Bingo! Nowadays players watch his videos and LEARN from teacher Pele. The greatest of all times! The title of this video is so so true. HE DID IT FIRST. The others just learned from the KING.
It's like Jimi Hendrix, sure you could say there are better guitar players now, but he created it out of nothing. He provided the blueprint for future players.
The bloodiest civil war was stopped in Nigeria back in the 60's so they could watch this man play. Unbelievable. Players from following generations learned from him and were inspired by him. He was the FIRST, the ORIGINAL. The BEST. The greatest ever. Period. Rest in peace KING.👑👑👑👑👑
No. A lot of these moves were not invented by him.. for example the bicycle kick was done by Ramon Unzaga in 1914. So I don't know why people are giving someone's credit for something that they think he did first
@@davinalopez-oz1ez The comparison is between those memorable plays showed in the video, chill bro. When those became highlights, Pele already did the same before, that's the context.
@@masudbillah6196 then why weren't so many wonderful skillful dribblers at that time ? Like just Pelé and Garrincha were the top ones but It only remains one name for the one who was far away ahead of his time and this name is Pelé.
He played at a time, no one took football seriously, like even a country like INDIA rejected the offer to play the world cup cause they thought it was worthless.
this is giving me goosebumps. just shows how much of a genius he was. Because those times there was no RU-vid there was no real way of rewatching a game or highlights. he wasn’t doing it for the cameras etc. He was doing it because he was a genius, an artist. Doing things nobody had really done before. He really did do it first. RIP PELE
These clips of King Pelé, is just a tip of the iceberg. Young generations of today cannot fathom this unparalleled enigma called Pelé who was light years ahead of his contemporaries. For some of us alive today who had glimpses of him, we know exactly what we saw, a genius from another planet. It's in fact sacrilegious and an insult to the highest degree to compare him to Maradona or any other player of later generation. FIFA did a great disservice to football by co-awarding the player of the century to Pelé and Maradona. The Argentinian, has no business being on that platform with the King of soccer, Pelé.
I could say he was the best one footballer in history. He changed the game, he was the first one "name" at this sport. I hope he is resting in peace. A big hug to all Brazilian people there. From Argentina. 🇦🇷
Pele wasn't just a football player, he was an inspiration. I am the unluckiest person in the world because I never got to watch him actually 'play', but I've seen what he can do. He was such an impactful and overall amazing person that the bloodiest war in Nigeria stopped for 2 days just so both sides could see him play. (I mean no offense by this) He was so great that even you, an argentinian, basically the main 'rival' of Brazil when it comes to football, still show you care about Pele. Thank you for your condolences, and I hope whoever's reading this has a nice rest of their day.
God bless you. We're all brothers. It doesn't matter if you was born in Argentina, if I'm a Brazilian. We're all brothers, from Japan to Canada, from Chile to Russia.
I remember the first time I saw him play when he was brought to the NY Cosmos in 1975. He inspired many through his 2 years there. What came to my mind was his speech at his "retirement" game. He had the whole Giants stadium shouting "Love" - as it is the greatest gift to mankind. I can stil hear his voice saying, "Say it with me ... Love ... Love ... Love ..." RIP Edson. Your love of people and "the game" impacted many. The Best of The Best! #Pele10
Kinda the opposite,he is considered the King because he straight up reinvented how to play football, while everyone learn from the last god player,he was *the first* god player. But if he was to do the same thing nowadays he would be a god but not the king since there are people doing what he did. He was the first one to dare using these more “street football” tricks on the big stage and with mastery of execution while there was basically no one he could learn it from, that’s why he is the king.
@@wowok8375 because he was the most complete. He could do everything. There's a video on youtube called "Pelé era el futuro", I think it answers well why he's the most important.
@@wowok8375 Because without his existence football wouldn't develop as fast as it did, a lot of improvements came after him, he was the first super athele in football, kinda like Cristiano (tbh Cristiano is kinda like him, not the opposite), in terms of take care of health and follow strictly the trainning, even the yellow and red card came because of him. Before Pelé the shirt with the 10 wasn't related to the best player, it was only after Pelé that the number 10 become a mark of the best player. Cristiano kinda did it with the 7 for exemplo, but in a way small scale. He's also the first complete player, and maybe the most complete ever, since he was perfect with both legs, awesome header, super striker, also awesome at freekicks, assists and as a playmaker. He was one of the most famous person on earth, almost everybody knew him, in every continent, even in USA where they aren't big fans of football. His a landmark athlete, even Muhammad Ali was said to be shy next to him. And you can see how other giants of other sports also cared, like Rafael Nadal, Usain Bolt, Mike Tyson, and even some presidents. People try to make less of him because he didn't play on Europe, but at that time Brazil's league was as good as there, Europe wasn't ahead in football that time like it is today, that's why even Di Stefano and Puskas had put Pelé as the best player ever.
He was the blueprint that modern footballer drew inspiration from. Kinda like how the beatles were the prototype popstars or how Muhammad ali was the prototype boxer. There's always the first one to do it big.
@@matheushenrique1395 Europe is only good becuz of money, Brazillian football is beautiful to see, but obviously people are not interested in a Libertadores since Champions League has Messi and had Cristiano Ronaldo
In my opinion for pele football was not just a sport, it was a way of life. He not only play, but breathed and ate football. Everytime I see he's videos, all I see besides he's skill, it's the joy he always had when he played. Pele the humble giant, the creator of beautiful skill, the king of football. May you rest in peace and keep showing your passion in the after life.
As a brazilian, I'm sad. Not because I was a great fan of him, but because what he meant to the football. He inspired generations, here in Brazil and around the world. The sport, not only football, can save lifes. For good, as human beings, we need these inspirations. I hope that the future of football could be great, happy and truly capable to join people around the world, as he wished it was, and as he did. It's time to Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Mbape take the place and turn themselves a inspiration. Kids are coming, and they need a dream, and if the dream have to do with football, so let it be. As we say here in Brasil: it is not just about football.
First my sympathie and condoleances for you and other brazilians for the lost of Pelé! I'm not brazilian but belgian and I'm shocked and devastated because Pelé gave me the love for football! I have seen him playing 1 time as a kid of 8 years old and believe me he was magic on the field! For me he is the only GOAT, I like also Messi but he does not come close to Pelé, Pelé could do things on the field which I never seen Messi doing.RIP PELE!!!! You were and will always be my football idol!!!
Being a messi fan! I realized I didn't know Pele; people never watched and supported in billions as now. Pele played when there was no such icons, he is the first greatest icon and inspiration for Brazil and the world. The beginner is the Pioneer!! so now I think He Is The Only GOAT with 3 WC🏆🏆🏆 and many other records; Specially International Goals or achievements!! We got smart watch now, But He who Invented the 1st watch is The Hero of all Time!!
The difference is that Pele was the first real giant of football that a generational impact. It was Pele that made instructional football shows that showed the techniques to kids growing up in the 60ties and 70ties, and in times of great racial tension he and Muhammed Ali were probably the two athletes more than anyone else that made people of all ethnicities see athletes without race. Pele was and is the most important football player and ambassador that the world has seen - and given the importance of football he is probably the greatest athlete the world has seen. Yes the speed of the game has increased and the current players are better, but none set the stage as Pele did!
Wow, you talked from perspectives I never considered. My condolences to you, all Brazilians and all people saddened by his passing. The two things I like about Pele's football are first, he has been consistent for about 19 years, second he nearly created all these excellent moves. I said nearly because there was no TV and internet at the time. You don't have access to all tricks before your time at the time.
This is not ALL that Pele did first, there's lots and lots more! Mind bending powerful shots that curved were done by Pele before Roberto Carlos, watch the 1970 highlights against Romania, Pele's display of sheer power and accuracy.
Every skill he did on the pitch is inadvertently being done by most of the players today without them even knowing that, what they are doing had already been done by pele
The real G.O.A.T. I did not see him playing but the few videos of his games that i saw made see how special he was and he was the most complete player (dribbling, great head, great right foot, great left foot, great passes). He did it all almost 50 years ago.
Even during 1980s long before Maradona, Pele was still seen as a living legend. He was sensational during his time. All his moves were past on from generation to generation, but Pele did them first.
He did all the roles of a winger, midfielder and playmaker singlehandedly as a striker. He is definitely the (G.O.A.T) Greatest Of All Time. R.I.P Legend!
If I tell you he played as a GK as well you'll be nuts (4 official matches- 0 goals conceded) (7 with unnoficial matches-1goal conceded and the guy was face to face with him). There are actually some footage of him as a 50 years old taking some penalty kicks and honestly he dives and was a better goal keeper than Kepa. João Saldanha the Brazillian coach of 1969 once said. "he is our best striker, best midfielder and best defender... Hell he must even be our best goalkeeper if we put him there". And the reasons for why he was a good GK? he told the journalists once that when he was playing for fun or on some trainings they putted him on Goal because according to him the others tought it was unfair if he played on the line, the man must've trained more as a goal keeper than a striker LOL
@@ssbarg300 that's right, people say it's Messi or Maradona or CR7, but the debate ended when Messi proved that someone can replicate what Maradona did (they have the same style, same skills and everything) but Messi is just a little bit better... For Pelé, well no one ever play the same way as he did and not on every position. He is indeed the best and greatest player. But praises to Mess, Maradona and CR7... They were the closest to ever reach Pelé. 1- Pelé 2- Messi 3- Maradona 4- CR7
@@luccavalentinw.fiorini2302 actually i disagree with your ranking my ranking is 1- Pele 2- maradona 3-Ronaldo(r9 not cristiano) 4-Messi because i think what r9 did is way better than what cristiano and messi did and i dont agree on messi being better than maradona i think maradona is a little bit better
@@ssbarg300 I mean, it's really debatable... If I would choose R9 or CR7 on peak I would also go for R9, and if It wasn't for his injuries he would be easily better and greater than CR7 and maybe Messi (his passing skills were not as goos as Messi). But sadly we need to take the injuries on the end to analyze his career and even with his 2 career ending injuries he still is TOP 10 of history and maybe top 5 (some consider Cruyff/Puskas or Di Stefano). So his longevity was reduced due to that... If he was fine for his whole career, more than 800 goals for him would be fairly easy. And for Maradona and Messi is also a good debate, since both were them played practically the same way on every department of the field. Messi is like a copy-paste from Maradona, but his numbers and trophies are greater and better so this is why I'm inclined towards Messi instead of Maradona, but it's undenyable that Maradona was also a generational genius that also had drug problems that reduced his longevity that could be far greater. As for CR7 I really have a tought time to figure it out where he is located... Sometimes I put him on 3rd,4th or even 5th (not below this) since his longevity, numbers, records and titles are awesome, but he doesent have a WC like Messi, Maradona, R9 or Pelé, and his peak was "worst" than all of these 4. So in the end for me it's just Pelé that is clearly greater and better than all the others and Messi is a 2nd place but still clearly bellow Pelé. And then the other 3 struggle to fight for the 3rd post since they all have pros and cons to these positions. 1- Pelé 2-Messi 3-Maradona/CR7/Ronaldo depending of the parameter
Two things to consider when talking Pele: - less than 10% of his games were actually filmed - Brazil' government put a ban on a Pele transfer outside of country during his peak. He was basically proclaimed an official NATIONAL TREASURE during his career. Simply, the best to ever do it.
Pele, the standard, original trail blazer that all who came after him stands on his legacy. He remains and will always be the King of football ⚽. I personally thank this great man for making the beautiful game what it is today. Almost every great moves by other great players at different times in history was already done by Pele and he still holds the World cup record that no one else has achieved. I will not waste my breath to compare Pele to any other footballer because they all try to measure up to him. Rest in peace 👑 and thank you for all you did for ⚽, the one and only 🐐
@@TheDYNAMITE001 You are right and I love Pele's celebration! However, what does it matter? Each player celebrates as they wish. Are you more of a prejudiced person? I do not think so. Thus, you need to respect players who celebrate goals by dancing too. Football is a competitive sport, but for many people, it is also a joy. Pelé has always said this and supports Brazilian players who suffer racism when dancing. It's better to keep quiet for Brazilians and Pelé!
@Jota Efe I mean the difference is so clear, the teams are very distinct. The entitlement that comes with being regarded as football royalty has led to spoilt kids living in past glory
@@LEB-AGENT-00 people's opinions on the greatest of all time will forever change, but the First, will forever be the first. Pele was first to do it all, the creator of the #10 role. Creator of every dribble that Modern Football plays with. They all copy from the KING👑 PELE!🏆🏆🏆🇧🇷
@@LEB-AGENT-00 agreed messi is not small but to do it as the first and to revolutionise football in the form of WC, it will forever be only Pele. Thats a forever history lesson.
And imagine how many amazing plays weren’t even filmed. Remember he was playing with a way heavier ball and really hard boots, also the field had harsh grass
Pele you were my hero. When I read you’re bio it put into words how I felt about football. I want to personally thank you for bringing football to the US like it is today. Creating a game of craft, and showing that playing with a ball is an art and not just running with a ball and scoring. Thanks Edson for putting it into words🙏❤
He was the true original. Inspired great players like neymar, Brazilian and Portuguese ronaldo, mbappe etc. Will always be a beacon of hope to every child with a dream. Adios o rei💯
At one point I thought they played in the same era but by the time Maradona was born (20 years after Pelé), Pelé had already won his first world cup and was going for the second 🥵👑. RIP Primero ⚽
He did it first with heavier footballs, heavier boots, heavier tackles and heavier pitches than the greats who came after him (Maradona 20 years later and Messi 50 years later).
When they say football, “PELE” is the only player that comes first in my mind. ❤️ Truly Inspirational to millions and millions. Rest In Peace God of Football. 🪦🪦
Pelé não só foi o atleta do século mais também a maior e última lenda do século com certeza, nunca mais existirá outro igual, não pelo menos por muitos e muitos anos... Descanse em paz Rei Pelé 👑🥇🇧🇷
One thing that nobody is saying: He did without videos/highlights AND with a much heavier ball than today, without boots made for footbal with the best tecnology, in a field that much times was often bad for a football game. And still he did all, from his mind. GOAT.
Pelé was, by far, the biggest athlete on all sports in the las 150 years. Folks literally stopped a fucking war in order to watch Santos of Pelé to play a match in Nigeria. We just can wonder what is to watch an athlete so above all others doing his thing.
Mann I literally feel so disgusted by myself that I got carried away by the trends which aimed at trolling this legend. Those backyard goals and other shit stuff was so cruel; RIP KING 🥺
Since Pele didn't play professionally in Europe, most people only got to see him play every four years in the World Cup, Just imagine if he played in Europe in his prime.
@@claudiodossantos5995 It's more about the exposure than the league quality, back then the best players generally played in their domestic leagues, so it stands to reason that the Brazilian Leagues were top quality. Of course nowadays, best Brazilian players play in Europe professionally.
Don't need to. He played against every major team from Europe during tours and won. Real Madrid had two matches against him and refused to play the second due to his dominance
@@edlawn5481 at that point in time Brazil had one of the best league in the world. Italy is the only one that comes to mind that could compete with Brasil.
