No one can deny that Avi is amazing. But, Matt has proven that he is just as amazing. Two very different styles, but similar in sheer talent. Mad respect to both of them.
Both men have spectacular talent. However I am pretty sure if Avi randomly walked into my life and asked me to marry him ten minutes later I would say yes! 😍😍🤩🤩😁
@@amandagonzales2621 lol ya, I'm a straight guy (love women) so not into Avi's looks, just love his rich tones, especially in Say Something and Mary did you know!
There's been a dialogue going around the internet about the various versions of this song that I happen to agree with. It says that the Simon & Garfunkel original is a gentle warning of things to come, the Disturbed cover is an angry response that the warning was ignored, and the Pentatonix cover is hopeful optimism that the warning will still be heard.
This was the first song I ever heard with Matt as well. As much as we all love Avi, you can’t help but appreciate and love Matt after this performance!
People will continue to choose sides over the Avi vs Matt controversy. An opinion is fine, but the silly bickering is a waste of time. They are 2 different people with 2 different sounds and techniques that happen to sing the same part of bass. I have a preference, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the other singer.
I'm telling ya. You will choke on your tea and fall out of your chair when you hear their version of Amazing Grace (my chains are gone). It is THAT good.
So. I can't wait for you to react to PTX 'Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone'. Basically, I want you to melt into a puddle of tears--enough to fill that darn teacup of yours.
Hope he doesn't wait until Christmas to start on their Christmas music. 🥰 Maybe start with Making Christmas around Holloween. Then move on to Mary Did You Know?, Silent Night, White Winter Hymnal and ...?
"Aha" Singapore......you will have to pick your jaw off the floor! The live version is recorded on a cell phone but you can hear how good Mitch really is.
I've been in love with Avi since the first moment I saw/heard him, but Matt is absolutely a worthy successor to him, and I have come to love him just as much as the other 4. Speaking of Avi, I'm going to keep on bugging you to do his solo song "Change on the Rise" until the end of time or until you get to it, whichever comes first. 😁 As always, love your reactions!
I believe Travis just got MATT slapped! 😄I love your reaction to this and the constantly surprised face, and now I REALLY can't wait until you do Amazing Grace! I am a little surprised you didn't mention Scott's coat, but maybe it's because you were just so shocked by his deeper range. 😉
I love this rendition as it highlights each member and the beatboxing is incredible. Sometimes I swear Kirstin is composed of arms, legs, a head, and lungs. She shines in Rather Be, Shallow, Amazing Grace, and Seasons Of Love.
And Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and Say Something, and Once Upon a December, and When You Wish Upon a Star. lol She doesn't seem to be able to stop shining at this point.
I grew up listening to this and have loved everything about Simon and Garfunkle. When I first heard this PTX version I fell out of my chair! Love it as much as S&G and it's my 2nd fave from PTX. Hallelujah is #1.
Another great PTX reaction! So where is this “Can’t Hold Us” reaction you mentioned? I could not find it in your Pentatonix playlist! Hope to see it soon!
I love Matt. He has well earned his place in Pentatonix. He has his own unique flavor to the group. Has My Favorite Things been put on your list? PTX does a fabulous rendition of The Sound of Musics classic song. Thank you for sharing your time with us, Travis! ☮️
This is my all time favorite by them. Being familiar with this song through Simon & Garfunkel, and Disturbed, I love Pentatonix version the best. I also love to see the faces of all the people reacting to this version too; Total disbelief and falling in love at the same time with this group. I have been waiting to see you react to this song.
I would like to see you react to "Sing", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Mary Did You Know", "God Only Knows", "Run to You", "Joyful, Joyful", "Havana", "New Rules X Are You That Somebody", Despacito", "Somebody That I used to Know", "Attention", "I Need Your Love", "Away in a Manger", "Can't Help Falling in Love", "Jolene", Amazing Grace," "Rather Be", "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "Can't Hold Us", "Whit Winter Hymnal", "Carol of the Bells", there's lots more, but you decide. I really enjoy your reactions. Keep up the good work.
Go to his playlists, he's already done some of those, like Bohemian Rhapsody and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Might be others there, my memory is not the best 😁
Just stumbled across Messer, which is apparently Mitch's solo project. The song is "Roses". He just released an EP under the Messer name. The Rabbit Hole just keeps growing.
I always love seeing people react to this particular Pentatonix video - especially when they've listened to others before hand. Because I just sit here in my chair thinking, "Yep, that opening with Scott... time to see their jaw hit the floor."
Sound of Silence was a staple of my childhood. I loved Simon and Garfunkel. But, as usual, PTX has put their own spin on this classic and elevated it to another dimension. Your shock and awe is what I felt when I first heard it. Great reaction!!!
Yes, Yes, YES!! FINALLY! I've been waiting for you to see this. Have to admit I melt a little when I listen to Scott on this one. I freaking love this version! And Matt? Oh yeah. Let's face it every one of them is on top of their game in this video. And the live version is just as fine, fine, fine! Afraid I get a little extra carried away with this one. I knew you would be blown away. Loved the looks on your face, Travis. It was worth the long wait! 😂 😉 🥰
You can pick any video - they are all good!! But I love the 2016 live Popspring concert. It’s 4 songs, I believe, but seeing them live adds a different energy to their performance! They all feed off of the audience - so good!!
Your shirt would be perfect for Imaginary Parties (Superfruit) This song is so easy to mess up because so much of the power in the lyrics comes from emotion. Pentatonix definitely knows how to convey that. Matt was definitely the right choice to take over as bass.
Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Run to You, Misbehavin', Light in the Hallway, and Aha! Singapore Star Vista are all amazing. They're some of my favorites. The silent night video was recorded live in a chapel.
As much as Scott’s lower tone and Mitch as usual and Matt are amazing… Kirstin owns this song! She gets the best line of the song and belts it with passion and that vibrato!! Ahhh!!!! The best! People don’t talk about her voice enough.
Great reaction. Thank you. Glad that you loved this Pentatonix cover. You have not yet reacted to the ones I've suggested but I love your reactions so it's OK. I've been requesting "New Rules x Are You That Somebody?" and "Havana". "Amazing Grace" will make your day better because it is so beautiful. "Mad World" is dark and beautiful. They all have Matt. He leads on "You're A Mean One Mr Grinch". Any PTX music released since late 2017 will have Matt.
Yay! This is the second song in my Pentatonix playlist. Scott's voice is so rich and gorgeous here. And I really love Mitch in his lower-mid range. Nothing outrageous, just sheer silky-smooth beauty in his voice. Matt's voice... I mean, you said it all! Kirstin has such a strong voice and well-controlled vibrato, it's just stellar (and I'm very envious of it!). Kevin is just always incredible, no matter what he does! Thank you for all the PTX videos!! Can't wait to see more!!
Great reaction. If you want a slight change of pace (and fall on the floor laughing), watch Superfruit Frozen Medley. Be sure to keep watching to the end 🤪
I, like you, discovered PTX well into their career. I went back through their beginning and watched them grow into this stunning force to be reckoned with. I think one of the things that makes Pentatonix so popular with their fans (despite their undeniable T A L E N T) is they are genuinely nice people. By going back through their beginning and seeing where they are now, it almost makes one, like, mamma proud of them. They had this dream, as a trio, way back when -- and a pinch of luck and gobs of talent the perfect group was formed. I love how they've grown. I love that their dreams have come true. I think they are underrated in the music world. Their songs SHOULD be on the charts. I am a fan of each of them, and AVI and his solo work. Some other good ones to watch are Amazing Grace, Mary did you know (which is what brought me to the group), Attention, Perfect is amazing, Mad World. Scott did an amazing piece with Rozzi called Lose Us, and a duet with Mario Jose called Lost on You, also amazing. There are just soooo many. I can't say I have a favorite honestly. Papaoutai is fun as is their Perfume Medley. I am enjoying your journey through the PTX world. So much fun!
Kirstin's biggest growth has been in the past 3 years. In the older videos, even when she had lead, it was good, but not magnetic. You'll see older videos where if you pick it apart, you'll realize she's doing some really hard vocal tricks (go watch their cover of Kiara's "Gold", preferably a few times in a row, and you'll realize how much she's doing in the background and how hard it is), but it always felt supporting. But something lit a fire under her the past few years. Maybe being on Broadway. Maybe trying a solo project that to be honest, briefly got some attention, but not for long, and that helped her motivation instead of hurting it. Since then, she's a lot bigger in her performances. A lot bolder. She's doing the best writing towards their originals now, at least with lyrics, she does more vocal leads, and definitely is pushing her low end (which you can hear in this performance, and some other recent ones. You can also obviously see her being even bolder with her fashion choices (go back to earlier in their career and see if she ever wore anything as daring as she has more recently in Can You Feel The Love Tonight or in Come Along). I also really liked what she did vocally in Amazing Grace. Before her solo in that song she's doing heavy support work, filling a good part of the background. Then in her solo part, she kind of channels Stevie Nicks, with this great more exaggerated vibrato she's never really done elsewhere. A great watch if you haven't seen it.
Love your reaction- thanks so much! This was my first Matt video too and I was so happy they found a great bass singer. I still loved Avi and felt sad that he was gone but then I saw Matt in "Mr Grinch" and was really able to love Matt too after that.
Thank u for reacting to this song,I've been waiting to see iur reaction and u didn't disappoint me.I'm so glad u loved it ,it is in my top 3 .I can't wait for u to react to amazing grace ,another epic song!! Thanx for brightening my day Travis x
I love hearing Matt’s solo and bass line in this, as well as Scott’s amazing range and when he does the bass. Kirstie’s voice is SO good and how she’s evolved through the years…Omg. Mitch is lovely per usual and Kevin is the foundation of it all…WOW…a favorite for sure ❤️🎶🌈
I saw an interview with PTX, in which they were asked who has the biggest (widest) vocal range and they all pointed at Scott, without any hesitation 😁 Remember his high notes in "Problem"? Scott's range is freakin' amazing!
Just reviewing your videos. You reacted to Billie Eilish Your Power. Did you know Mitch recorded a cover of this song? Just him, on a rooftop, with a simple piano track (He is playing piano in that track. It’s so beautiful. Again, I like it better than the original- no reflection on Eillish. I just like Mitch’s cover more. Ok. Take care ✌️💚
How good is this!? This is the first I ever heard Matt in and he is so good. I was looking forward to seeing your shock at Scott's deep voice at the start. Its like even though we know he can do it when he covers bass it's still a shock 😂 they all look amazing too. Love Scott's jacket and Kirstie looks beautiful. Thank you for a great reaction as always! I can't wait to see Can't Hold Us. I love that you went from that to this one, it shows how versatile they are. I'm not sure if it's been recommended but 90s Dance Medley is sooo good. You'll need those extra cameras for that one because it'll definitely get you dancing!
LOOOOVE your shirt!! And your reaction, as always! Matt's voice is showcased so well in this song. I wish he were showcased more often, but of course he provides great bass backup. I'm a huge Avi fan, but Matt is a wonderful addition in his own way.
Now you see why I was so astonished that you hadn't seen this yet. :) Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. I don't know if you want to react to it, but you might want to watch the Disturbed cover, because it's my personal feeling that PTX based their cover more on Disturbed's take than the S&G original. It's been said plenty of times in comments all over the web that the S&G original was an unhappy warning, Disturbed was anger that no one had heard the warning, and the PTX version is a plea with an element of hope in it to pay attention. I know Paul Simon liked the Disturbed cover - I wish I knew if he'd ever seen this one. For me, it's a toss-up which did it "better." They are both extraordinary covers.
Scott’s lower register has entered the chat. This one is special. SO good. I had the same reaction you did. Jaw dropped during the entire song and then completely speechless followed by listening on repeat the rest of the day. It’s hard to pick a favorite PTX song but this is in the top 3 for me.
Yeah, Matt has a very beautiful, in this song powerful, voice. All of them shine in this song, as usual. Excellent arrangement also. Love your reaction!
Scott really shows off his lower register in this one. They always manage to find opportunities to share their range of skills with us. Speaking of which, have you heard their July 4th performance of Seasons of Love? Kirstie is fire!
I appreciate the band even more since Matt joined. It's not just about comparing their voices, it's about the way each of them contributed to the whole. Matt is more versatile & takes on more roles. . Happy-go-lucky. Stylish. Pop bass vs opera bass. I can see he's a better fit now that he's been there awhile. (Almost as long as AvI!) That said, I love both their voices.
Great reaction, again. I would add a vote for their 90’s Dance Medley and Amazing Grace. I thought I was Amazing Graced out until I heard their version. I see the Pentaholics are here filling you in on the necessary info so I won’t add to that. Welcome to the family. 😊
