If some people are so turned off by blood, why aren't they turned off by actual meat? Blood puts you into a moral dilemma but flesh doesn't? I don't get it.
+Samuel Ng They aren't chugging a cup of blood, they're eating meat simmered in a blood sauce. They only thought it was weird once they found out it was blood. But why? Because meat is mainstream and blood isn't...
I tried it once, but it was a combination of crunchy pork meat and internal organs (intestine, lungs etc.) it wasn't in a soupy texture as it was totally dry when served not hot but taste incredible. I was told that it has blood on it after clearing my plate off. You can tell that they're really my best of friends.
I don't like intestine/gut blood food that much but dinuguan... I'm craving for that food all day like it's super delicious and to pair it with rice, it would be a flavor bomb😋
My white American friend is married to a Filipina, and one day he asks me what's dinuguan. So I ask him if he had tried it, before answering his question. And he said not yet but he said he is asking me because his Filipina wife kept telling him to stop turning "her on" (during her monthly period) unless he likes to try "dinuguan!" I can't stop laughing which made my friend more curious about dinuguan! To make the long story short I told my friend about the dish that is dinuguan but still, he didn't get his wife's joke about it! So I explained it to him which goes bleep-bleep-bleep and from then on no matter how many Filipinos offered him to try dinuguan everytime he is at a Filipino party he will not eat it. LMAO!!!
I don't understand how some people can love a food without knowing what it is, but right when you tell them what it is they get grossed out and don't want it anymore.
+mevelle martin no, not really. Any being that eats or consumes its own kind are referred as cannibals. When a shark eats a human, the shark isn't called a cannibal.
Wow Philippines is on the rise right now! I see many youtube channel reacting the cuisine, actors-actresses, try pronounce to the language, cultures... And presenting whether buzzfeed, fung bros, korean channels, etc etc etc.... Great Job!!!
It's actually myoglobin. Hemoglobin is the oxygen carrier protein specific to red blood cells while myoglobin is specific to muscles. The "blood" from a non-well done steak is actually "muscle juice." You can tell because its clear whereas blood is opaque. Furthermore, blood coagulates and darkens pretty quickly when some heat is applied. Heck, untreated blood will coagulate on its own given a little bit of time (which is why coagulated blood is also a common ingredient in many parts of the world). Most importantly, steak tends to have very little blood anyway since proper butchers thoroughly drain the animal right after they're killed. If they didn't the meat would taste extra "gamey" and actually spoil faster.
+Shariq Torres Yeah but pork is, it's the same animal. Beef isn't eaten in India at all, it's not just certain parts of the cow, they don't eat it because they don't eat cows. In most countries you don't eat dog, because you don't eat dog. It's not like you would eat dog steaks but not dog paws or something, it's you won't eat dog at all. Because that is not a meat animal in our countries. The pig that the blood is from was raised and slaughtered for eating so it's best to eat as much of the animal as tastes good. If it tastes good/is nutritious and we are throwing it out because we don't like the idea of eating that part much, then it's quite wasteful. In our family we will sometimes get things like chicken liver and make pate or chicken feet and make chinese yum cha style chicken feet, that would probably otherwise be thrown out, and it's a perfectly delicious part of the animal. Our dogs eat raw meat, but we don't give them prime cuts, we buy stuff that is good for them that would otherwise go to waste like feet, heart, liver, kidney, giblets etc.
I'm Filipino, I don't eat Dinuguan because I cannot get past the blood soup factor, but my cousin and aunt loves them. Many peope pair Dinuguan with Puto (white steamed sweet rice cake) Cheers to differing palates and being able to eat what you like.
+Soy, Gluten-Free Chikorita Latte I tried black pudding and white pudding in Ireland, and decided that it really is the blood that makes it tasty. So when I was offered dinuguan I jumped at the chance. I was not sorry; it was absolutely delicious.
well in my province we use carabao blood and put some veges on it not only meat..theres so many kind of viriaty of dinuguan in our province since its on the mountain..some put kalabasa/pumpkin, langka/jack fruit, some put sayote and some put papaya..well you can put vegies in dinuguan if you want..well dinuguan is from provinces they made that one up cause they dont want to waste any part of the animals as long you can eat it..example for the bloob they make it stew..☺️
CJ Allen just make sure that when you're ready to try it, it should be cooked by someone you trust and so that it's clean and well cooked. Good luck haha
oh good. you can do it. in fact some processed foods like sausages etc. have blood mixed in them you just cant see it. dinuguan is way different. lol. best of luck.
This is one of my fave filipino dish. My cousin who is Caucasian loves this but up until now she doesn't know it's pork blood. We call it chocolate pork.
I remember when when my grandma is still alive and whenever my family comes to visit their house, she always cook dinuguan for us. She quickly borrowed some money from her friends just to buy ingredients for dinuguan. Dinuguan is one of my favorite food😍💕
There are a LOT of Filipino foods that taste hella good (I'm biased bcause I'm a Filipino, but really tho) I was born and raised with Dinuguan and Pinapaitan. Let them try Pinapaitan, Adobo, Lumpia, Sinigang na Baboy, Tinola, Ginisang Ampalaya, Giniling, Bulalo, and there are HUNDREDS of different Filipino Cuisine. We are known for having a distinct flavor in food and colorful vibe.
Idk why this showed up in my recommendation but now i'm craving for Dinuguan. My favorite is Ilokano Dinuguan, but Tagalog Dinuguan is also ok. Ugh now i'm cravingggg
+Marcus Peraja Happy you took the thought out of my head. I read that and was like how would that title be copyright infringement? Those are all commonly used words
i don't get why some people would be disgusted of eating pig's innards and blood, unless it's because of their religion... but i mean it's not actually bad when it's cooked well and eaten in a right way... it's the same for balut as well
ive always been taught that offal has more nutrients than normal flesh. And as long as its cleaned and cooked properly, it can still be good and safe to eat.
I remember my lola (filipino term for grandma) remarried an australian guy and she was cooking dinuguan and she told me to distract Dudley (the aussie) for him not to know and see what she is cooking coz if he sees it he won't eat it but after he tasted he loved it, then after my lola told him about the blood part he got slightly mad and disgusted but after the denial and getting over it mentally, he said it can be his new favorite, he can eat it again..
dinuguan is not actually eaten by all filipinos because of some religions and cultures. how ever it is very delicious and it is very yummy when you eat it with lots and lots of puto because: dinuguan + puto = trip to the highest realm of ethreal space
image of a perfect combination (dinuguan + puto): encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRZB1N7yr4H4ppD_J-vTZQpv0oxTSobkE1cTy9lTAUCicE_Y9KJi9qUl6H9
As a filipino. When i return to the Philippines at the age of 16. Amand heard it pig blood i didnt touch it nor did i ate it. I ate it when i was prpbably 25 in my sister wedding. Cause it was serve to me. And i feel guilty not eating it. . turns out its really not that bad. Loving the taste
Fun fact: if theres a party in the Philippines, and theres a dinuguan made by the uncle chef that doesnt need culinary experience, after a few hours og the serving of it, that thing is gone in a snap
That's cool, the red juice in steak still isn't blood. Myoglobin has a red pigment and is part of what makes red meat red. When a cow is killed they are drained of all their blood but the meat contains a lot of myglobin and water. You don't find blood when you eat chicken or pork do you? No, because they're drained of their blood. They also contain less myglobin which is why you don't find any red juice either.
Here's the problem our brain now a days judge food by it's looks yet when we taste it, it's truly amazing but once you find out what it truly is you're gonna start to gag
Tho this was a year ago let me give you another example. What if you had a really really delicious soup, it was creamy and tasted very flavorful. Then you found out the base of the soup was human slimy nose snot with a little bit of pleghm. How would you react?
@@unfoundsoul2543 human nose snot and phlegm are not edible. they are discharge. we do not eat that since they came from fellow humans. the only exception we have here is breast milk but only for babies, no other discharge from fellow humans. dinuguan is not a discharge of humans since it came from pigs and some other culture are cooking it, too. So, it is socially acceptable as an edible matter as long as it is cooked properly. It is like eating raw meat/fish by other culture, too, which is even more risky than cooked blood.
Not everyone. Lol stop speaking for others. I haven't even tried that eh NEVER WILL. Hindi AT ayoko kumain ng dinuguan. Just the thought of it. 20+ na akong nabubuhay pero wala. Eh 🙊
@@AFanOfCinema filipino is the generalized calling of the tagalog language with different dialects, but it is usually reffering to the ethnicity. Tagalog itself is what we mostly use for the language
3 Vampires at a Restaurant: Rich, middle class and poor Waiter approaches and ask what can I get for you? Rich Vampire: Your most expensive wine. *winks* Middle Class Vampire: Dinuguan for me Poor Vampire: hot water.. I found a pad on the streets earlier. I'll just have some tea. :)
I'm a strict vegan, however, I still don't understand why people are so grossed out by blood when they eat meat all the time???? Before I became vegan I looooooved black pudding. Blood tastes good, so does meat. But eating vegetables doesn't kill animals or yourself so... Being vegan is *definitely* better than eating black pudding and steak.
+Gia Productions eating blood by itself is different with eating meats. we'll cook the meat first then only we eat it. I'm not so sure if there's people who eat raw meats with blood in it =-O
+Unibrowpopcorn Yeah, it makes no sense, especially considering the contrast of the "blood" in the dinuguan, which is _fully cooked_, vs. the actual that's STILL in medium-rare and rare steaks.
+Unibrowpopcorn beging vegas doesn't work for everyone though. some people have intolerance to fruit sugar like me and you can find it in veges and all kinds of non-meat food. so my only choice is to be a carinivore as much as possible with some starch like rice.
Dinuguan is one of my most favorite Filipino food and I can eat it all year round so if they criticize it, it will hurt my feelings really. Thank you for the black cap guy and the glasses guy. They seem to really like it even if it's quite exotic. Americans, please don't be afraid to eat this dish. The blood is thoroughly well cooked. It is the most important part of preparing it.
Dinuguan in the province after slaughtering the pig for LeChon. The pork blood is saved, intestines & other innards. Cleaned & boiled. Chopped & sauteed in garlic, onions, ginger, bay leaf , green chillies, salt & vinegar. *add ons crunchy pork belly & coconut milk.
'Moral fork' honey you're already eating the meat. Using the blood is just using one more part of the animal that won't go to waste. Why would the blood cause a moral dilemma?
I work in a ship and our English head chef love the dinuguan or blackpudding soup. Bicolano style, w/ coconut milk. Cuz it's hard to look for pork blood we use blackpudding..
