI, the black circle is a vinyl album. PJ dug and pushed the vinyl before it was cool.
Loved seeing them live in late 90s They took it back in a since pushing Mike out there with solos in their 2-3 hour concerts and some jam sessions it was AMAZE ING. 🥹😆 I love all their stuff but I wanted a whole album like Go after hearing it. Yeah I’m not very realistic…..hey don’t turn me on and slam the door in my face.
I'm am not surprised at all that you liked this one. Others from PJ that are similarly rocking include: Leash, Rearview Mirror, Blood, Spin the Black Circle, and Why Go. As your tour through PJ has already revealed they have a lot of different sounds. You seem to like the heavier ones best.
“What is that…a goat?” Next up: album reaction to Pink Floyd’s “Some kind of Animals or Whatever” ;) Loving your channel, thanks for bringing some knowledge and experience to this genre😊
So far, Im only at the point where you are discussing the intro. As this has always been one of my favorite songs of theirs, its great watching you, as a head banger, talk about the intro and predicting that the song is about to take off, yet not knowing exactly how extraordinary its going to be. Now I will hit play to see you reaction to the next pat (hehe)
Hey can you react to Pearl Jam - Blood (Live at Mount Smart Stadium - Auckland, NZ 1995) one of their heaviest songs and one of Eddie's most powerful vocal performances. It'll leave you sweating. Great reaction as always, Go is a BANGER
This is my favorite PJ Album. The main stream mostly ignored it but it have stood out over the years! WISH LIST is on this album. If you haven’t done that one it’s a Jem. If you were a rich and famous rock star, what would you wish for?
sounds like dueling guitars at times, great, bassline incredible, drums amazing and Eddie's voice you can feel the aggression... not boiling over in the beginning but it's an aggressive f U song.....
This is on the harder side of their stuff yeah, but I think "Habit" goes harder. Still this has a brilliant intro. Reminds me of a couple of tracks off of video games I loved the intros of in a similar way ("Little Piggy" by Jug off of one of the Destruction Derby games does a really interesting beat extension before it kicks in that kinda adds a three-roll to two groups-of-five snare smashing and "Tangerine (instrumental version)" by Feeder off of Gran Turismo 1 begins with some threes-over-fours before it clears it up with some hat hits and they both have the same "whoa what was that I'm pumped now" quality that this Pearl Jam track achieves).
Last time I'll bother ya with this one... but I think you'll appreciate it. I'll watch every PJ video you do.. us fans cannot get enough content!! There's definitely a cult like following lol. ( don't get me wrong, I'll watch whatever... but I specifically find new channels while searching PJ reactions lol) Watch "Pearl Jam - Blood (Mt Smart Stadium - Auckland, New Zealand 3/25/1995 - Video)" on RU-vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--RTz0JNxNEU.html
Who is figuring out what his brother tried to teach him, so long ago? The journey of musical discovery never ends and that’s what makes it fun to walk...listen.
Go is my favorite pj song. Short but sweet. The opening track for this and Vitalogy might be the greatest ever. Except maybe Them Bones by Alice in chains
The best track off this album is Rearviewmirror, I'm shocked you've reacted to so many songs from Pearl Jam but not that. It's a classic and a kind of tune I think you'd enjoy. The version from SNL 1994 is the definitive one, for me. The intensity from 3:15 or so onwards is crazy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bt9_SgakI1o.html
I did a reaction to Rearviewmirror, unfortunately it was blocked. It is up on the Patreon page if you wanna check it out over there, totally up to you.
This song is the perfect example of groove, and how important it is to have a drummer that understands playing in the pocket. Dave Abbruzzese is the essence of groove, and is by far the best drummer for PJ. When he was in the band, they had a very distinct groove that none of the other bands from that scene had. It was what made PJ worthy of being included in the Seattle big 4 along with Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, and Nirvana. Without Dave in the band, to me, they’re just average.
Great review once again. I personally would have liked a live version better as I feel that live is the best way to listen to pearl jam. But it's all good. Just glad you liked it. Another rocker from this album is blood. I would love for you to react to it sometime. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b-Nz0vHSxMw.html
Hah did u 4 get we were here watching u?? Err another Pearl jam song I don’t know it was really rockin an the guitar played is one crazy bee 🐝 who’s the other guitar player? Wish I could understand what Eddie sings It’s a 7.1 Sister says PT stands for Pearl Time !!!!!
dude your speakers are the wrong way around, I am listening on headphones and its the opposite of what you said, I checked my headphones, so unless you inverted the stereo on your audio...your speakers are the wrong way around
@@THEDavidHeretic I think the Llama show how pearl jam feels with their skyrocketing popularity and record industry pressure. The VS album was called 5againts1 before at the last minute was change to VS
This was about my favourite tune from the album when it came out . Was listening to it just below ear-bleed level in the car today, good times, good music. I think you would like the 'Stone Roses', would be good to see you react to them.
