You should react to the original version of Love Reign O'er Me by The Who on their Quadrophenia album which is a masterpiece. Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam worships The Who like I do and performs with them often. To me Love Reign O'er Me is Roger Daltrey (lead singer of The Who) greatest vocal performance ever. And Eddie does a great job paying tribute to his idol in this cover of Love Reign O'er Me.
Pete Townsend of "The Who" wrote the Rock Opera "Quadrophenia" in 1973 and "Love Reign O'er Me" was a track from the two album set and later the 1979 movie soundtrack of the same name. --- The original song by The Who is the track that should have been featured here.
Love that u r checking out Pearl Jam. GREAT BAND! GREAT SONG! Thanks Lloyd! Awesome reaction! This is a great movie too! It is a tear jerker and very deep. ❤🌧 (Fyi: on the vid title.. its Pearl Jam vs Jams. Just letting u know b4 someone gets all huffy about it. Lol 🤗).
You really need to watch Pearl Jam LIVE. They're AMAZING. Soul, energy, power. "Black" from MTV unplugged "Porch" from PINKPOP '92 are popular live videos. Black is deep tortured emotional Eddie Vedder vocals. Porch from PINKPOP is the crazy side of the band. And they were fuckin MANIACS when they were young!
"O'er" is just short for "over." (Love Reign Over Me). Like "over" isn't short enough already. LOL. Mostly, I think of "o'er" in the lyrics to "The Star-Spangled Banner. (O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming." :-) ) This was originally performed by the British rock group The Who in 1973.
The movie was a very powerful deep message about loss and despair. It was a rare serious role for Adam Sandler and he did a great job. For anyone dealing with deep clinical depression it gives a very insightful view of the day to day struggle. But the movie shows that with a lot of work and a mountain of love things get better. The movie was so real and deep that everyone can identify with tragic loss and the road to recovery. I would say it's one of my top five movies that deal with the "here and now" and touches people of all walks of life. I highly recommend it and was very impressed with Adam's ability to play a very serious deep role. We are all much stronger then we think but it take the people around us and lots of love to reveal it.
@@adrock1011 - The entire Quadrophenia album is a masterpiece and reacting to a "cover" version is ridiculous, even if the cover is a good version, it ain't the Who
Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam performed greatly on this song by The Who. I've been a Who fan for more than 40 years.....and to me Love Reign O'er Me is the greatest song ever written. You should react to The Who's original version of Love Reign O'er Me.....it is stunning.
This is a great cover....The movie isn't bad either, I think it is one of Adam Sandler's best movies by far but he had a great all-star cast and Don Cheadle, Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler and Donald Sutherland with many others....You should watch it....
Tip. An apostrophe ' in the middle of a word means letters are purposely missing from the original word, in this case 'over' is to be pronounced o'er (orr) me. It is often used in English poetry and song lyrics to make a longer word scan within the verse.
You should do the original by The Who it's much much better, this is from the dbl album Quadrophenia which was also a movie. ( Not the Adam Sandler Movie,Reign Over Me) They have another album that was made into movie.Tommy you should listen to that sound track and album by The WHO
You have to do a reaction to the Who version as no one comes close to Roger Daltrey as he puts himself 110% in the song, once you listen to it you'll see.
Original is Original but this cover is very well done! I wish the younger generation would listen to more of this than all that rap. There is so much more out there.
The original was better the songs taken from the album quadrophenia which then became a film of the same name , this was the 1st album I ever bought at 14 over 40 years ago , and I saw the film a number of times at the cinema it was an18 certificate but I still got in to see it :-) even at 14 it shaped my teenage years We are the mods we are the mods The quadrophenia album has been done with a full orchestra a few years ago which to listen too is pretty impressive
Rain sounds like rain but it’s not water reign means to over see someone like a king reigns over his kingdom was written by the band THE WHO look them up
Most of my songs are about Jesus. Most of my songs are about the idea that there is salvation, and that there is a Savior. But I won't mention his name in a song just to get a cheap play. Pete Townshend...quote
WHY would you not react to The Who which is the original band for this tune? Roger Daltrey's voice is the best on this tune with no doubt! Totally ridiculous on your part!
This is my first time hearing this song. I love pearl jam but the music in this song is noisy and to busy.. I'm not digging it even though eddy sounds great.
