Welllll the john lennon song was about the benefits of communism but PTX used it in this day and age to show tolerance so that is good. taking the bad intentions of a song and making it have good ones is beneficial!

Yep. It always bothers me when people react to home free or voice play before they discover Ptx. Thinking Ptx is trying to keep up. Nope Ptx is The most successful a cappella group of all time and is the only group to have mainstream success and win tons of accolades. 3 Grammys, billboard number 1’s and platinum and double platinum records. Sold out stadium tours including MSG. Not to mention their 20 million subscribers. Oh and now a star in the walk of fame.

Yes, Kevin can definitely sing higher than Scott. I'm pretty sure that he can sing as high as Mitch and Kirstie, and he may even be able to go a bit higher than them. Has anyone encountered a video of Kevin doing whistle notes?

She was one of the victims, as are all of John's fans, and as the primary victim who still has the ability to express her opinion Yoko must be allowed to speak for all of us.

@@KaireemReactions I'm passionate about many things: the beauty and sanctity of our planet, good music, caring for people, protecting my country, defending myself. But the murderer of John Lennon is one of a very *few* people whom I hate passionately, and sometimes I get carried away. Have you seen the old videos of The Beatles on the _Ed Sullivan Show_ ? I was in grade school when that happened. "The British invasion," they called it. I wasn't a big Beatles fan; I loved their songs more than I loved their singing, if that makes any sense, and I didn't love all of their songs. I agreed with the girls who thought they were "cute," but I was never one to swoon over some guy just because he was cute, and they were obviously all too old for me anyway. But there were two songs that came from them that were iconic. One was "Let It Be," (written primarily by Paul, no matter what it says on the album and sheet music) and the other didn't actually come from *THEM* - "Imagine" came from John, period. He wrote it after The Beatles split up. I'd really like to see a Pentatonix -cover- upgrade of "Let It Be." Maybe, one of these days....

What I've seen of Scott singing whistle notes was basically Scott TRYING to sing whistle notes, and everyone being kind about it. On the other hand, I think he was taken by surprise on that occasion. I'm not one to speak, since not only can I not do it myself I simply don't understand it at all. I've seen how-to videos and couldn't make sense of them. I have a feeling that the higher your natural voice is the more likely you are to be able to sing whistle notes, which puts Scott at a serious disadvantage. I've also seen a video where Mitch says that he (Mitch) cheats on whistle notes, by doing them on an inhalation instead of an exhalation, and that Kirstin's are much better than his. But I haven't seen anything of Kevin doing whistle notes, and it feels like something he'd be very good at (because Kevin is good at everything he does, and he certainly has the high voice part of it down). BTW, have you seen the video where Kevin and the trio all demonstrate that they can do overtone singing, too? For anyone else who might be following, the overtone question comes at 17:15 - although if you start there, you'll miss them singing "Aha" off mic and totally at random from viewer requests - it's pretty awesome!

@@Badger77722 You're entirely welcome. Someone else pointed me to that video in the first place and I'm glad to pass it on. There's another video in which Avi was asked about how he does overtone singing, and I think he was taken by surprise because his answer was, um, impossible. As in, I tried it and there's just no way to vibrate the tip of your tongue the way he described. But it was close enough to the explanation in that tutorial video to make me think that this is, indeed, the way PTX does overtone singing. I had previously believed that what Avi did was Tuvan throat singing, which is another variety of overtone singing. I had asked a music teacher about Tuvan throat singing way back in the 1980s and she told me not to try it, that I could permanently damage my voice if I did, so I've been very careful to avoid it. But this kind of overtone singing is produced entirely by how you hold and move your tongue while singing; I see nothing about it that could be dangerous in any way, except possibly to one's ego if it turns out that it's harder than it appears to be, and that's the kind of injury we should already know how to recover from.

@@margretrosenberg420 Took a look at the tutorial and yes, it looks like anyone who can sing could play around with that and do it without worrying about damaging themselves - other than a bruised ego, as you mentioned. 😄

@@Badger77722 Hey, my ego is already bruised: I will *never* have the voice of Mitch or Kirstin. 😪 If we let the fear of a bruised ego stop us from trying new things we'd never have any fun; I prefer to have fun. Your mother may have told you "If it's worth doing it's worth doing well." And so it is. But also, if it's truly worth doing it's worth doing badly. Just because I'm not a five star chef is no reason I shouldn't make a tuna salad sandwich for myself (though I do make a pretty good tuna salad). And singing is worth doing, even if we aren't as good as Pentatonix.

Kevin is unbelievably talented. What he did with "Down" was incredible, not just the singing and beatboxing and cello and looping, but he managed to make his electric cello sound like an electric bass guitar! I kept thinking "And this is where Mitch comes in to turn it into an electric guitar duet." I'd love to meet Pentatonix someday, but Kevin is the one I'd most like to have a conversation with; there are so many questions I'd like to ask him.
