That other interview and the related messages were done after it received cancellation. Or rather, "non renewal". So it sounds more like damage control, saying that the creative staff did not want a new season. This "non renewal", effectively cancelling the series, sound both from creator and producer. But as you would see, at the end of season 1 they received "confirmation of a season 2". It is only during season 2 (in the middle of it) that they received "confirmation of a season 3". So it's not "all planned before", as director and messages seem to imply. It more looks like something done "on the flow", depending on success, costs, and what the producers want to fund. These seem to determine the duration. The fact that the creator did not want a 4th season is possible, but it's also very possible that if the producers would have come to him and confirmed 5 seasons from the start, he would have written things differently. The ending of season 3, also, sound terribly rushed, and i think it's because they knew during the season there would be no season 4, so they had to "package an ending".
