tbh this is not skiing and no avalanche, it is called figln (tyrolean) and its expected that the slushy snow is doing exactly this, so you can go down "better"
Well, in that case, you’ll know the local conditions, snow type and things so... awesome! Looks rather brilliant actually. I’m going to have to look up figln now And who knows, maybe even try it out one day!
Thanks for letting us know about figln! I've spend 35 years in the mountains with plenty of avalanche training and never heard this before. Still, that group of kids is in no way prepared for this. Poor riding skills and not a shovel in sight. Could've easily ended with somebody dying of suffocation.
To the ones who dont understand this comment, snow avalanches (as they are called) are extremely unpredictable and can get up to insane speeds, hundreds of people die of these each year. Rhe one in this video was kind of strange thogh, as the snow here was more weat and the avalanche was in a much smaller area than normal ones, so I dont know how dangerous these kinds are
@@kaikkiallamusicofficial20 and what is the purpose of the sport exactly diyng under an avalanche? The snow was bad...it was too hot...they understimate the risk of everything and you can say wathever you want but those ski are not the top equipment you can ask for, the stress on the snow is superior if compared to snowboards or normal skis and the danger of falling is also bigger. Freeride is not a joke, persons die every season and not just stupid one.
Thats called „figln“ and is located in austira (nordkette). Unique „skiing“ experience in spring😁 it's like a water slide. After the ski season when the snow melts, corridors are built so that these mini ski can be used. I hope I have helped a few :)
@jared price Nope. miihaal is correct. The things that look like snow blades are called "Firngleiter" and they are indeed used for "Figln" around Innsbruck in spring. Lifts take you up the mountain. They are on a run that is usually groomed in winter. Just a quick google search would have saved you (and the other smartasses here) the embarassment.
@jared price The people of Innsbruck who have been doing this shit for literally decades thankfully don't give a fuck what you think of them and will continue to go figln regardless. I tried to find reports on any deaths caused by figln but couldn't find any. Probably because it in fact happens in bounds, is promoted by the operator of the Resort (Nordkette) and the avalanche danger (on what are usually groomed runs) was assessed beforehand. The fact that you devoted most of your comment to pointing out spelling mistakes by a non native speaker speaks volumes about your level of education and personal development. Please try and travel abroad at some point in the future.
@@crm1225 Well these are runs that are groomed all throughout winter (so they are pretty stable) and they are checked by the operators of the cable cars. I am not sure about the insurance thing in the alps tbh but it's handled a little differently than in the US I believe.
So I've grown up in a swiss valley with a ski resort, and I can tell you this is the avarage german city people that try "skiing". They have no clue how quickly things can get out of hand on unprepared areas. It's all fun and games until it's not.
To all that hate on the people, go check "figeln" on youtube. You will find out that people from Innsbruck do this activity every year and is safe in most occasions. Also even though the slope is steep (around 40 degrees at the start) locals are very familiar with it and ski there 124121251 times per season. Calm your tits
Jesus can all you keyboard warriors just google Figln at Nordkette. It’s not skiing. Sliding down in the tunnel is the whole point of it, that’s precisely why they wear short blades.
Never seen a more obvious avalanche danger in a video. How tf are you “skiing” in a 4-7 foot rut and not putting together that there is a crust with heavy wet snow under it? YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO DIG A CROSS SECTION TO SEE IT.
What the f was he doing? Exposing his kids to such danger. The entire slope could have glided down and buried them under meters of snow. Classic stupid behavior from german tourists that visit the mountains here once a year, vastly overestimating their skills and experience.... no avalanche equipment, no idea of the danger, laughing about it... shocking
Auch in Deutschland haben wir das Problem mit den Deutschen, die einmal im Jahr auf einen Berg sind und sich dann in Gefahr bringen weil sie keine Ahnung haben.
Every part of this is so stupid. They are laughing about avalanches at first. Then there are way too many people on all things- blades. A dude whips out his phone and then gets caught in slush river, which could have ended a lot worse. Stay on the groomed stuff.
well they are actually on piste. we call that figln and it is not dangerous! they are at the seegrube in innsbruck and every year at the end of the skiing season when conditions get too bad for "normal" skiing and snowboarding the resort opens the figl-season. these slides result from many people sliding down the same way. we are doing this for almost 100 years at the seegrube i have never heard of anyone being buried in an avalanche
After the slush-a-lanche took off, the guy filming accelerated kicking the girl ahead in the back. After overtaking, he then restarted abruptly whenever he got stuck like she'd gone into the back of him. Could have got back injuries from that alone.
Guys, this is a spring / summer activity in the alps, where you can rent these little snow skate things and go down the remaining slush on the mountain. They're not jerries, they're having fun.
Imagine one would going to get caught on something on the way down and gets under slush !!! Easy to die by drowning ! NEVER EVER DO THIS AGAIN AND I ADVISE TO ANYBODY: Don´t copy this!
Why in the hell did they get into that slush channel? This was horrendous judgement, they need to stay out of the back country. I assume if they were on a glacier they would jump into one of those streams thinking it's a waterslide.
Morons. See that equipment they have with them. If only one of them would be covered by snow, he or she would die. No shovels, no airbags, nothing. Do they think they can find the person along 500 metres in this snow pipe. But probably because nothing happens they see this as a prove their judgement was right. I really have nothing against dangerous or even extreme sport. You can put yourself in danger. But be aware of what you are doing and be prepared!
Those are not blades are mini skis/snow shoes...you can walk up and down skiing...but they looks not so efficient...i mean if you compare them with normal snow shoes they are pretty cool, but if compared with skis they suck...so thats all
@@TyTyHuh technically this is extremely careless, that entire chute could have let go, I’ve seen it personally fortunately from a safe distance. Ignorance is bliss until it’s gets really dark.
Hmm.. poor rescuers if they need to risk their life for people who don't mind their own life. No Abs, any backpacks, any as assume detectors.. lucky they would not be found on the next spring melting..
I’ll tell ya what I would not be smiling as much as they were at the end of it. It was all fun and games till it started getting faster. You could tell the guy was scared and clawing at the walls wanting out. Well guess what buddy you’re lucky you and your lady even survived I just think this is so stupid.
